    Now you can take those extra md421s and mic the resonant side of your toms. Mix that with the top head (with polarity inverted, of course) and you get a lot of control over resonance vs. attack of the drum.

    really refreshing to hear great mics demo'd by a GREAT drummer. It's rare to hear both on RUclips.

    As a New Hampshire resident, I'm very proud to have Earthworks as a neighbor. Very good video Sir, and I love the sound of your kit.

    Thanks for mentioning the other mics you will continue to use especially since you recently did a mic video. Glad to see that even though earthworks is your favorite you're not selling us koolaid as if they are the end all be all. Fun to see you continue to evolve.

    Great sounding gear, INTENTIONALLY MADE IRREPARABLE. When my discontinued SV33 (2000€ range) mic went dead, they said to toss it as it's "not likely we'd be able to repair it if it’s related to the electronics as our mics are hardened on the inside". Something I'd expect from Wish or AliExpress.

    Neat video! But you could record that kit with a tin can on a string and it would still sound beautiful...

    Hey man, thoughts on the 4000 series hardware? Is the sizable price jump to the 600 series worth it? Your cymbals seem pretty stable with the 4000s I'm seeing here. Hard to find reviews on anything sonor makes.

    Adam I noticed you are using different hi hats here than your usual Extra dry medium hats. Are they the Jazz hi hats in 14” or 15” maybe . Thanks and great vid as always✌️😎

      Chris Hunter If there weren’t a dozen videos on that topic already, I most certainly would. 😉 Match the numbers on each lug and you’re good to go!

      I get it. I was just thinking that it'd be cool to see how you use it and hear and see any additional tips or tricks that you use with it. Thanks, man!

  • @nathanblackman1063

    I noticed that the beater on your kick drum pedala hits above center. I know that it can allow you to be faster but, does it change the sound significantly from hitting center? Can you do a video on that maybe?

    • @AdamTuminaro
      @AdamTuminaro  6 лет назад +2

      Nathan Blackman IMHO, beater placement doesn’t make enough of a difference to justify thinking about it. As long as the pedal feels good, and you aren’t smacking the rim, you should be just fine.
      Just like a snare or tom, you don’t have to hit the exact center to get a good sound. Hope that helps!

    Hi Adam, can you use the Earthworks DM20 on toms/snare with the Focusrite Scarlett/Clarett without making it clipping? I'm about to buy Earthworks DK7 (their 7-mic drum System) and my only concern is I use a Focusrite 8PreX and I'm afraid the microphone's output might be too hot for this pres (since I don't have any pad).

    • @pseudonomous
      @pseudonomous 5 лет назад

      You can buy a an inline pad from Earthworks for about $100 (US) or an inline pad from whirlwind for about $20 (US). If you can use a soldering iron and don't mind sacrificing a general purpose XLR cable, you can probably make one even cheaper by soldering the resisters into the cable yourself

    that is the oddest drum setup I've seen so far.
    I really don't get the ergonomics, everything seems so awkwardly placed to me... even the right side crash being like so far away when your splash and ride are so close.
