I’ve also uploaded this song to my bandcamp if anyone wants to download it, I know the sound quality isn’t the best so it’s up for free :) - cicibass.bandcamp.com/track/wmd
Best one I heard so far of your ‘ambience’ pieces. There’s a lot to be said about improvising solos from such a minimal backing loop. I’d love to hear you elaborate on it with maybe more musicians in the future, maybe? A band of multiple basses/guitars + electronic ambience + percussion playing as minimal and economic as needed is what I’m hearing. Just suggesting, cause this is amazing already. The twist of using feedback as a melody is taaasty. Keep it up! ❤
I loooove hearing your amazing art! ❤❤❤ I can totally imagine you writing film music for epic science fiction films! Please never stop playing bass and making art with your music ❤
This is very, very striking. I think that your approach to your bass playing puts you in a very exclusive category - there are very few bassists who are also composers (rather than run-of-the-mill songwriters, like what I try) and there are NONE who sound like you. That's an incredible achievement.
@@CiciVonStrangelove I'm literally sitting here at the moment with my bass on my lap practising. I have often been in awe of your chops (I think I saw you do RHCP C'Mon Girl and and I thought "will I EVER be able to play that!") but this jam was something else entirely. Great stuff.
A composition with a very sonorous B tuning. This music compels me to picture myself falling into a dark abyss. The undulating main theme sets the mood for the entire piece. All the additional voicings grow in intensity. It is sublime; swelling and foreboding. Another Powell opus. Well done. Cheers!
@@CiciVonStrangelove If you could check out our original work, it would be a great honor! All feedback from talented artists is welcome. It's called The D&A Experiment.
Incredible sound, I am so plugging in my noise cancelling headphones ASAP, playing this, and just closing my eyes and letting the music take me on a journey
So beautiful, in the moment feeling comes, so moveing,..Thanks dear Cici,....i still waiting for Warwick to add you as exclusive artist,...you are painting atmosheres like no other,..have a nice week and Merry Xmaas,...=) love cheers to you and Dave,...
From death unto life and darkness into light. Awesome track, reminds me of the soundtrack to the girl with the dragon tattoo. Love the whistling whales thing. Thanks!
Man that first loop was gnarly 😂 ❤ it! I’ve just got a kit for a zyvex fuzz factory clone to build, can’t wait to see what it’s like with Bass! I like what Matt Belamy does with it on guitar so if it’s not good on Bass my Telecaster will have a new friend 😊 Really enjoyed your impro, some of those highs sounded epic!
I think Cliff Burton would of digged this 👌🤘 Also the effect you started using at 5:01 sounding a bit like the whistling from the Good, Bad and the Ugly 😂😂😂 Which a dark/horror sphagetti western would be sick!!
Dude!... That 6th interval in the loop is really nice! Some juicy licks in there too! Awesome performance Cici, I enjoyed listening to this a lot! Love the ambience. You can hear where your inspirations come from but there's also so much of your own creativity speaking through the sounds. Beautiful work Cici! (edit additional.. and of course YT queued up Tool right after this video!.. Appropriate)
@@CiciVonStrangelove 6:25 onward is particularly fascinating, wonderful integrations of harmonies and sonic character. What effect are you controlling with the expression pedal? sounds like the tone or the feedback of the saturation?
I could listen to you play all day. Its other worldly. Im shopping for a bass and have never played guitar or bass but i should have many years ago. I think i was supposed to play my whole life but iv had a long rough one so now im older and just know its time. What bass would you recommend. Im not rich so i cant spend thousands. I know there are great affordable ones though. My style i love is like justin chancellor style play. And i love how you play. Over time i hope be get as talented as you both
Such beautiful noises as always. I'm starting to venture into pedal territory and started on a Morley fuzz wah and boss DS1 to get some Cliff tones and a little of your sound. What others do you recommend? Thanks :)
Ahh wow, that’s amazing! One of my most used pedals is the Golden Plexi mark 2 by Tone City, really affordable and sounds amazing! I run it with the gain quite low so it’s just adding some grit to the tone, it also cleans up nicely when you play lightly. But it goes really distorted if you crank the gain :)
With your gifts and talent and ability to visualize sounds in a unique way I could see you scoring soundtracks for films Cici! This piece would fit really well os a film track.
That's one band I haven't got to see in concert unfortunately. They are one of my favorites! Keep on rocking! You should record an album btw!!! @@CiciVonStrangelove
Is mankind beginning to lose consciousness again because it has become a hindrance in our ever more perfunctory society? Imagine how much better a world would be where this was played in shopping malls...
That ambient sound rocks. Hell, you should do more! What would you rec: the Morley Wah you have or the Ibanez WH103V3? I'm looking for a wah pedal, I saw your vid but it's 2 years old and you're using a Morley (which is AWESOME!) so, since you tried both… which would you choose?
@@AmandaCopeteShin thanks so much! I have a few more like this, especially ‘Strangelove’ and ‘Rainmarch’ :) there’s a playlist on my channel titled ‘my music’ with a bunch of stuff. Glad you enjoyed it! Personally I prefer the Morley, but there’s not much in it, both are amazing for bass in my personal experience!
