Yep, he came to Australia as a child and embraced being Australian- he could have have made it big internationally but he didn’t want his family to be uprooted and I think he also didn’t want to be away from his home- I pray his recovery from recent surgery is going well- may never sing again but he will always be loved and remembered as one of the best music artists of all time ❤❤❤🇦🇺 I got a photo with him back in 1969 that will always be treasured 👍🏻🥰

Plenty of World Artists know very well who John is, they have sung with him. But they didn't really want him in the international market, he's was/is a tenant they couldn't compete with.

John Farnham is Australian. Born in England, he migrated to Australia with his parents when he was a child and became an Australian citizen later on. John is rock royalty in Oz and is known as "The Voice," after his song, "You're The Voice", was a hit around the world. "Help", is a special song as he had a down time in his singing career and this song was his comeback single. He puts his Soul into it because he did appreciate the help from his fans and his manager to make his career a resounding success. He's been a performer for 6 - 7 decades and has a vocal range from A2 to G5 - 6 and a bit octaves. Always watch John LIVE as he is charismatic, a mike master, has an aura of fantastic energy which his audience loves and goes with. And he is quite humble and funny. We love him. So first of all, glad you have found our John, who is now in his 70's and still sings like that. Second of all, he is an Aussie, even tho born in England and migrated here as child. He is a living legend here in Oz and we love him to pieces 😄His career began in Melbourne in the late 60's and truly blossomed into legend status in the 80's with You're The Voice . His live performances are stunning and he known for his sense of humour, kindness and generosity. An all around great Aussie bloke. 💖

I went to a small concert he did in Auckland NZ only a few years back, his voice has not changed. He's in his early 70's now and keeps saying it's time to retire then next thing he is on that stage again.
I love this concert version of his version of Help. Live is always best for John as you come to realise his amazing performances, vocal ability, range and his appreciation for his audiences, band & back up singers. His band & singers are awesome and his passion & humour & exhilaration are the best. 110,000 people there wish I'd been one of them. John might have been born in the UK but he's Assie through & through 😊
The Melbourne tennis centre doesn't hold 110,000 people, the MCG doesn't even hold that many people, so I have no idea where that number came from.

I grew up listening to John Farnham. My parents love him, so he was always on at home and in the car.
This was the only version of Help that I knew. It wasn’t until I was much older that I heard the Beatles version and I thought it was a cover (I was a stupid kid lol).

TBH this is the first version of the song I ever heard back in the 80’s.
Everyone in Australia knows those words backwards and can sing them in their sleep. Also the words to "You're the Voice" equally so. He has a tone of songs from so many genres and he sings them all brilliantly. There's a long, long, long list of songs that he has sung - find them all, and you'll be absolutely blown away by the massive range of stuff he can sing from classical and music theatre, to ballads, to country, to rock, to pop, to down and dirty soul and blues. And he sings them ALL amazingly well in their genre, particularly for an audience. For this reason (and I know there's a lot of great singers out there, but...) he's the best singer on earth! But one tip - ALWAYS listen to him live. He sings well in a studio too, of course, but he brings it on for the crowd. He is a born performer. ALWAYS listen to him lives. Studio is great, but live is absolute MAGIC.
I agree 100percent he is the greatest male singer on earth period! Try name one other male singer besides opera that has the power and range and mostly from the heart singer! None absolutely none and not even close! It's true the greatest singer in the world for decades belonged in Australia and the rest of the world didn't even no! They do now!!

I remember when I was in Australia, the first time in -94....and, if I remember it correctly this song, Men at works "Down Under" - as well as a[n unhealthy? ;-)] dose of the songs of ABBA were pretty much the "soundtrack" during the journey! ;-)

Australia were ABBA's biggest fans outside of Sweden without a doubt. Even after they went out of fashion with the mainstream the gay community here kept that love alive until the movies Muril's Wedding and Pracillia: Queen of the Desert came along and reminded us how much we loved them.
