Ashland, VA rails catch the first car of 2019! (Correction, Second)

  • After a welcome hiatus, a car becomes the first (Second) of 2019 to end up on the tracks at Ashland, VA!
    Kudos to the Ashland police for arriving quickly, securing the area and getting the car off the tracks.
    We apologize for stating it was the first car, it was the second car of 2019! (So many cameras).

    If I had a truck. I would install a Train Horn on it and sit about a block away and start blowing the the horn. Time to change your drawers. lol

      That's a good idea! To make it even funnier, Get huge tires on the truck, along with that train horn, and go down the rails and pretend to be a train flashing your lights as well😂😂

    That response time though! PD must have the stream up in the control room at this point!

      Actually around 7 minute response time, as VRF cut out a couple minutes of the recording. Keep an eye on the timestamp at the top of the page.

    It probably wouldn't hurt to have plenty of light on these intersections. Might cut down on the frequency of these occurrences, especially for people that are unfamiliar with the area!

      Maybe if they painted the edge of the pavement at the crossings with that white, reflective paint they use for stop-bars at intersections that might help.

    Ashland seems like the kind of town that when they hear a half dozen sirens at once....they realize someone is on the tracks. LOL

    They should just install huge signs that say " Please don't drive onto the tracks! Unless you're a train!"

    Actually it’s at least the third incident of a car on the tracks in Ashland this year, had two back in April on the sixth and seventeenth of month. I was there when the first happened.

    a little bit of a fence { few posts and signs both sides of the line } should be put there so they don't drive on the tracks ,surely that will stop it from happening

    OMG! This is like the fifth one of these I have seen. I will make sure that I NEVER go through Ashland. Not because the train crossing is dangerous, the people are what scares me! 🤦‍♂️

    "IT" must be in the city water supply. They keep doing the same thing over n over! Good thing CSX has a speed restriction on this section of track otherwise.....

    Wow the police but was quickly on the spot and equal to 3 vehicles. Fortunately, no train came and everything went well again, puhh

      Linda Terrell I’m sure they give out some sort of citations. Not all incidents are DUI related. Some people just aren’t the best drivers at night or are just careless.

    I can kinda understand a person at night making a left or right turn too early and ending up on the tracks but this person had already successfully made the turn and then drove onto the tracks at the next crossing. What an idiot!

    This happens at night. Obviously there is a problem with the lighting such that people cannot see properly. It hasn't been fixed because they enjoy the notoriety and deriding people who cannot see. Shameful!

    Apparently, in Ashland they don't use a breathalyzer to see if you're intoxicated. They use railroad tracks!
