  • Welcome. Today we join these first responders navigating through traffic around the city of Toulouse, Southern France. It is rush hour and the roads are packed with drivers heading home after work. Let's see how we manage on these busy highways.
    If you’re fascinated by sirens, flashing lights, and the critical work of first responders, you’re in the right place. Our channel provides a unique perspective-literally-from the driver’s seat of police cars, ambulances, and fire trucks. We collect various videos and add insightful context and commentary.

    There is so much going on in this clip. People not reacting, a driver who made strange choices in using the siren or not and picking clogged lanes to drive. I yelled a couple of time "oh come on, you can't be that stupid!"

      @Troy1399 3 месяца назад +2

      In France emergency services often turn off the siren unless there's traffic directly in front of them they need to move

    The Peugot Driver should have done two things (seperately):
    One: Checking mirrors; without using them, it is a recipe for disaster.
    Two: IF the lane, you are currently on, doesn't have enough space for you to yield to emergency vehicles, you must drive so far right as possible and keep going without obstructing the emergency vehicle behind so long as possible. For example: If the road (condition/sign) allow 100km/h (65-70mp/h), you may drive at this speed to not obstruct the rescue unit. Find the possible opportunity to allow the emergency vehicle to bypass you. The Peugot Driver essentially did all the opposite of what I just said/written.

    All that overtaking from the Alfa and guess what? He ends up in the same traffic jam as everyone else.

  • @karsten27027

    In Denmark the driving of the black Alfa would probably be classified as insane driving. (It is for a judge to decide) That would mean loosing the drivers licence for three years and the vehicle. Do not do that. Recently a Norwegian person lost his just purchased Lamborghini in that way.

      I wish they'd do the same thing over here in the US. I've seen some crazy crap on the roads. In my state they would probably be ticketed for unsafe passing, passing on the right, and speeding. Not enough to lose his license, but enough that his insurance would be extremely expensive and they'd have to go to a remedial driving course.

    honestly, looking at the Dutch, then the Germans and now the French, I have witnessed a decline in the way of driving, but just find a video in Italy in traffic and we are already sliding towards the precipice. In defense for this video is the lack of space on the left for the construction site, it was necessary to entrust the users of the two right lanes with the necessary space for the emergency corridor

    Sirens can do more harm then good, especially with an ambulance. It can freak out the patient for instance. We saw in the video a couple people who got the deer in the headlights look. For medics speed is often secondary to smoothness and stability. If you're trying to switch out meds or do one of the hundreds of other things the last thing you need is to have the ambulance going at a high rate of speed and hitting a pot hole. Same goes for even just standing over the patient. When the driver can pick up time by using the siren and doing gentle maneuvers he is, when his speed is where he's comfortable he doesn't. One of the better drivers.

    Compared to Dutch examples this was a very bad trip. I find it unbelievable that this was in a European country.

    Great video again! I came here not long after watching similar response video from Netherlands from your channel, it's a direct comparision - same traffic and weather conditions. It shows that French drivers are less aware of what's going around them, or the ambulance driver just got unlucky :) I saw lot of French ambulances have poor lighting in the front, that can be also a part in slow reactions.

    France is really bad at yielding to emergency services, for multiple reasons: Bad road design (in most cities, main roads do not have Highway configuration with large emergency lane), poor reaction time (i know by experience that most drivers barely check their mirrors, and if they have the music too loud in their car, it is even worse), poor training (private ambulances can be used as emergency services, and you can know this only from listening to their siren: 3 tones is standard ambulance work, you should facilitate their journey, but they are not allowed to go through red lights, 2 tones is an EMS mission and they should be given priority access to the road and can go through a red light).

    I have 4 colleagues. at the volunteer fire brigade of Bunschoten Spakenburg Eemdijk and Zevenhuizen. And every time, when their BEEP went. I went after them to get their tools together. And also 2 boys, lost. From the street where I lived at the time. A boy of 2.5 and on the other side a boy of almost 13. water and melting ice. I already have swimming diplomas myself. ABC. And rescue swimming, boating license up to 15/20 meters. Sailing lessons given.

    Wow. I travelled often to France but was luckily never in a situation with emergency vehicles. That's honestly the worst I've seen so far in my personal experience driving in Europe. The French should be ashamed for their egoism and lack of awareness. Don't they learn that in driving school?

  • @dylanh3712
    @dylanh3712 3 месяца назад +4

    tbh I think that the ambulance should have used the emergency lane wayyyy more. In the video of the Dutch drivers, you can see that they use the emergency lane and everyone understand what they have to do. I think lane splitting is quite dumb as 2x amount of people have to move instead of just one lane.

    • @PedroConejo1939
      @PedroConejo1939 3 месяца назад +1

      Emergency lanes are often full of debris. There's a video of a UK paramedic (where they use the emergency lane most of the time, called the hard shoulder there) where he picks up damage to his vehicle and has to stop. That is the worst thing that can happen. Much better to make a safety corridor between the two outer lanes like the Germans do. It's even recommended in the UK now.

    Well, they're not Dutch or German, are they? There's always a few who see blue lights and wonder how to use it for their advantage, but so many drivers clearly don't use their mirrors.

    • @davis2671
      @davis2671 3 месяца назад

      Emergency lanes arent common in whole Europe. In major cities there are usually public transport lanes, which can be used by emergency services too. But it's not a thing about this video, which took mostly the part of some city curcuit/highway. Shoulder lane is not for emergency services in most countries, but some of them do have it like that - take a look for emergency response video from Netherlands on this channel.

    1:15 I don't know what you're talking about. They're so slow they couldn't be any slower. Apparently, the French suck at creating an emergency lane. Everybody's busy with getting one more metre ahead instead of clearing the way for the ambulance. In other videos of yours Americans and Asians were this lame.

    Les ambulances privées n’ont pas les mêmes privilèges que les pompiers et la police en France. On doit leur faciliter le passage mais pas obligatoirement les laisser passer à tout prix. Les ambulances privées ne transportent pas de personne en urgence médicale !
