Great video. If anyone is shopping around and notice that the 2000 Viper is a bit cheaper, its because of the two things that were highlighted in this video. No forged pistons, as well as no ABS. Honestly if you have to choose, pick the pre-2000 Gen 2 Viper. I have an 02 GTS and the ABS isn't anything special. Another good thing to ask is if the engine was an Arrow rebuild. Guys in the 90s-2000s were supposedly blowing their engines on purpose so Chrysler would send them back to Arrow for a rebuild. Not 100% sure on the differences when they would get the engine back.
Just a random tidbit. The ACR and the '98 GT2 models were the only ones to come with factory smooth tubes (black and blue respectively). Regular RT/10s and GTS models had the stock ribbed style intake tubes.
great video and info on these cars. i'd love to see a gts that has side exit exhaust like the r/t. do you think an oem conversion is possible given that the cats are in the same location?
It can certainly be done. With that said, given the rising value of these cars, I'm not sure I'd be able to start cutting one up to do this. The other issue is filling in the spot in the back where the factory pipes came out.
I thought all Gen II had forged pistons -- I'm looking at a 2001 GTS or 2006 coup -- both around the same price. Decisions, decisions ... And you should be using Driven Racing Oil -- if you're not daily driving, I'd go with that ... best oil you can get.
I jack the car up and slide the ramps under the tires. Never had an issue, but I'm always cactus when using these ramps. For any major work, I have access to two and four-post (drive one) lifts.
We've had a few RT 10's. The first one we had was a first year with no A/C and the terrible slide-in windows. It had some Hennessey power upgrades, but was miserable in the summer.

Gen 2 Vipers are just the most reliable and gorgeous truly analog sports cars available. Will be double these prices one day.
Gen ll Vipers are the coolest cars ever built 😎
Well done, As an owner myself, You touched on most of the issues and concerns!

I really want those wheels. Nice offset, and simple design making them easy to clean.
Ali I loved your articles in Petersen’s. Glad to see you in front of the camera now.
Thank you!
Thanks for the tips. Going to look at an 02 in a few days
Very Informative on my Favorite Car ever built !!!
Great video I learned a few things. Amazing looking Viper too glad to see it in great condition.✌️💯
Thank you!
Comments like this. 🙌
I find it funny that the gen 2's have door sag, but it makes sense because the door was originally designed without windows in the gen 1s.
Thanks for reviewing this beautiful amazing vehicle 🇺🇸👌🏻
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
Ha! Knew I'd find u here.😆
@@QuintonTV lol 😆 I’m a Viper video stalker
Not many of them around. I want one really bad.
It's never too late.... 😏

I believe there are conversion kits. It’s definitely possible.

be careful about the rear ramps kicking out, was my first concern seeing that sitting on all 4.

Still my dream car. Unfortunately...😆
Know what fixes the cabin heat in the GTS? No roof, oh that's the RT.

I love Gen 2 but still not as nice as first Gen 🐍
Amsoil > Redline. Project Farm told me so
