      Hi Jason, Thanks for watching and your feed back. Its a roller coaster ride for an accountant making YT videos. Am constantly working to improve the videos, but it is a slow process. This is a step in the right direction, but have still a lot to do to achieve my ideal videos.

    I only got interested in bonsai late this year. I have no interest in simply *buying* something which a grower has imported or grown himself. I'm less interested in the finished product than the science of growing something myself. I plan to do exactly this and also air layer some of the things I can find on my own land or in the local area.
    ~I am so pleased I discovered your videos and will be binge watching them over the weekend.

      Thank you for watching and commenting.
      The Weeping Willows are extremely easy to grow and care for, all they need is watering as described in my willow videos and Pruning. These Willows did very well and the trunks had turned narly dark colour, looking like the trunks of large willow trees. Except for one very young willow all have been sold.
      I wouldn't bore you with the details, I was off YT for long time. I have returned and started uploading new videos. Thus far I have uploaded two and a third one is being worked on.

      Hello Karin, Great to have you here. I planted my cuttings in cat litter. The pruned branches I cut up and stuck them in water and they are rooting like crazy, these I intent to plant them in Grit, I may add bit of pine bark, but not decided yet. These cuttings will grow in pretty much any soil as long as the pot is placed in a bowl or tray of water. Keep us updated with pics on fb in mikbonsai group.

Thank you for your feed back, am striving to improve the videos over the coming months, for me it is a slow process unlike my friend Nigel, his day job working with multimedia. Things are slowly improving, my ankle injury is taking a long time to heal. Other wise slowly getting back into bonsai and video making. The video production is not at the level it was a year ago and that too needs to improve.

    Why you didn't work at the top part at first? It make the work easier, I always do this way

    • @mikbonsai
      @mikbonsai  5 лет назад

      I like to work from bottom up. I decide on the length of the first branch and work up reducing the upper branches and keeping in proportion to the lower ones. As I work my way up, the upper branches are kept slightly smaller than the lower ones. There is not right or wrong way. You could start from the top and work down. I work from bottom to top as that is what I was taught in my bonsai lessons and am used to it. I hope that makes sense.

    • @mikbonsai
      @mikbonsai  4 года назад +3

      This is a particular type of Cat Litter. Its made from clay, heated to very high temperatures and it turns into little particles. Its very hard, just like the Japanese Akadama which is harvested and crushed volcanic rock. When the clay is hear to very high temperatures it developes qualities of volcanic rock.
