I remember old school killzone. For the time graphically it was top tier. Gunplay was amazing, audio was fantastic. But they really, really dropped the ball here.
I found it on the PlayStation store on sale for like $5 and I still felt ripped off lol. I made it out of the intro into the forest and never even made it to the first objective

I remember killzone 1 being viciously mocked for being a buggy broken mess on ps2 with very weak gunplay. Kz2 and 3 were the highlights of the series but I never considered them masterpieces outside of graphics and spectacle

Love buying games like metal gear solid hd collection, spyro/crash trilogies, kingdom hearts story so far. Rather buy one copy and not 3-8 games to enjoy the collection.

You can really tell Guerilla Games only made this out of contractual obligation. They wanted to move on to Horizon Zero Dawn so bad and there was no passion in this whatsoever.
Killzone 3 had a conclusively bittersweet ending. There was no need for a sequel after that

You are eight about that but his monitor/tv was wrongly setup to be this bad, I played the game yesterday using the highest contrast my tv could get+ tried using standard contrast it was still bad but the even the highest didn’t make me blind in dark areas idk what is wrong with his setup. Still bad game though, 5/10.

I remember getting this as part of my PS4 bundle back when it first came out in 2013. I was blown away at how it looked graphically at the time but I found the game SO damn frustrating lmao

Well, you would think that the sun would kill him, but it was winter at the time and he had sun glasses on, which also explains why everything was so dark in the first place.

My question is why would they give you the option of stealth for the first actual mission with a gun, but force you to not use it if you don't wanna get caught. And then once you get a suppressed gun, it's not suppressed at all somehow

So that gun definitely is supposed to be suppressed I believe (looks like it was based on the silenced machine pistol from 3) but I think it's just a barrel jacket. There are so many stealth missions but very few have actual silence weapons it's a huge design flaw imo

I decided to play this for the first time on ps5 recently. I couldn’t believe how bad the controls felt.
To me it felt even worse than the first game
I can't have a negative opinion about this game it was my first fps on the ps4 and i did love the campaign, got to play it the last week and felt like a kid playing with my father again

I mean Graphically it's stunning. Way ahead of its time and could use a 4k patch. But the multi-player was actually good.
I loved using that bolt action Sniper Rifle that with the slow ass reload lol. Medic class was hella fun.

@@deftestaphid2026 the sound the game makes every time you get a kill in Shadowfall was very satisfying. And using that sniper made it better because the sound came after your shot. So it isn't drowned out by gunfire when you continue to shoot with the ARs even though their already dead lol. I also liked the heat and steam that is released from the gun after every shot.

I had killzone mercenary on my vita and when I got a ps4 I was really excited to have a proper console version of a game I loved... I legitimately forgot I played through it until I saw this video
Still a good story but the biggest problem was the goofy character design for the main character, not explaining what happened to Sev and Rico, and the fact that you always had to have that gimmick gun for energy shields even tho you could use the robot or just stab them to death. Kill zone has always had slow weighty combat and I've always appreciated its story that's hidden behind generic shoot bangs. It's always been a story about racism, genocide, and why nationalism is bad. Shadowfall is a bit different though because it's a story about east/west Germany and Isreal Palastine
The setup is comically stupid tho. There is no way there would be so many helgast and they would be given half the freaking planet.

@@steelbear2063 that part didn't really feel like it was explained well, it seems like they meant it to be that they were all terrorist factions being supplied by former big bad (don't want to spoil too much for people who might be invest but haven't played shadowfall yet somehow) later on in the story and maybe forgot to rewrite it so it is both a massive terror cell and an actual army. My other thought is that they ended up reforming an army once back on Vekta years later and all the arms they produced were due to their entire former society being based around industrial manufacturing. But that doesn't account for the soldiers at the start of the game, my thoughts for that are they negotiated it with Earth somehow in the immediate aftermath (since Vekta and the ISA reported to earth if I'm not mistaken).
@@guilhermehank4938 it def is goofy, my only thoughts are post war treaties and not knowing how much of both planets populations (helgan and vekta) were left after the events of 1, liberation, mercenary, 2, and 3. So maybe they were both so devastated by the wars that there really was enough space for them to split the planet. Probably not half but I'd wager that even Vekta had lost a pretty significant chunk since 2 is them invading directly after liberation and the ISA gets their shit rocked constantly during 2 and is nearly wiped out in 3. Honestly they only won in 3 due to internal Helgast Power struggles. Idk how the fuck it got to that point if everyone but Visari was so incompetent when it came to ruling tho
Infamous Second Son was the far better launch PS4 title in my opinion. Killzone Shadow Fall is a game I dislike in hindsight and one I regret buying, especially since the platinum trophy is impossible to get now

If you liked dogs and action games psvita had you covered in fact I'm pretty sure Modders still port games to the vita. I think it's even getting a Spiderman ultimate port sometime soon.

Shadow fall is a very good game the servers went down months ago up until then there was always 1 usually more 24 player lobby's no bad game would still have that active of a playerbase that many years after it released this game not every gamer is the same many people enjoyed this game it is certainly no bad game great game

It feels slow and clunky cause like all the other killzone games there is no aim assist or auto aim. It felt bad in the campaign because they sped the games up massively for 3 and mercenary. It feels like they wanted it to have that nice PC movement where your gun moves where you aim somewhat independently of your actual camera field of view (idk if theres a real term for that but I'm sure someone knows what I mean). However the weightiness lended itself well to the multiplayer.
It's the only Killzone I've sold. Even 1 with all it's jank I find entertaining. This was just dull. The last level was arguably the best bit. Looks nice though

Oh yeah, I bought it recently. The shooting is very good. Everything else is meh. It's one of those bad games that you play to laugh at. And thankfully it does make me laugh.
If Sony could remaster or hell even just bring a collection of all the killzones even the hamdheld 9nes over to ps4 and or ps5 I'll buy it.

I still haven't played this one. I've planned on it multiple times but no way am I paying full price for it. I love the first three games, more so the second and third. The multiplayer is so good as well, I still play it, albeit with bots. I just loved how the game looked and all the effects.

I remember watching gameplay for this when I was younger and didn't have a PS4, even after I got one shortly after I never played it but it's been in my mind. decided to download it on ps5 since it was free with ps plus and let's just say I'm glad I didn't pay for it

Killzone: Shadowfall turned the series into something it wasn't, had a bland, forgettable story with bland, forgettable characters, and encouraged stealth even though the system was completely broken and unreliable.

My only complaint about this video is, that you didn’t switch weapon mode of your main gun like 20 time in a row like I did. That was the most fun this game had to offer: short "barrel" SMG, long "barrel" sniper rifle. It’s just cool to extend the rails of your railgun. Years later Warface did the same with that mission on Mars where you control some robots and they have the same 2in1 gaussrifle,
It was a lot of fun in Republic Commando to just add/remove the weapon attachments as you walk around.

The 1 thing i like about the series especially if you into the lore you have to look at this series the same way you look at 30k and 40k series eventually you can actually empathize quite a bit with the helghast as both sides are terrible the good guys and the bad guys aka space nazi helghast and have done awful things

I honestly don´t know why people hate on this game so much, I´ve played it and I´ve enjoyed it a lot. No, seriously, why are people hating it? I´d understand not like but outright saying it´s bad is in my opinion an over exaggeration. The graphics were good for it´s time and still hold out in todays standarts when compared with Hitman 3, any call of duty and battlefield or even just rpg´s. I think people only hate on this game because someone on the internet said it´s bad so everyone now says it is without even giving it a chance. I too thought metal gear could never be a game that I would even consider touching and then I played the latest one and metal gear rising and instantly fell in love with it.
So, all in all, this game was ahead of it´s time in every aspect and I stand by this opinion.
Man i loved the first and second Killzone. And the psp games, too. Fun co-op and multiplayer, too! Who'd have thought.

Ya know Sony's reaction to the end of this entire franchise was the same moment the Sony Incorporated blatantly basically said to us: FUCK MULTIPLAYER!!!
Playstation Executives have told every Gaming News Outlet/Publication to say the repetitively phrase "Story Driven" so many times until the words felt like they were being shoved up our asses. Not a single exclusive has a priority in online functionality and thus PS Plus has been irrelevant and completely ignored by everybody ever since 2017.
The commentary is annoying, but overall it makes the point about the game.
This was a tech demo and tanked Guerilla's and the IPs rep until they rebounded with HZD.
It was very frustrating to play. I never finished it.
This game is so disappointing. I've played every killzone multiple times, even buying the playstation move rifle to play Killzone 3 like a Wii game, beating every game on the hardest difficulty. But this one? I just gave up. Sure the story was kind of interesting but it was also really stupid. The jump from being a super soldier spy wasn't that great either. It worked fine for Killzone Mercenary (which also had stealth options) but that was because Mercenary was built to support either option. You didn't HAVE to go silent, and if you did, the game gave you so many options to take that route. Not like MGS or Splinter Cell levels, but it's just impressive how dynamic they made Mercenary feel. And there were still massive set pieces and battles you were apart of, which Shadow Fall lacked. I can think of two instances with massive battles: VSA building being bombed and the train section right after. I pretty much stopped right there.
The multiplayer was pretty good though. It was actually really good dare I say. And I do have to admit, the dynamic elements of Shadow Fall are great! The drone thing is a pretty fun ally to dick around with. And like all killzone games, it looks amazing, dare I say, even better than most PS4 games still. But that's about it.
The ULTRA scifi setting is just disorienting. The weapons, ships, tech, everything is just so much more scifi compared to the other games, and Mercenary had some crazy new stuff too. It is cool they brought back the Shadow Marshals again, which strangely are just absent from the rest of the games (maybe foot notes in Intel in some games?)
The most damning change though, was the Helghast. They don't sound right at all. They don't feel the same. They aren't the same enemies. Calling them Helghast is wrong. What made the Helghast unique WAS the british voices. You could tell these guys would eat glass for breakfast and wash it down with the blood of Vektan children, and like it. But in this game, they sound like the Replicas from F.E.A.R. 2, underwhelming. They aren't scary, they aren't unique, they're just space nazis with no personality. Each type of Hig had a unique accent making them identifiable from distance. The look of the Helghast with the World War 1/2 style gas masks is iconic. Taking that away just takes away the feel.
Killzone was pretty much always about being in the mud and trenches of space world war 2. Sure, 3 had some variation (which I think was actually pretty good, like more elaborate space stations from Killzone 1, and that jungle environment especially) and Mercenary also had a lot more vibrant and unique locations, but again, in Mercenary, it worked there because you weren't a frontline soldier like in 1 and 2. You were a mercenary, hired by either the ISA or Helghast. It made sense to be visiting fishing villages or embassy's or even top secret labs.
And I'm not even saying that Shadow Fall was doomed to fail. The advancements in tech makes sense. I'm not opposed to that, but there could've been a great way to have that improvement but keep the original feel. A game mostly just set on Vekta is also great! Vekta is a much more appealing place than Helghan, which is supposed to be a grimy, dirty, dusty desert. So having covert ops carried out on Vekta is not a bad idea! Hell, even the moral debates that the game throws around are really good, such as if the Helghast really deserve to live or not, or if the VSA isn't as innocent as they claim. Good stuff. Sadly they just couldn't pull through with it.
There is some fun with this game. That one section where you use the sun to kill enemies was actually really unique. Some of the features you can do with a PS4 controller are also pretty cool. Heck, the levels are designed in a way that are similar to F.E.A.R. with a lot of the maps mini death match arenas with lots of no mans land and areas to flank the enemies. The issue with that though is that's not really Killzone. It's not supposed to be super open with lots of options. It works fine, but it just doesn't have enough happening in those sections for it to feel right.

Yeah, it was... btw fun fact ! Killzone Mercenary was made exclusively to the PSVITA and had amazing graphics, good story and gameplay. It was everything a big console launch needed to be, unfortunately they hired chimps for this and made a masterpiece for a dead console.
Honestly I think the best console seller in my opinion was Sunset Overdrive for the Xbox One. Just like I bought a PS2 originally to play Metal Gear Solid 2, overdrive would be the only reason I buy a Xbox. And Killzone shadow Fall was all right, it just felt too generic after a couple hours of playing.
I actually like shadowfall the second most out of the series, and that has everything to do with the the Owl drone completely Atlasing the whole campaign on its F*cking back and the mutiplayer, yeah i was getting spawn killed a quarter of the time but i liked most of the maps design and layout, weapons and abilities as well as the gadgets, the one shell sniper rifle is awesome too, and when they added the co-op mode as well as the option for standalone buyers the game just got better for me. Endless waves of Higs, so much fun. Miss this series as well as Resistance. Killzone 2 is also hand down the best KZ game of all time no arguments

Killzone 4 has the worst setup of any game. remember at end of WW2. giving Germany half of the USA. and letting them keep their weapons of war. tank, ships, subs, guns and slaves. plus allowing them to do what ever they want.... no I don't either. Killzone 4 was a stupid game.

after playing the killzone trilogy and this one i noticed many changes on the gameplay that just made it feel less like a killzone game. Killzone was always a warzone, soldiers on the front lines and some times doing some lone wolf spec ops missions to break the monotony a bit and then back into the war zone. Killzone shadow fall is all one big spec ops lone wolf game, im not saying games like that are bad, im just saying this concept for killzone just doesnt fit. Killzone mercenaries was ok because it was a minor spinoff and played arround with its gimmicks much better than shadow fall. Bceause of this change the intensity of the combat suffers. Remember the intro missions on killzone 1 and killzone 2 and the big fight againts the giant mech in killzone 3? there is none of that in shadow fall, and something inside of me tells me the reason why the intensity was tunned down was to avoid having too much stuff going on screen so the game could run at ''promissed'' frame rates.
Story wise was a big missed oportunity to not make this about a war caused by the halfbreeds because they are both discrmininated by the ISA and the helghast alike.
I bought Killzone Shadow Fall for like $10 and still felt I wasted my money, and I never even played the series. Killzone just looked like a flashy Call of Duty to me so I never really cared for the franchise...
The only reason I beat killzone shadow fall was because I was 10 and I felt bad for making my mum spend a hundred on that game for me💀😭, even then the game was just so frustrating and really boring when it actually works.

Sorry.... maybe it is just me, but i played this again on my PS5 and loved it.
The same with Resistance.... though you can't get 1 and 2 on PS5, you can stream Resistance 3 and i love that game even though they got and get so much hate.
