Billie has said that a lot of her tics that aren’t noticeable to others are muscle spasms, so while she’s seemingly sitting still she’s exhausting her body due to the constant repeated tightening and releasing of muscle in her arms and legs. And that people don’t realize how exhausting this all is.

  • @somewhat-blue
    @somewhat-blue 2 года назад +2238

Yeah, the most important factor that makes me certain they’re real is how hard she’s clearly worked to hide them. A common therapy technique for TS is to teach people to camouflage tics with other purposeful actions, or relieving the sensation with a less obvious movement- she’s very clearly practiced at hiding hers, in a way someone who’s deliberately faking pretty much couldn’t be.

Agree, some were just regular facial expressions. Raising an eyebrow isn't necessarily a tic - Some people are just more expressive/reactive with their facial expressions whether that be subconsciously or consciously. While I believe Billie does have tourettes some of these just seemed like regular facial expressions or movement. I think she is naturally expressive - she is very animated when she talks. Maybe that's a result of tourettes - maybe to try and hide when she does tic so that they "blend" in more but she definitely does seem to be quite animated naturally when she is responding or engaging with people. You could see her tic in the first clip very clearly even if it was a subtle kind of tic (slight head/neck jerk). But when she was in the car with James Corden I couldn't notice any tic's there... But granted, I'm not an expert! Maybe she was suppressing? But I couldn't notice any specific tic's there for example.

Her ticks are so .. "obnoxious" like, if someone did this while talking to you and it WASN'T a tic, you'd think you were being disrespected.

i've been fake claimed in the past for ticcing in public, but my difference is I have nervous tics (i know the difference well and don't claim to have Tourette's) and pointing them out tend to make them worse. this happened recently in a grocery store. I was in the store minding my own business getting stuff for dinner and she told me faking Tourette's isn't cool and when I told her I wasn't faking anything she started screaming at me IN PUBLIC Infront of everyone, which obviously made my nervous tics worse. she screamed me that i should be in a mental hospital for faking diseases which i wasn't and people just stood there and stared at me. i told her loud enough to where everyone could hear, i'm not faking tourette's syndrome, in fact I don't even have it, I have nervous ticks, which her pointing them out and screaming at me for them DOES NOT HELP THEM AND MAKES THEM WORSE. at that point i was like ACTUALLY CRYING because I have ptsd and people screaming at me triggers it and i was scared and having flash backs, she claimed to me nervous tics are not real (like wtf) and proceeded to try to grab me, not yelling, SCREAMING to the top of the lungs for a manager, this is FINALLY when someone stepped in and got her the hell away from me because i was starting to have a literal melt down and couldn't friggen breath. the manager ended up kicking her out instead of me then gave me half off of my grocery's because of "the inconvenience". still haven't gone back to that grocery store.

I was so insecure and frankly felt ashamed, like I was bad or something. But for some reason, and I don’t know why, they just gradually tapered off.
They were very strong when I was young. I would exhaust myself in them. I had a twitch and a squeak that I would do. I would twitch my nose and eye, and then do this squeak that I would try to suppress. I would twitch at the organs inside of my rib cage. And I find myself occasionally doing this still, only (thankfully) to a lesser degree.

I don't have tourettes, but I have motor tics.
They are much less severe now than when I was in my teens, though they get quite severe when I'm stressed.
I tried suppressing them when I was in class, but people got freaked out, as I would shake intensely and my neck would tense up to the extreme.
So I stopped trying, just letting it all out. Because punching myself at random and twisting my head to the point the neck cracks was apparently a lot less scary for my class mates.

I have so much respects for Billie. I don’t understand how she could be faking it if most people never even knew she had it because she suppress it so much. If it is based on an impulse jerk reaction, then suppressing it would be extremely hard. I know all about how hard it is to fight against impulses, but I can only imagine what it’s like to have Tourette’s. People already poke fun of those who are nd. To be in the public world makes masking probably extremely hard.

Thank You so much. Funny thing is, the fact that both me and Mrs. Eilish used to suffer from relationship abuse and depression, both me and her love this dark, demonic aesthetics, and now learning that B has tourettes too (my father has tics, I inherited it after him. Since my issues with speech started, the tics seem to fade away but yup they're still there and still annoying, but tbh I totally preffer my tics over the speech difficulties. Oh my don't even let me started on how many times I have cried because I couldn't force my own mouth to say what my damn name is or some other basic shit, immediatelly around the period it started and I was totally confused. Like none of my tics made my life that hard as not being able to say yes or no for no reason at all and yeah noone still knows what's going on with me and i HATE it.....) makes me really nearily believe that Matrix theory is real, as even our faces are similar (that's how I got to know Mrs Eilish even exists LOL My friends were like "without glasses Ure a spitting image of Billie Eilish" XD So I looked her up and here I am XD) Like seriously, is there a glitch in the system? LOL but for serious, thank U for explaining how real this girl really is. I guess some of her haters really had to see it from a legit source like You.

One elderly doctor who works his whole carrear with stuttering ppl told me himself that he "have never seen anything like that", since my "condition" doesn't seem to be tied to any particular situation or strong emotions and seems to fluctuate... through months... weeks... then days.... now.... now it's a "miracle" if this thing won't dissapear for an hour.... I don't have Tourette's but my eyes have what I call "sympathy pain" for example, if your eyes are really ticing my eyes will water and feel bad for you. Why this happens I have no clue. Once someone I knew had really red eyes, and I could not even look at him because my eyes watered so bad. I also have terribly restless legs, and there are times I just have to move them or they just twitch.

Thank you so much for this video! Billie’s tics seem to be very similar to mine in that they are quite subtle. It makes me feel better because sometimes I feel like I’m not valid in my Tourettes despite me being diagnosed at the age of 5. I don’t have any if the “grandiouse” ones as you out it in another video.
While as a child my Tourette’s was pretty bad, once I reached my late teens they became so much more minor to the point I no longer needed medication. Nowadays mine are mainly muscle tensing, such as my neck, stomach, shoulders and thighs. They come and go, but the two big ones I’ve had nonstop since childhood are one that looks like I’m eye rolling (like Billie showed) and nose scrunching.
I learned to “mask” them since, while people tell me nowadays that they don’t even notice my tics, multiple times when I was younger people would make fun of my eye tic especially. A big one I do is in public when I have the neck tensing tic, I act as if I’m simply stretching my neck.
Sorry this was so long! I just feel like people thing Tourettes only presents as big noticeable tics despite it being more of a spectrum as you said :)

I’ve had tics since I was little, but was never diagnosed with Tourette’s. I was told it was because of my Autism. My meds also suppress them. But when I started watching Billie’s tics I started replicating them and not on purpose but then I started gaslighting myself into believing that I was faking it 😭 i has no idea that people with tics tend to replicate other people’s tics until recently. I now do the head jerking things whenever I don’t take my meds (I forget to take them sometimes). I used to snort or gulp but I would suppress it as much as I could because people (usually family members) would tell me it was annoying 🙄 it’s always been facial tics for me, but now it’s mainly the head jerks and scrunching my nose. Sometimes my eyes will twitch really quickly but it usually only happens one or twice within seconds and then it doesn’t happen for a while. I’m glad Billie came out about it to clear the air and spread a little awareness 💕 she is such an inspiration.

When I'm having a really bad tic day, I hit myself in the chest, make hand jesters, or say whole phrases. Like one time I said "please don't hit me!" Very loud to my friend in the middle of a normal conversation in a quite coffee shop. Those are the more noticeable, but most of the time people just assume I had a "shiver" or something.
