Hey actually i have a question :) you mention that applying topical antioxidant is better before exposure to UV radiation as apposed to after, as much of the damage may already have been done. Is there data around how long the topical application will continue to benefit your skin? For example, I apply my morning routine at 8am, moisturise, EGCG serum, sunscreen and then head out to work, many hours in the sun and come home at 6pm. For how many hours is that ECGC (or other AO) helping to combat the free radicals? And if its only a few hours, should I reapply during the day? Appreciate there may not be data on this, but any thoughts from you would be cool! thx!! :)

There sure are, but many (if not most of them) list green tea polyphenols as EGCG. So you may have better luck finding something if you search for that keyword. The one I have is the Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG from The Ordinary. It is supposed to be an eye serum but it irritates my eye area and I can't use it for its intended purpose. I didn't want to throw it away though, so I figured: why not use it for the rest of my face that isn't as irritation prone. It has been working great for me.

I 👨 believe topical antioxidants are overrated, doesn’t REALLY work ( does not penetrates the skin) and a hype pushed by cosmetic companies to sell MORE crap to weak people. I’ve used serums to lotions to potions, NONE of which I’ve saw ANY differences. My rule: eat your colorful veggies, fruits and brans on a daily bases, use Retin- A cream/gel, a good night/day face moisturizer, and your fave sunscreen(s). Also, lots of water and avoid as much sugar as you can. DO NOT‼️ buy into the craziness of buying Toners. See, it’s THAT simple and cost less down the road.

Vitamin C works pretty well, and it's quite well documented that antioxidants can help "cheat" SPF tests by decreasing redness (although whether it's a bad thing is up for debate). I think a lot of antioxidants and antioxidant products probably don't work, but some of them do!

You didn't see a difference because antioxidants are largely preventative. At least I thought that was the assumption we are operating under. What were you expecting to see?

50% agree. Some antioxidants can penetrate skin to the point that they're useful. Such as vitamin c. Even some plant extracts. But not all are effective and deep penetrate. And yes, why do we need toner thing. I don't understand too. A serum concentrated with active ingredients and a moisturizer will do.
