Dawned on me today one of the reasons so many chain stores are closing isn't just inflation, it's Amazon...some of the same people who say 'shop local' do much or most of their shopping online. Amazon has gotten huge. They are monopolizing a lot of the industry.

Nurse here… in the hospital we were allowed 15 minutes to be in patients room. The hospital I worked in did a National survey to prove to the National commission in Washington DC to rewrite this since none of them were in the medical profession and had never actually worked with sick patients. I had very sick patients and extensive surgeries. Sometimes an hour wasn’t enough to get everything attended to.
I encourage everyone to write down your questions, no question is stupid. Write down all medication and supplements so you don’t forget to recall any of them. Avoid chitchat, utilize every minute to your health concern.

Oh my, I just went to this today. I had appointment today at a dermatologist. That took me 6 months to get in and see her. My hair's been falling out. I've got some things that I think are lupus. And she blew me off today. I gave her my list. I made. She looked at and said half of this. I wouldn't even worry about sent me to a rheumatologist and a urinage Doctor and there are to 6 months out. If it is something my bladder you know I could have something seriously wrong with me. And I don't run to the Doctor all the time. I wait till things just don't go away. She's just totally blew me off and I gave her a list to help. She said nothing on here. Contains to anything to worry about, but they took my co. Pay and she'll take my insurance money. The word Concierge is a French word meaning caregiver/caretaker…here in Canada 🇨🇦 it’s the same situation…we have doctors in private practice…and the cost is enormous…our healthcare system is publicly funded by taxpayers but it is long wait times for appointments and tests…where the doctors are concerned…I am very blessed to have a wonderful family doctor…and I do as much as possible to care for myself…good healthy diet, supplements…I see my doctor once a year…I had a medical situation 24 years ago and since then I have played an active role in my choice of a healthy lifestyle…some people here in Canada have lost their doctors., and some are on a list for over two years…the immigrants here seem to get doctors before the local population…and there are foreign doctors that are not educated as our Canadian doctors…I haven’t noticed any difference in care for seniors…that seems to be the same…the province I live in has the highest number of older people…I am blessed to have Jesus as my physician/ healer…♥️ 🙏

It's a significant business issue. My son-in-law is the medical director of his clinic for a large medical group. He says docs are quitting right and left because they are being asked to do far more for far less. What they do is determined by some assistant in an office somewhere that aren't health care professionals. The amount of note taking they want, etc., demands huge amounts of time, More, they give them 7 mins/patient regardless of the need. My SIL simply says "too bad" and takes the time he needs because he loves his patients. Around here, more and more, the docs are from other countries.

I read an article that said that doctors are allowed 6 min with each patient. I've suddenly noticed this with all my doctors. My GP, ENT, Endocrinologist & GYNO. This has happened since covid. I hate it. I think it's so rude. I agree with you about having a list of what you want to talk about since they don't ask if you have any questions anymore. Also, some physicians, PA's & nurses that didnt take the shot lost their jobs; hence a shortage. I do notice that I can register for the online portal & if I have any questions, I can message my doctor & their nurse gets back with me pretty quickly. Our medical system has changed indeed.

Physician practices no longer belong to the physicians. They have quotas to meet and that's why they are rushed. One of my doctors explained this on RUclips and he also explained how AI will affect our care and it's scary.. Covid and Obamacare are also reasons. Healthcare in this country has deteriorated to the point it is not recognizable and we do not have the best healthcare in the world, not even close. Plus, health insurance companies look for every reason to deny claims. Something will have to be done as I think it will eventually collapse.

But as soon as they all do their thing they leave & you lay there waiting forever for someone to come back to see you. After being checked over & being dismissed takes hours also! I will say ER has been good but it takes hours & hours to get end results. Even if you have to be admitted it takes a long time & often it’s just to get a hospital room. But I will say I did get excellent nurses & help! I never felt because of my age (70s) that I didn’t matter.

Facility fee is in Colorado big time, is not covered by insurance. Every - time I see a specialist for 15minutes a $275 facility fee for a nearby hospital (that i am not physically at for the appt) is charged. Colorado voted that this is OK for the facility charges. $600 out of pocket with insurance to see a specialist. Conversely, supports the up and coming doctors to specialize for the extra money incentive.

Just another note to say this was a good topic, Sandy. I had never heard of Concierge groups and since I don’t belong to AARP, I had not read the article. So many people from California., Oregon and Washington State have moved into my town because of COVID not only driving the cost of homes through the roof but our property taxes. I assume this is overwhelming the doctors here, too. I can just imagine how many more people are going to leave California after these fires because people cannot get insurance on their houses. Meanwhile, the poor people in W. No. Carolina are living in tents in the snow after losing their homes, businesses and relatives to floods. I feel very blessed even though I spent two nights this week shoveling 8” of snow from my driveway. I don’t mind because it is peaceful at night but I bet my neighbors were awake from the noise because I didn’t realize it was 10:45 p.m. when I came inside. 😂 Should a 77-yr. old woman be shoveling snow? Probably not but since I broke my hip 13 months ago, I have not missed one day of exercise plus I lift 7# dumbbells every other day for 30 min. As I told my son, the broken hip was probably the best thing to happen to me because I never exercised except to do yard work and housework.

Recently I saw a RUclips video in which Clark Howard talked about his experience with Amazon Medical. He said that he travels a lot , and has used it because it's very affordable and allows him to do video chats when he has become ill. The video is called" Clark's take on Amazon Medical". Clark has many videos in which he tries to inform people about how to live affordably in our changing world.
As a retired nurse, I can only tell you what I hear from others , but Dr's have to comply with so many regulations if they are working in a medical building owned and managed by a monopoly of hospitals. In the tri cities (East Tn), Ballad Health, a 20- hospital system of East TN and Virginia, benefits from the largest state sanctioned hospital monopoly in the U.S. ( This info came from the internet)
Healthcare has definitely been affected in our area of Tn. Many physicians decided to quit when Ballad health took over, so there are longer waits .

My concern is not just the lack of physicians, but the attitudes of physicians toward we senior citizens. In many ways, it appears the general attitude is that since we have lived a long life, keeping us alive and well is no longer a priority. And if we need emergency or hospital care, we can be sitting there for hours before being seen.
We are not seen as a priority, as young people are. We are condescended to, lied to, or ignored altogether.
One time I was dealing with a sudden strangulated hernia, in extreme pain, and had to wait over 2 hours in an emergency room to be seen. I could have died. The ugly reality seems to be that we are not valued as human beings past a certain age. We are considered disposable. I would rather die than be placed in a nursing home.
I plan on aging in place at home. The only person that has your best health interests at heart is yourself. You have to be your own advocate. Get a second opinion. Trust your instincts.

I know more than I want to about this. Here in N.Y. , not N.Y.C. You can wait days in the ER due to doctor shortage. No Primary appt available so ppl have to go to ER.. It took me almost a year to find a doc. My office just shut down, no reason given. Your only allowed 1 problem to tell your primay and make it snappy. Ccncierge here is insane. It's $7,500 a year membership. They dontt accept insuance. U pay all out of pocket and be sure to tip your doctor. I was going to talk about this on my channel. Was trying to find the pamphlet I got in mail to show about the tip part. These doctors are just mad at the world. What happened to do no harm. Everyone has to try and stay healthy as gosh forbid if you have a true emergency.

It’s terrible. We have a second home in Italy and it’s even worse. Our friends and relatives have to pay privately
to see a Dr. because they are so backed up with socialized medicine waiting lists. You can literally die waiting.

I was told by my doctor the other day that there is a shortage of doctors. One doctor at our clinic there had over 3 thousand patients. It took my husband and I months to get in. That doctor for paying them extra a year is true, we refused. It's probably all about money. God Bless

I know, I hate saying concierge. When we were on vacation and wanted to take an excursion tour, we were told to see the hotel's concierge. At the time I was afraid to attempt to say it, but when the hotel clerk said it, I asked her to say it again slowly, and it sounded like: KAHN SEE ERJZ. Anyhow - my husband's primary care doctor joined two other doctors in a concierge practice. My primary care doctor retired (I had her a long time). Hubby likes his new doctor real well. It took me a long time to get to see my new doctor, so I went to a Holistic Health Clinic, since I'm not on any meds., I just get my blood work checked. So that's working well.

The paper work is overwhelming because the doctors need to cover themselves today because we live in such a 'sue happy' environment. That's a shame. The same applies to teachers. Very few people want to become teachers because of the crazy curriculum, paper work and the lack of discipline in the schools/classrooms. I know this first hand. I am a retired teacher.

My insurance company, Mailhandler’s (they cover V.A. employees and spouses), only allows me to fill prescriptions at CVS Pharmacies. The CVS I use is 1.25 miles from my house but the store is always empty and their hours are hit and miss because they cannot staff the rest of the store. No one wants to work since all the government free checks sent out during and after COVID. I half expect my CVS to close and the other CVS in town is 3 miles away which usually means 10 minutes waiting for a train to pass through town.

I get scared thinking if I need to see my doctor. Either they dont know how to treat my problem,or they dont want to treat me because Im over 60. Ive wasted time and money going to specialist and never getting any help. Im afraid my health problem is getting worse because its not bad enough for them to ever care. Now if youve waited too long to see a doctor.... by then they seem to know what the problem is... by then its too late! I have the WORST experiences with doctors. Either they try to kill me with medication that makes me sick and makes things worse or they dont take me seriously. Seems I will live and grow old sickly until I die. I guess thats the way it goes anyway.😂😂😂 Health care scares me because Ive lost hope in doctors. I pray all the time for my HEAVENLY Father to help me help myself get better in my health. He's always there for me!😊

One reason physicians are moving away from private practice and into hospital-owned clinics, etc., is the high cost of malpractice insurance.
