  • In today's video I address more about how to tell if someone is faking tourettes. A lot of people on TikTok have faked tourettes and it's been really harmful to the community, so I address people like ticsandroses and let viewers know some key signs in how to tell if someone is faking. This video is strictly about reacting to ticsandroses and their faking of tourettes on tiktok.
    Check out part one here: • Girl with Real Tourett...
    As a girl with Tourette's, I would love to spread awareness and education about my disorder, as I feel it is quite misunderstood in today's society. The media has made it out to be a swearing disorder only, which is far from true. I hope this video will educate you on Tourette Syndrome and tic disorders! Life with Tourettes can be difficult, but just know that we're the same as everyone else...except for the fact we tic like clocks! (:
    Thanks for watching!

    PSA: TicsandRoses uses they/them pronouns and I did slip up a few times in this video by misgendering them. I apologize to all of the viewers I may have offended. Even though I don’t agree with their actions, it’s basic human decency to respect someone’s pronouns 💕

      It's great effort to destroy the seriousness for people who are really affected due to tics etc.
      I hate it. Very very much. And I can't believe that so many people can't see thru it and believe it or find it funny whatever.
      I've once seen a documentary about it and it's been about a young family and the father was ticking pretty bad and he was so scared to hold his child because he didn't wanna do any harm. He was devastated and he was seriously suffering due to his condition. It wasn't funny at all 😔

    My cousin who has tourettes was playing with me and my little sister at the playground, and this boy came up and asked if he could play with us. It was only an hour into us playing together until he asked, "Do you always make that noise?" Instead of getting offended, my cousin explained really well what tourettes was and the kid was like, "Oh, yeah, I've seen about that online before." And we just went back to playing and it wasn't awkward at all. I was really happy about this because I once told someone he had tourettes because it came up in conversation, and he goes, "What, really?? Is he faking it?" That pissed me off because so many people are used to these scumbags faking disabilities online that the real people who struggle with the real thing are being erased/overlooked. Please keep spreading awareness and doing what you're doing, the world needs more people like you. ❤

Choosing your tics, or what they will entail subject wise, is like saying that someone who is suffering from a stroke can choose which side of their body is affected. It does NOT happen. I definitely believe in the “no judgement until proof” mindset. Tics and roses makes me feel upset though. I have been accused of faking Tourette’s because my tics are very mild to almost gone when I smoke. But without my medical card I’d be ticking non stop. I don’t think tics and roses actually genuinely realizes the damage they have done. Or if they do. They don’t care. It’s like you said, it feels like they are making a mockery of it. For example, the tic that you had at 6:22, and saying “Hi,” made my head involuntarily twitch to the left a little bit. So, it kind of triggered it ( Not in a bad way, mind you. ) I hate stimming. It makes me feel embarrassed. Like, what am I doing? I’m a fully grown adult, and am acting like a child. So sad to see people making fun of disabled people like us. Much love!❤️❤️👏🏻

    It’s pretty obvious when people are faking it. Most people with Tourette’s don’t think it’s quirky or cute, and when they have tics in public they are usually embarrassed because it’s hard to explain. Tiktokers that fake it think it’s cute or funny when they “have tics” and aren’t embarrassed at all. That’s a really good and easy way to tell

      I don't specifically have tourettes but wow do people do this a lot with any disorder that has significant effects on the way you interact with the world. They latch on to some idea of when it would be "fun" or "quirky" to have it present and then just completely ignore that it just happens all the time and you have absolutely no control. It isn't very funny when my hands just let go of my dinner that is the only thing I have to eat and the simple act of cleaning up the mess might leave me on the ground. Not the mention any medication needs that might have side effects or the sheer cost of doctor's visits and co pays even if you are lucky enough to have insurance at all.

The fact that, in this case specifically about TS, I can’t imagine suffering, and going though a lot, yet seeing people make a mockery and being so tone deaf all for v8ews, attention and validation. Someone faking a medical condition just for clout while real ts sufferers are not laughing, giggling about such conveniently timed tics, making videos and even profiting off it.
      When I first found out about ticsandroses, I actually thought they were being a-holes and trolling, like Trisha paytas. I don’t have ts, so I really can’t say nor even have much place to comment about ts and tics, but I will say I thought ticsandroses were way too fake, showy, “cutesy” especially the giggling and really inauthentic. It looked like a very poor and tone deaf attempt at what she believes ts looks/acts like.

    THIS^^^ Thank you for posting !!!!! As a 47 yr old with TS , I have had to bite my lip so many times when I have seen someone faking. It's crazy like it's become a new fashion accessory or something! The one thing that I think stands out the most with all those faking it is their muscle tone and lack of resulting pain and/or fatigue. When ticcing it often feels to me like the muscles involved in the tic are contracted to the point of being strained ( and they sometimes are ) and this can bloody hurt on a bad day. With vocal tics I often find that half the time I don't even remember what I have just said or it takes me a while to process the sound or word/s I have produced. With the majority of fakers they will react to what they have said or done way too quickly for it to have been genuine. Thanks for calling out these twats xxx

Echolalia is a very real thing, but it presents in an almost uncontrolled manner. I’ve seen it with Tourette’s and with ASD. It’s not just a simple repeated word. I mean it is, but it’s like a cd skipping. For the most part, I’ve noticed people don’t react much to their normal minor tics because it’s so everyday for them. Not to mention if they paused every time they did they’d never accomplish anything. I have seen a video of someone from Australia who had one of the most severe cases ever recorded. He’s taking meds now but he still has moments when he feels the need to run to the bathroom to hide his vocal tics.

    Someone pointed out that there is evidence that she may have Huntington's disease as it runs in her family and can result in muscle spasms similar to tics, however, tics and roses produced a "document" stating she has been diagnosed with both Tourette's and Huntington's. you cant be diagnosed with Tourette's if you have Huntington's. your tics will always be attributed to Huntington's. She also listed pretty much every form of anxiety you can have, separately on this document. it would not be listed like that on a real medical document. it would be given an umbrella term such as General Anxiety Disorders.

      OH... Huntington's can have quite severe effects on personality as it progresses... I don't know anything about this person, but if they do have Huntington's in their family, that makes me wonder if the sort of lack of empathy & insight they've displayed could _possibly_ be due to Huntington's, but ofc people are just nasty for no reason every day, so who knows. It just struck me as significant.

      @@animalsandiphones But it wasn’t with tics and roses their family called them out on it on a post stating they didn’t have it nor was diagnosed with it by an actual doctor. Tics and Roses proof was called out as fake and it was. Their diagnosis wasn’t even done by a real doctor. I understand medications etc but this one is fake sadly. Tics and roses actually deleted their TikTok account as soon as they were called out with proof.

    Seeing their fake tics set off your real ones made me so sad. I know you said you chose this, but it’s still so hard to watch you actually suffer while they’re basically making a mockery of such a debilitating disability and the people, like you, who have to live with it. I don't have tourettes, but I do have tics associated with other disorders. For years, I've had eye rolling, head tossing/turning, and a sort of jaw movement that resembles yours, and I just wanted to say that seeing someone with tics similar to mine is a really amazing feeling. I don't quite know how to describe it, but it really made me feel less alone. I've never seen someone with tics that resemble mine, and I always worried about them being "ugly" in some way. Seeing them on someone else, I realize that they're really... Not. I feel safer about my own tics after seeing this. Thank you for putting yourself out there to educate and offer support :)

    I can’t believe humans can’t instinctively tell the difference between authentic and faking a disorder. I’ve worked with people with Tourette’s and those people have such a hard time in life. It’s also a very hard disorder to treat, unfortunately. I’ve heard it described to me like trying to suppress a sneeze…. all the time. Which if you’ve ever tried to stop a sneeze, that is not easy.

    • @NatLaS
      @NatLaS Год назад +21

      Sadly (in a way), not everyone has that type of experience to look back on. If someone’s first ever encounter with Tourette’s syndrome is a faker on the Internet, how would they ever be able to know that they’re not authentic? I have never interacted with someone with Tourette’s syndrome for example

    • @leeartlee915
      @leeartlee915 Год назад +6

      @@NatLaS I mean, I both agree with what you’re saying and I don’t. Most people have never known some with active psychosis but we instinctively know when someone is having a break from reality and when someone is faking it (if anyone would ever do such a thing). Humans are a strange creature. We all have the ability to lie and will do it at some point in our lives. And yet, when we speak with someone, we always tend to give people the benefit of the doubt.
      I guess I am just a naturally skeptic. Probably is part of the reason I got into the work I did.

      I can supress a sneeze fine, but I also heard it's like having hiccups for the rest of your life... I _hate_ hiccup fits, and can never control them. So I see how annoying & distracting it can be. It can't be funny all the time in the way fakers portray it.

    • @leeartlee915

    This absolutely resonates with me. I have ADD, and while it's not like Tourettes, it is in itself hard to deal with. I can clean all day and still get nothing done .. trying to tackle something sometimes just makes me want to cry because I don't know where to start .. my ADD has led to several arguments with my husband because when I start something and never finish because I got sidetracked and let's not mention "squirrel brain". And then you have the people who joke about ADD and it hurts because they just don't understand what it's like. I may seem fine on the outside, but my brain is like a hoarders house on the inside :(

    I really do.appreciate how you spoke out on this in a more professional manner. But yeah anyone who fakes Tourettes, Autism, OCD, Anxiety, Depression, etc for attention deserve a special place in hell. I'm honestly so tired of people not taking me or others seriously with one of these disorders, then automatically accusing us as faking it for attention cause of people like Tics&Roses. Some people are more open about their struggles than others are, even it's more common to be kept to themselves. When someone is openly talking about their struggle with something like this don't automatically assume they're faking it without any concrete evidence that they are.
