Nice spot spotting the reduced speed driving a10 west! From the same rulebook; a red traffic light can be ignored but only if you reduce speed to 20 km/h, that's why i could easily stop in time for the black VW

Great job from the escort! However, I am of the opinion that whether you are a VIP or not, if you don't have an emergency - you should use the roads like any other citizen without involving emergency lights. Criticism aside - it's interesting to see how an escort operates. Thanks for the insight.

I was in the Philippines with my wife in the hotel room. After hearing sirens for at least 15 minutes, I looked outside to see if there was a fire outside. An ambulance stood in the queue with its sirens on. I asked my wife why the cars didn't move for the Ambulance? He'll have to wait like everyone else 😤. So if you haven't died in the traffic accident in the Philippines, you probably will on the way to the hospital🤣.

What I dont understand, is why people dont just actually stop. Like why do they keep moving when the ambulance is trying to get by, it makes it so hard for the paramedics to anticipate where the drivers are actually going.

The "move over law" should be mandatory for the entire world

I believe it would have been beneficial to maintain the use of the siren throughout most of this particular mission but other times turning the siren off when not needed ist a great way of reducing noise pollution. Also turning off the blue emergency lights completely is unnessecary danger for the police and other drivers.

I once overtook a Coach loaded with Passengers on a Hairpin Bend in the Adelaide Hills (South Australia). A highly illegal manoeuvre, only to discover as I pulled away, that the Passengers onboard the Coach were all serving Police Officers. “Oh Crap” thought I , knowing that a Traffic Citation will doubtless arrive in the Mail in a day or two. Never received one. It’s possible that when they Ran My Registration Plate Number they discovered that I was a Divisional “Chief Staff Officer” Operations with another Government Emergency Service Organization and presumed possibly that I was responding to an Operational Call-out (which I was, but still No Excuse for acting unlawfully). Or more likely they were simply Stunned to witness My Tenacity and Guile.

Let me explain a bit how it works in the Netherlands... Big difference with many non European countries to get your drivers licence in the Netherlands will set you back Euro 3125 average (US$ 3376), when you learning to drive it has to be an qualified instructor with his own break peddle on his side. Very tough exams too, so government knows you know the rules and know how to drive. Over half people fail either their theory exam about the rules of the road (41,6 succes rate%) or practise exams (48% succesful rate men 39% women). The average user thus needs 2,5 times to do exams succesfully. It's way more difficult then in the States, but it shows don't you agree? (P.S. gas prices are really ridiculous $9.30/gallon. No that's no mistake those gas prices and yearly mandatory checks on the state of your car your obligated to do neccesary repairs before being allowed on the roads. (Keeps the idiots of the streets in my opinion.) Also if you drive 30Mph too fast on any road means you lose your drivers licence. If you DUI after a heavy fine you then have to install a breath analyzer in your own car before you can start it! So you can't drive while under the influence costing another 2500 dollars). I guess in a country as small and dense as us (255 times smaller then the USA , 18 million people with excellent public transportation, there is a reason to make driving a car really expensive). Indeed we have high taxes but look at the state of those roads you wont see potholes as soon as there is one people can report it to the government and often it's fixed within a day or 2 (on highways atleast)

I have a dad who is a paramedic and has been in it for about 20 years or so. On one occasion things had to go fast and they had a call about a critical patient on a camping site the "boom" on the road leading into the site was down and it wasn't automated with no operators nearby. I'm still surprised at how effective ambulances are at removing booms. went straight thru it no problem and get there on time.

I saw one of these on road 227 once on the way home from school going in the opposite direction at like 120 KPH. btw the speed limit on that road is 70. And its the only road that connects my town to the rest of Stockholm

Impressive. Intense indeed. Yet much less coordinated and disciplined than the Dutch emergency escorts, I noticed. Policemen are more aggressive too, maybe adapted to the more aggressive and nonchalant driving in Paris too.

Some people would think that this level of urgency occurs only for a Head of State, without knowing that it is simply for a New Citizen.

not only the coordination was commendable, also the drivers on road were attentive and cooperative, why such squad is not implemented in every country, I mean their are a lot of good things to learn from other countries but what exactly these politicians do just corruption, hatred and nuke deals. If the rules are followed diligently and if politicians and law enforcement wants than nothing wrong can happen and all people in country will behave more appropriately and the crime rate will fall, also despite having class 1 medical facilities is useless unless the infrastructure (roads, bridges, tunnels, markings, traffic lights, road layout) is not supportive. I know I went a little more off topic, but this the harsh reality and needs to be changed.
