The original lyric of the “mixing ice cream” line is “mommy make you a snack” and I have no idea why they changed it. I’m so confused.
It was to rhyme with football team, they changed that lyric because they didn't want to sing about rum and coke.
It's actually because they did it bassed on the highschool version, so all the lyrics are mostly the same as the ones highschool productions use( I say mostly because of lyric changes that follow the shows plot) but I do think they would have had alot more success (they need it) if they had bassed it off the Broadway version

honestly, I don't blame the actors/actresses. it's the producers that literally butcher their voices and it makes them sound like robots.

Same! A lot people are saying that they can sing and I believe it. I just think that the autotune is so bad. Some people are also saying that they need to be trained more or better??? Idk I'm not a musician so I don't really know. I don't think its the actors fault at all
Even worse, SOME OF THEM USED TO BE IN MUSICAL THEATER! I don't get why the producers needed to completely edit their voices. I don't think the musical episodes would be so cringey if we got a lot less autotune.

I had no clue! That definitely makes it harder to forgive the producers. They have decent actors and decent singers overly autotine their voices and give them ridiculous lines and plots to work with. I never read the Archie comics but the things people say make me sad about the show. The comics sound amazing and the show is just bad. It had so much potential.

A big thing with candy store is that they took all of the high notes that made the song pop out and replaced it with low notes. It just sounded off, and it most likely because it was too high for the actors.
They also took out all the 3 person harmonies! It just sounded so flat.

I personally just don't get why they felt the need to censor out so much by changing words when there was already so much mature stuff in the first episodes of the show.
kjelfalconer it’s hilarious that they aren’t allowed to say “pound some rum and coke”, yet in the show the students party, drink, and do drugs! lol There are whole story lines around drugs going around the town and scenes showing characters getting drunk/ high, but heaven forbid they verbally allude to drinking alcohol!

Still, riverdale gives a really bad image to a lot of things and doesn't handle certain issues well. Overall the show is annoying as hell imo.

@@angelicmercenary yep lol:) I'm not saying every single day or even every single week me and my friends were out partying, doing some kind of drug, or just constantly having sex. That's an over exaggeration of my high school experience lol, but it did happen. And kind of often sometimes. That's just me, but I really did know a lot of people personally that did party every weekend, smoke weed every day, have a lot of sex or are always with their boyfriend or girlfriend, etc. I did also know a lot of people that did none of that and were completely focused on school. It's a spectrum. I'd say 40% were indeed experimenting and having fun, the other 40% was as well but were more innocent, then the remaining 20% did whatever they do lol.

Fact I think that the people who actually give the go to for the sound effects people are the director-
They’ve made Mads sing so she sounds like her character Cheryl.
Cheryl speaks with a very specific tone of voice that doesn’t actually sound like Mads, so tbh I think for her to sing in her characters tone of voice shows how talented she is.
Just me tho lol
I definitely agree that Madeline and Vanessa both have singing voices that don’t match their characters so they used a lot of auto tune to make them sing songs not for them but their characters .
Here's the thing about musical episodes (in all shows in general): Why make an episode if none of your actors can sing? And if they can, why autotune it so much that it sounds like they're drowning in it? I know it's for the crowd's entertainment, but it's not entertaining if it sounds bad. Riverdale is no acception.
The problem is that all the actors have very different voices. For example, Lili (Betty) and Cami (Veronica) have voices that blend well together cuz they both have lighter voices, but are still able to add power. On the other hand, Madelaine (Cheryl) has a much deeper voice that is more suitable for pop songs. The producers keep trying to get them to sing together and then add autotune in an attempt to make their voices blend, when it just doesn't. All that together just makes it sound really cheap and just overall bad.

I don’t understand how one minute the show changed the original lyrics to the songs to make them more appropriate, but then in the same breath showed 3 underage teens about to have a threesome in their school auditorium. Someone explain how that makes sense? They even changed lines hinting at drugs when I almost %100 positive there was a whole storyline about drugs in this show. It’s not only the music that’s bad, but the storyline
They didn't change the lyrics, that is illegal haha. This is the official 'high school' version of the Heathers script which is overall more PG, but has a reputation for being AWFUL in the theatre community as it was thrown together really fast so a lot of the lyric swaps are terrible.

He had his voice mixed with either Casey (person who plays Kevin) cause he’s got a good voice or Ryan (original JD in off Broadway heathers) I’m pretty sure cause u can hear the voice kinda swap when ur gets high from what Cole sprouse sounds like to a bit more like yeah
they had him singing veronica's part and it was too low for his voice, so it was awkward
When Cole starts singing flat with Lilli I feel like she's the choir kid who knows what she's doing during the performance and he's the slacker desperately trying to match her
Cole has expressed many times that he isn’t a singer. He doesn’t like singing. He refused to become a singer for Disney (even though there is that one song with ALL the Disney stars of that time, & the Tipton commercial episode) , he sure as hell isn’t going to for Riverdale 🤣

The autotune in that episode was so weird and they got hated for it. In this years musical episode from Hedwig there wasn't that much autotune and you really got to her the actors voices!

But I rather have a character that is part of the LGBTQ+ community play Hedwig then them giving this role to a random character (which I could unfortunately see the Riverdale writers do.... Two words: Casey Cott
He's the only trained singer in the cast, he went to Carnegie Mellon. His brother, Corey Cott, was in Bandstand and Newsies. Based on this I think you should react to Riverdales Hedwig episode they did in season four. They really let him shine and it's easily the best musical episode they've done, he also sang our love is god and beautiful in the Heather's episode. (also I'm not saying the other cast cant sing im just saying she should react to Casey)

@@evandangel8173 personally, I still think they did that because Cole goes from being pitchy and flat on the low notes, nails the harmonies when he’s definitely not a tenor, and then goes back to being flat and pitchy. He just sounds way similar for it to be a coincidence

@@hollandfray4521 no it’s clearly just cole’s voice there’s no layering happening. i think ppl are underestimating how difficult it is to sing lower in ur range supported and find the pitch down there. his voice sounds way more comfortable higher and he is forced to support the belting note; he can’t get away with crappy breath support and u can hear it. also plenty of ppl open up at the mid to high end of their range vs the bottom 🤷♀️

I don’t know if anyone’s said this yet but in Seventeen, Cole’s voice was actually mixed with another cast member’s on the belting notes because he had trouble reaching them. That’s cast member being Casey Cott- brother of Corey Cott who played Jack in Newsies on Broadway after Jeremy Jordan left. He plays Kevin.

I would recognize Casey Cott's voice and I do not. I hear Cole, Lilli, the other two females and a lot of instrumentals and a little autotune. I am autistic with have perfect pitch and can recognize voices. I am not sure who made this rumor up but it is false.
