I’m grateful for this opportunity - but what I didn’t expect was Thomas THE PERSON off the camera, who genuinely cares about shit like helping me navigate being a father of two, making a great marriage, and navigating the toxic side of social media. I got a great chance to teach what I’m passionate about, and I gained a friend to help me navigate this wild world. I wish more people got the chance to meet Thomas behind the scenes. Thanks brother
So inspired by your content, but the love you both have for your families and others is the true blessing ❤. This world needs more Thomases and Patricks!!!
Please can you do a deep dive on "wear and tear" arthritis of the hip. Conventional doctors just say wait for it to get bad enough then have a hip replacement! They tellmymotber to rest and not move, but she will lose muscle. This time last year she was walking outdoors. Now still in her 50s, she's pain and getting less flexible and gaining weight. No advice on diet, fasting, body muscle to fat ratio, exercise, gut health or supplements etc. I feel taking high strength painkillers daily then other medications to mitigate the negative side effects of the painkillers on stomach and then layering that with advice to have a biscuit or toast doesn't seem to promote overall health. Pain management at any cost on full body health and quality of life.
I found the perfect sled to push and pull, my lawn mower. After I mowed my lawn and I turned it off and I'm pushing it across the lawn to put it in the shed it was hard so I turned around and pulled it backwards and that's when the light bulb went on. I'm I plan to push and pull my lawn mower across the lawn with the engine off for 5 minutes every day to get my knees and body in shape. I'm 77 and still mowing my own lawn
A few more great idea is a wheely bin, a pram and a wheelbarrow.....and you could add weight to all of them for resistance but hard to add weight to a lawnmower.
Knees over toes totally healed my knees. Its a much more comfortable position for me than knees in aligned with the toes. And I read once from the British guy who has the world record in running the mile backwards that any issue with your knees is 100% cures by walking/running back wards!
I Do not live in a town with an exercise gym anywhere. But I started doing Ben's backwards walking about 6 months ago on my daily walk. I do it while going around a local middle school track. I then spend about 30 minutes bending over and pruning the wild blackberrie bushes in our neighborhood. My knees and back no longer keep me awake at night in pain. It was horrible. I just turned 70 and am in the best physical shape since my 30's when I used to run and play racquetball. Thanks Ben for all the great information. And of course you too Thomas!
Great video! The timing is spot on. These exercises are awesome. Question for you... have you ever tried Next Level Diet? I got a muscle-building meal plan from them that's worked wonders for me.
6:30 i lived in Vietnam for a while and saw quite a lot of elderly people walking backwards in parks and stuff. Always thought it was kind of weird. but now it makes a lot of sense
Great video, some valuable info there. For those of you who don’t go to a gym and want to incorporate some sled type movements into your exercise routine, if you have a wheelbarrow at home load it up with a decent amount of weight that you can safely handle and alternate pushing and pulling the barrow around. It’ll be easiest on a flat paved surface to start with, for more resistance move to a grassy area then find a hill/incline as you build up your fitness. Load it up with more weight as you progress.
Sometimes you have to improvise. Don't have access to a sled. But, I do have an older heavier lawnmower and a slope in my back yard. Plus I can add some weight to the base under the engine. I use it w/o running the motor. Also, going backward with a wheelbarrow with stuff in it is another option I have.
Carnivore/keto together with Kneesovertoesguy has completely removed knee pain when squatting and running, making workouts a joy. Thanks to both of you.
Recommend it to people with epilepsy/ADD too. I'm ADHD and since I've started exercising routinely and switching to high protein/fat low carb ratios I can focus better. That coupled with meditation has greatly increased my ability to cope with symptoms. And not only focus but I can willingly shift my focus and keep it there, it doesn't jump around nearly as much. I wish I had known this stuff years ago.
I started pulling my lawn mower sometimes instead of only pushing it. Carefully of course. It seems to do a lot of good for me. Not my first time learning from the Kneesovertoesguy. Thanks so much for bringing him on your video!
I had knee pain for decades. No doctor could find a cause. I was taking 12 Nuprens a day at my US Postal Service job. Finally, I was offered an "Early Out" retirement and I took it after 30 years of pain. Fast forward three decades, same pain, and I needed a hip replacement. My doctor had me lie back on the exam table, grabbed my ankles and yanked. He said "Your not level. When I do your hip replacement I'll level you up and you won't have any more knee pain." After four months of PT I was I was "back on my feet", litteraly, with no knee pain. That was three years ago. For those of you who have this problem, "ask your doctor" to check the lengths of your legs to see if they are even.
I've been a subscriber here for a few years now and have benefitted greatly, finding new products, gaining insight into my nutrition needs, and learning about metabolic causes and effects. I've also been coached by Ben and his team of coaches for couple of years now. It seems inevitable that the two would come together and it is gratifying to see they agree on so many levels. Keep it up, Thomas and Ben! You are both providing invaluable service.
I do those sled movements with my push lawnmower. Never realized it was helping me with knee strength. Great to know, but I hope my wife doesn’t see this or I’ll be doing yard work more often.
The collab we didn't know we needed. Both of these guys make great content. Ben's exercises has helped me recover from my ACL reconstruction surgery. Still got a long way to go to get back to my old self but I will be using his methods to get me there.
Fear not age Thomas, I’m three score years with hip and knee replacement and Ben’s enthusiasm and training have helped me enormously and his books and you tube channel are incredibly informative. I’ve not seen your channel before, but this was really informative. Thank you
Thomas, can't tell you how much I needed this!! THANK YOU! My knees keep me awake at night but the sled has been SO helpful! (And thanks for being such a friend to him👍)
Here are some other sled alternatives I’ve found if you’re looking for more: Walk on treadmill backwards at max incline, driving the ball of your foot into the ground. Could make this a farmer carry to get the full body working. Use cable machine and walk backwards Push a car backwards in neutral with someone at the wheel Walk up a hill backwards Maybe- bike backwards on the stationary bike
For pushing sled forward, you can wear a weight vest and put treadmill incline all the way up. Or without a vest, just lean forward a little and act like you are pushing.
I have been subscribed to Thomas for 5 years when I started keto + IF…. Just discovered KOTG 6 months ago and love you both. Ben is infectiously passionate, and generous…
I absolutely love the Knees Over Toe Guy I have been for a long time I finally took his advice and started walking/ running back in April slowly I have increased my exercise combing walking and a slow jog in between my jog I incorporated walking backwards I have horrible arthritis in my knees back and neck so exercise was painful so I never did it but he has motivated me to move and after several months of just walking backwards in between my work out my muscles in my legs have strengthened so I am not just able to walk backwards I lunge backwards and run backwards just until I feel the burn but walking backwards is the key I have gone from working out once a week to actually doing 19 miles this week I am glad I found him next I’m going to start working on my back . I’m I not very young I just celebrated 53 yikes finally I feel back to myself being able to put in 5 miles a day feels great. Thanks Knees Over Toes Guy now let’s fix the back ❤
At work get a pallet jack. Lift up a skid with enough weight. Walk it backwards. Great knee health. You can do your work, get paid while working out your knee health.
A good warm up I use is to walk backwards on a treadmill with the treadmill off. Hold the handles for balance and then you have to slightly push in order to move the belt, but it's like a next step up from normal walking backwards, it just adds the right amount of resistance 💪 Also it's proven that by training the muscles that move you backwards actually makes you quicker at moving forwards better than if you trained the muscles that make you move forward😂 I find that so interesting.
With this in mind, I tried walking upstairs backwards - it's even got a built in hand rail to steady yourself! Bearing in mind how many times we use stairs in our homes, seems like an easy way to build this training into our lives.
I need this. I have had knee pain my whole life. I watched the video and thought, "What if i go up stairs in reverse"? I tried it and it made things a little more challenging.
If a person is overweight and that affects the exercise being done or NOT being done, as in my case, I suggest stepping back and evaluating your eating habits as well as what foods you are predominately eating. By doing this I lost 35 pounds prior to joining a gym, and feel more able to do the exercises. That coupled with actually seeing results (however small) makes me want to exercise more. Also learn the difference between pain and discomfort. Discomfort is to be expected when breaking down and then building up muscle tissue. SHARP pain is a warning. Stop immediately and rethink, modify or substitute. There are many ways to reach the same objective.
We used to push our drag cars to the starting line to avoid starting the engine and putting too much heat into the engine before a race. Best workout in a short time.
It's so crazy I just instinctively started mixing running forward and backwards and sideways few years ago. Just made sense to me to hit all muscles and joints from different angles. Now I know why my knee was feeling better after doing that 🤘😎🤘
2 of my favourite people on the internet together in the same place discussing my 2 favourite subjects - nutrition and movement? What a great video guys, thank you. More! More!
….meaning noticing more inflammation each birthday …. And I am ideal weight and fit . I eat well except when I blow it 3 or 4 nights a week lol how to get better on this
Love your comment at 14:30 mark ,it is so crucial & the biggest fault with most trainers / exercise classes and programs … you need to be able to slowly build body strength before crazy hit classes etc … everyone wants a quick fast fix. I see lots of injuries bc of these programs bc there is no basic strength
Great video! I always like finding new ways to alleviate issues, or just find ways to improve upon my current fitness regimen. As a cyclist, I think this could really help me out.
Here are three more that have been HUGE for cyclists I’ve trained: ATG Split Squat: ruclips.net/video/Q0rwMyW79zc/видео.html Reverse Squats: ruclips.net/video/eGkK__gFeb0/видео.html Couch Stretch: ruclips.net/video/wXXtP-85N3E/видео.html
Fantastic video! My boyfriend got overweight but has dramatically lost weight but he needs to do some lifting to tighten up. He has been doing hypertrophy training with me and seeing good results but his joints and knees hurt. He was a professional motocross racer and has a lot of past injuries. I’m so glad I found this video and will have him do some of these exercises
I'm almost to the point where if I see someone I don't know with a knee brace on I will tell them about Ben (kneesovertoesguy) to help fix. All because watching and trying his exercises have helped my knees so much. I'm in my 40's and had ACL surgery and a torn meniscus but now my knees feel great!
I'm 43 yr old male , getting ready to have acl reconstruction and bucket handle medial meniscus tear that needs repair. I'm hoping these exercises will help me out afterwards when I'm ready to get to this point. Any pointers
Thomas!! Excellent content!! Excellent guest this time!! My favorite part of this "tube shot" is Ben working you out enough to hear you breathing a bit faster!! Thank you for being so involved in physical fitness from all aspects of well being!
Wondering about some who has very low blood sugar and low blood pressure? I can afford a drop in blood sugar or blood pressure to drop, as it causes me to pas out.
Use a calorie counter and only go into maybe a 100-200 calorie deficit until your weight plateaus then reduce by maybe another 100 and just rinse and repeat till you're where you want to be. Also high fibre foods keep you full for longer
Thomas...this couldn't have come at a better time!!! Fyi, did u know recent studies are showing c.vid impact on joint pain and inflammation is significant? I recently met with an orthopedic surgeon about my sudden onset debilitating joint pain in knees, hips, feet, shoulders and back. This is what I was told. Current studies suggest that the protiens from an infection collect in the gut and joints and cause inflammation. No information is available yet as to solutions and treatments but it is more than is available online rn so for anyone out there dealing with mystery symptoms leave a comment and I can tell you what combinations of things I am findingseem to be helping improve my condition. We are all different but together maybe we can navigate these uncharted waters a little less crazy 🤪
I'm sorry I cannot go back to my breakfasts again (keep in mind I allow myself once every other Sunday a breakfast) because I really suck at controlling my eating in the evening... for me it is much easier to overcome hunger in the morning then in the evening. I'm down from 290 to 220lb @6'1" for a few years now nevertheless it's still a fight with my self every morning to overcome hunger but I praise the Lord for giving me the power to overcome myself. Cheers.
I gave up breakfast years ago when I decided to switch from weekly fasting to daily fasting. I eat my larger meal at noon, and I eat my lighter meal at 5:15pm. I fast from 6pm until my noon meal. The result - maintaining a healthy weight, leveling my glucose, lowering my blood pressure, no sluggish feeling after breakfast - full of energy all morning, no more cravings, no more bingeing, never feeling hungry. I will never go back to breakfast!
This is insane. I can’t run because the pain in my knees and shins. I cycle for miles with great endurance but running is something that’s not possible. Excited to try this out!
How timely. My car battery died and as I have to wait 5 days to get it fixed and needed food after a 3 day fast. I bought a trolley with 3 wheels on each side to pull up the stairs (I have 3 floors to go). I had to pull it up the stairs and walk 15 min to the grocery store pushing it forward and backward on my way back (a slight hill. My shins are so soar. I wondered if these movements were not good but this vid shows that movement with the machine. I feel better about using my shopping trolley now! .
This is like the best of both worlds advice in one video. Fantastic for anyone wanting to understand the basic principles of body mechanics and dietary mechanics 👌🏽
That’s great!!! Can you tell me another thing: What blood and other tests do I have to do and what levels do I have to check? I am doing 2.5 years keto and intermittent fasting about 85-90% of the time.
It might work for others but I did a rubber band assisted, very low load baring exercise as he shows in one of his videos and it tore my meniscus and caused a fluid cyst at the back of my knee. I’ve not been able to straighten my leg or walk properly since.
I just learned in my AP class that the synovial sac in your knees, elbows, and shoulder all only make nutrients for the tendons, ligaments, and surrounding tissues by moving. In other words, you have to literally extend and flex your joints in order to pump the synovial sacs for nutrients. Think of them like an air pumper for a fire.
5:50 if you can't sled backward, wear a pair of sliding shoes (but it need a bit of resistance) put your back on a wall and try to push that wall with your back, it's the same thing
Call a local tree company and get a job dragging brush! 🙃 love the channel it helps an industrial athlete like me not only rehabilitate, but also maintain and prevent injuries.
Great video! Can you do the sled/backward walk and 3x20 everyday? And what alternative can you use for sled to mimic that feeling besides simple backward walking
I would need the answer to this too. My plan is to do sled walking 4 times a week as that's the number of times I am in the gym. But the slant board step down, 3x20 daily?
I’ve followed ben’s work outs for over a year and do exactly what he was talking about (upper body and a kneesovertoesguy’s leg exercise) combined workout daily. As far as nutrition I want to know what Ben’s take on what he does. He doesn’t talk much about it so I’m curious if he does something differently because he’s not really into weight loss
I feel you heard me Thomas... In started to run to lose weight and hurt my knee badly. I am going to start walking sand running in backward direction and do those knee flexing exercises. I have tyre pulling workout too.
I had pre-surgery physical therapy for torn meniscus. I am 59 years old and after 3 weeks my pt had me doing 475 lb. sled push/pulls which worsened my pain and then few months later had surgery now going to post-op pt and different facility that doesn't even have a sled. Anybody have any thoughts? And I'm in week 5 of post op pt and knee still hurts.
Thank you for such an informative video. Enjoy it a lot and learned a lot!! Will be implementing these things for me and my 15 year old son. Keep them coming as I am older, have been overweight all my life and my son is following in my foot steps unfortunately. I am a female soon to be 60 and I work 12 hours on night shift, trying to lose 44 pounds and be an inspiration for my son. Because of my changing schedule I don't think intermittent fasting would work for me except maybe the 12 hour one.
Another great substitute for a sled is simply pushing backwards (Or forwards) on a threadmill, or as they are sometimes called, deadmills. There is some variety in whether it's good for the threadmill or not, seems to be bad for some mechanisms, fine for others, but I don't think it's particularly more damaging to equipment then rack pulls, which we all consider fair game.
It hit me watching the step on the bad that if the surface has give like the pad you first stepped on, it also addresses another issue people with weak knees have. You have to stabilize your ankle while doing the exercise, strengthening the whole chain.
If you don’t have access to a sled (like me), you can go into the pool and walk forward and backwards but do so with a big lean in your body so you are mimicking the sled. The water adds the resistance needed
ATG is the future of Athletic training. The most athleticism I’ve gained back since my sport injuries (D1 football). 3 surgery’s, herniated disc, KO’d concussion, torn Hamstring, torn ankle etc… After 1 month of working on ATG, I’m naturally grabbing rim again (haven’t even started the athletic movements yet, just have been working on mobility/ strength through flexibility). Thankful I’ve come across it!
I did a lot of research into how macros actually work in the body and immediately altered my macro intake. Easily/Moderately Digestible carbs in the morning just made logical sense as you'd be very likely to use those carbs over the course of the day, in the afternoon i either skip lunch or try to go for the harder to digest carbs, at night i don't touch carbs with a 10y stick unless i worked out or plan to work out that evening, and as for sugars i try to limit those as much as feasibly possible to right before, during or after i do something moderately intensive, brisk walks/jogs, work out session, cardio session even a chore that requires some intensity. Understanding how macros function in your body is key to managing what your body does with them.... crazy simple when you think about it but i never did until i looked into it
Thank you for this video. Always looking to improve my health. Just one question. Will this help for all types of knee pain? I had ACL reconstruction at 21. I'm 40 know and struggling with meniscus tears and tenderness. My knee feel tender if I do leg exercises. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks.
Learned more from these 2 dudes in the last 2 years than I could've possibly imagined. Not just learning though, but doing! Just think I used to think I knew stuff LOL 😜

Smart! Thank you 🫡
This^
I was about to say the same. No need for a sled, just push and pull the lawnmower
great idea! perhaps where cleats so that you are less likely to slip and fall
I've been doing the same lol

Was getting ready to buy a cheap sled on line, gonna try putting weight plate’s on my old lawn mower first. Thanks
She can do yard work, too. Just like you can do laundry.
No reason why a woman can't also mow the lawn. It's not brain surgery
That’s a great idea.

Finally a video that addresses knee pain for those of us that have the desire to strengthen our legs without pain. Thank you!
YES! I HATE working through pain. I never ever do it. We don’t have to and we can still get amazing legs. 🫡
@@TheKneesovertoesguy you know shit about OA...you seem to think, there is just one type of "knee pain"....ridiculous
Great video!
I always like finding new ways to alleviate issues, or just find ways to improve upon my current fitness regimen. As a cyclist, I think this could really help me out.
Here are three more that have been HUGE for cyclists I’ve trained:
ATG Split Squat: ruclips.net/video/Q0rwMyW79zc/видео.html
Reverse Squats: ruclips.net/video/eGkK__gFeb0/видео.html
Couch Stretch: ruclips.net/video/wXXtP-85N3E/видео.html
@@TheKneesovertoesguy thank you!
What exercise did he mention as an alternative to Sled work?
Walking backwards?
knees over toes guy is making an impact for sure. i see his exercises being done with trainers in the gym
Best segment in a long time, keep it coming!!!
Thank you so much!
Fascinating.
It's like EVERYTHING we have ever been taught is wrong. I am Relearning about life at 53.
Same haha.
I'm 43 yr old male , getting ready to have acl reconstruction and bucket handle medial meniscus tear that needs repair. I'm hoping these exercises will help me out afterwards when I'm ready to get to this point. Any pointers
@@d.r.cuevas4214 Have you considered canceling surgery and instead doing the kneesovertoesguy exercises first?
@@DTA-dh5rk no, just had surgery today and when I can start to incorporate knees over toes exercises to strengthen me knees.
I believe you can reverse that 🫡
How did I miss this collab? Epic!
I respect both these guys so much. They provide SO MUCH HELPFUL INFORMATION on their channels to so many people!
Love this collaboration, knees over toes guy is the man!
This is insane. I can’t run because the pain in my knees and shins. I cycle for miles with great endurance but running is something that’s not possible. Excited to try this out!
Have you tried? Did it help?
I feel better about using my shopping trolley now! .
Haha amazing!
This is like the best of both worlds advice in one video. Fantastic for anyone wanting to understand the basic principles of body mechanics and dietary mechanics 👌🏽
That’s great!!!
Can you tell me another thing:
What blood and other tests do
I have to do and what levels do
I have to check?
I am doing 2.5 years keto and intermittent fasting about 85-90% of the time.
Great video. Two of my trusted guys
Thank you!
lovely collab!!
So much information in this. Thank you guys. I will be ordering those slant blocks. Very excited to get started.
Fascinating! So grateful that I’m able to subscribe to you, Thomas!
5:50 if you can't sled backward, wear a pair of sliding shoes (but it need a bit of resistance) put your back on a wall and try to push that wall with your back, it's the same thing
Love this video , re managing IR.
Thanks so much for this video! Thanks for the great explanation on how to get started.
Excellent guest! Two of my favorite guys committed to serving humanity!
Just like pushing a lawn mower! I hate winter. Good content. Thanks
Hey Thomas long time! Life hiccups right.
This is amazing information from thanks.
So impressive to see you two together! Thomas, you are such a humble teacher. Thank you!!
2 thumbs up Thomas!!!!
YES!!!!!! Thank you
Amazing information ❤
Great Info
Thank you Thomas 😊 💓
Call a local tree company and get a job dragging brush! 🙃 love the channel it helps an industrial athlete like me not only rehabilitate, but also maintain and prevent injuries.
Great video! Can you do the sled/backward walk and 3x20 everyday? And what alternative can you use for sled to mimic that feeling besides simple backward walking
I would need the answer to this too. My plan is to do sled walking 4 times a week as that's the number of times I am in the gym. But the slant board step down, 3x20 daily?
Great collab! Big fan of both you guys!
Two of the most influential guys on my social media collaborating, that's the dopest thing I've seen today. I hope to see more of collabs like these 😁
I’ve followed ben’s work outs for over a year and do exactly what he was talking about (upper body and a kneesovertoesguy’s leg exercise) combined workout daily. As far as nutrition I want to know what Ben’s take on what he does. He doesn’t talk much about it so I’m curious if he does something differently because he’s not really into weight loss
Thank you so much
I feel you heard me Thomas... In started to run to lose weight and hurt my knee badly. I am going to start walking sand running in backward direction and do those knee flexing exercises. I have tyre pulling workout too.
I had pre-surgery physical therapy for torn meniscus. I am 59 years old and after 3 weeks my pt had me doing 475 lb. sled push/pulls
which worsened my pain and then few months later had surgery now going to post-op pt and different facility that doesn't even have a sled.
Just do intermittent fasting
This was great!
Great techniques that I never would have considered on my own. Big thanks 🙏🏽
Awesome video
It hit me watching the step on the bad that if the surface has give like the pad you first stepped on, it also addresses another issue people with weak knees have. You have to stabilize your ankle while doing the exercise, strengthening the whole chain.
Can you start these exercises through knee pain? Or should you start on a day your knees don't have pain?
Awesome stuff guys!
Almost felt like a podcast. Great conversation
what cut of steak is great to use for steak and eggs for breakfast?
If you don’t have access to a sled (like me), you can go into the pool and walk forward and backwards but do so with a big lean in your body so you are mimicking the sled. The water adds the resistance needed
ATG is the future of Athletic training. The most athleticism I’ve gained back since my sport injuries (D1 football). 3 surgery’s, herniated disc, KO’d concussion, torn Hamstring, torn ankle etc…
After 1 month of working on ATG, I’m naturally grabbing rim again (haven’t even started the athletic movements yet, just have been working on mobility/ strength through flexibility).
Thankful I’ve come across it!
At 6’2- 250. Played sports (D-line/ O-line) at 285/300. Goal is to be around 225/230 while I progress.
@@Chadx92x - what is ATG ?
One of your best videos ever!
Thanks.
Two legends. One video. Awesome to see. 👍🏻
Will these exercises help my 15 year old son with osgood-schlatter?

How do you start doing this workout when you already have bad knee pain?
