  • The Suzuki GSX-S125 is cheap, light, and very frugal - perfect for beginners, those urban deliveries or as a commuter bike for those short trips through traffic. So does the little GSX-S125 punch above its weight?
    Thanks to Sydney City Motorcycles Lane Cove for supplying the bike!

    I think the Suzuki's power output is 15hp, not 10 - hence the surprising performance!
    Also worth mentioning that in NSW, the CTP is just $140 for bikes like this under 225cc (...vs. $410 for bikes 225cc-725cc...& even more for bikes above that). The money you save on CTP is probably even greater than the fuel savings compared to a 300/500cc bike, for example.
    Cheers as always for the great videos

      I think it's why we get the 125 instead of the 150 version they sell in asia, that really is the better bike for actually commuting on as it's got that teeny tiny little extra on the top end for when you have to go on the freeway, without any significant downsides, and is probably why yamaha sell the R15 instead of the R125 here. But as you say if you want a second commuter bike, or just a cheap city bike, etc, you're not getting much more power out of a 4t 125!
      I'm weighing one up precisely for the commute. Just not sure about that getting pinned at 85k's on a hill part of a 125 yet lol.

    Great review ! I really enjoyed & learned from it. I'm picking up a GSX-S150 (Bhp 19.17) tomorrow, Nov 9th 18'. Wonder if 150's are sold in Australia ? Since these smaller displacement (125, 150) Japanese bikes are built/ assembled in Indonesia....I couldn't find decent English reviews. But, your one is more than that... I hope you make a comparison review of the Streetfighter/ Naked Sport 125's ie, Honda CB125R, Yamaha Vixion, M-Slaz, Suzuki GSX-S 125 etc. Thanks very much.

    Smaller capacity bikes are seriously under rated in Australia which is unfortunate because they are so cheap and make excellent commuter bikes. I live in hope that more people will embrace them which will introduce more people to the fun that is found riding a motorcycle. I just brought a new R3 for commuting duties to save my good (big) bike for weekend duties because I was clocking up too many k's. The Yamaha R3 is currently $5.5K ride away brand new which is absolutely amazing value for money for a a brand new bike with ABS and all the good kit with a 2 year warranty. Cheap on fuel (3.1kpl) with a 14lt tank means massive range, cheap to insure etc. Faster than 99% of cars from the lights and great for the commute with good wind protection with the fairing in the winter and filtering ability second to none. I have 10km of 100km motorway on my 40km each way commute hence the R3 that does the 100kph easy over a 125cc bike. Also being 6'2" and the fact the R3 is the same size as the R1 makes it a good fit for the taller rider. All in all I love my R3. Keeps a smile on my face during the daily drudgery that is the work commute making light work of ensuring the tin tops are kept honest. Might I suggest you have a look at a British Vloger/reviewer called the Missenden Flyer. He is very much your style of reviewer and could give you some ideas on how to add a bit of pizazz to your reviews. His bike walk around's are particularly good and are done with a simple iPhone but the quality of the image he gets is amazing. Keep up the good work. Love your reviews and you obviously enjoy doing what you do. I hope you go far.

    Had mine 2 weeks now brand new had Honda Grom before and got nicked so got the GSX-S 125 to repalce it ..passed my A1 test last year so think this will be better than grom for pillion but not tried it yet...just think the only problem grom had was 4 speed gear box needed another gear i felt...and the grom does have ABS after 2016 my one had it and was great to stop...But agree Suzuki GSX-s 125 is great bike once i do A licence this year will look at big brother GSX perhaps the 650 as im not that tall and Suzuki are low and can be even lower with kit...so i would say to anyone thinking of 125 machine just go get the GSX !!!!!!!

      choose CB125 if you care more about visual aspect, CB125R look a lot much cooler. but, if you choose something fun to rev high, choose GSX. you can always trust suzuki's engine

    • @jamesoren7238
      @jamesoren7238 6 лет назад +1

      Eh, you could just get the GSX-R125 if you want the race look, or better yet the yamaha R15. Really though in australia, there's not really a reason to get a sporty 125. this bike is pretty good because it's got the standard seating position with the more sporty engine, so it's still a sensible commuter, but as we don't have the 125 restriction like they have in europe, if you want a sporty little learner, I can't think why you woulnd't get one of the 300's instead.

    • @SydneySlowRider
      @SydneySlowRider 6 лет назад

      Don't think they are bringing the CB125R to Australia.
      HOWEVER: I just test rode the new CB300R "neo sports cafe" thing at Bikebiz Parra. Even though I'm rolling onto my full license (thinking I'd upgrade from the CB300F...), the new CB300R was so freakin' light and fun for city commuting that I bought it. (At 143kg wet, it's only slightly heavier than this Suzuki S125 - but it has 31hp!) Rides like a grown-up Grom. SO much fun and style for a budget city bike.
      Recommend you try the CB300R when you've got time, as there are very few reviews up so far!

    • @KriZe4R
      @KriZe4R 5 лет назад +1

      For Europe, the model also has 125. It's based on euro4 regulation to lower the emission costs. Not sure how it is for other regions. Also, in my country, you can drive 125cc with the 15HP limit if you hold Car license for at least 3 years. 150 is not part of that deal so it's kinda big market share for the manufacturers.

    Mate, you don’t get any KTMs in Australia ? At 6’6” you might want to try a Duke 125, I’m 6’4” and the level of comfort, pegs position, suspension, abs, an amazing dash is at another level, there’s nothing on the market for tall beginner riders that beats the duke

    • @JDMz

      The ktm duke isn't that great. In terms of reliability. Has very bad electrics and the tft screen still suffers from water ingres on the 2022 model. They still haven't fixed that issue.
