    Find it kinda weird that Okina does primarily slash, which really only have a pointy end, while Fang does puncture, which has more of an edge

      It's even better when you compare Fang and Fang Prime.
      Fang: Basically just some horns without much, if any edge, but quite pointy. Has slash damage.
      Fang Prime: Clearly a cutting oriented blade shape. No slash damage. Higher puncture damage than the pointer Fang.
      ...It has been like this for 10+ years. Fang isn't even the only example; I don't want to think about what the others were though.

      fang's entire gimmick in lore is the way it punctures armour - it vibrates incredibly fast to basically phase through stuff, giving it the puncture damage

    Remember there's also "Amar's Contempt", a duel dagger exclusive mod that gives +90% melee damage and +30% slash
    Plus the set bonus that teleports you to a target within 10m (then 20m and 30m) when you heavy attack

    I like the look, though I think it's kinda weird that these are slash based. Like, don't get me wrong, I like a good, strong slash weapon as much as the next guy, but if ever there has been a melee weapon in Warframe that screamed "I'm a thrusting weapon that deals all puncture" then it would have been the Okina.

      Yeah, same thing with the Fang and Ceramic Dagger.
      Like holy hell trying to puncture something with them? Looks like it's gonna be about as fun as trying to hack a stone to pieces with a butter knife. It simply doesn't work at all ahah)
      And then there's the Arca Titron. A hammer, that somehow has a non-negligable amount of slash. Like, what???? How does that make sense... And the Ohma too.
      Also a funny thing is the Silva and Aegis having no IPS at all. And that's when there was a melee rework, that mostly got rid of it. It is a funky stat distribution, sure, though I still can't shake the feeling that it should have at least some impact and slash maybe?
      DE has some funny stats here and there, I'll be honest. Would've been nice seeing it make sense (mainly because fang would get buffed lololol), but maybe it's fine having some goofy stats like that

    *PSA* Read the Description for *Weeping Wounds* Before Judging the Man's Build.
    In Addition To That.... Did you know that 1 Slash Proc + 1 Viral Proc is Effectively The Same as 2 Slash Procs ? So Even If Viral Never Procs The Build is still better than cashing in on Viral....👀
    If all Else Fails.... Even with Bad Weighting the Slash Procs from the Stance is Good Enough for Base Steel Path. So there's no Need to Get Sweaty Anyway. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

      @chaosgyro fair, but I guess the fang do have the benefit of being quite a bit easier to get in general. De buffing almost all melee does mean that the fang aren't useless. But the comparisons are heavily weighted to the okina.

    What funny is that the Okina wasn't design to cut with it, more of a defense/disarming weapon(I might be wrong tho) yet it procs slash as hell.

    when you need to focus a dude like an unstunnable acolyte, lich, necramech or an eximus use the standing block combo. it's like one move that repeats over and over as a multi-hitter quite quickly. Knocks normal guys to the floor and good for funny juggles on enemies who are pulled together or just can't be sent away. it puts the spinning needle in spinning needle. on the wiki it actually has the highest average damage multi also.

    Something you didn't comment on when comparing the status weighting, you still had the same chance per hit to proc slash with maxed mods, if you didn't have weeping wounds that would mean that using the maxed variants would be superior due to the extra base damage. Though due to weeping wounds, you do absolutely want to maintain that higher slash weighting.

    Gunblade (I like the stropha).
    Melee influence.
    Tennokai (optional but really nice).

    Btw, just like scythes, dual daggers' stances have forced Slash procs on heavy attacks.
    I built the original Okina with Corrupt Charge and its also a great setup if you don't wanna worry about mantaining combo

      Also the stance has forced procs , assuming one uses the only stance you should use and not gnashing payara , also has much better follow through than scythes

      @@chaosgyro the neutral and the block combo are the exact same combo on gnashing lmao, so only one not including heavy attack
      Spinning needle has one more combo and average higher multipliers and actually has forced slash on two combos and the forward momentum is a boon on the stance

    I'm kinda upset that the Okina Prime has such high slash over the nornal Okina. Like I was hoping for something with huge puncture damage and huge crit to just deal big upfront damage and having a prime weapon that would step out of the slash meta for a change. But I guess DE isn't that confident in their players to try something other than slash builds for their melee weapons. We don't really have any good puncture melees that aren't better for slash procs anyway, which is a real shame.

    What if you did a Raw Damage build, Working with the Puncture, You go Corrosive and Cold, You probably still get a good number of slash procs too because of the Raw Slash, but with Weeping wounds and the Ramp up you should be procing 2-3 Statuses at a time with 3 Dual Stat Mods. Could just be a fun alternative, I don't have them yet, so I will have to wait to try it myself.

    About the unranked viral: From the status indicator, the chance to proc viral did go up, but the chance to proc slash stayed the same. So wouldn't this just mean you get more viral procs but just as many slash procs still? I can imagine this happening on weapons with lots of status chance because the ranked 60/60 mods lead to so much more status overall that nothing changes effectively for the slash procs.
    If I misunderstood something though please correct me!

      *Weeping Wounds* gives you 400% Status Chance... The Viral Mods are just there to Ensure Viral Procs atleast Once... They're Not There for The Status Chance. 👀

      Sigh.... Your First Mistake was Accepting what you see in the Arsenal at Face Value....
      Multiple Times people have made the *"If you Did 100 Hits"* argument but those Same people also Know that if you have a 50% Chance to Get Smeeta Kavat from a Random Incubation doesn't mean you will get a Smeeta Kavat In exactly 2 Incubations.
      The popularity of Selling imprints is Proof Enough that's Definitely not how RNG Works.
      The Fact is if Did 100 Hits then it's Not Unreasonable To Assume that all 100 of those Hits are going to Proc which ever Status Effect is Higher. And if that Happens To Be Viral then You just Wasted 90 Hits because Viral is Capped at 10 Stacks....
      There's literally no Benefit to Having Viral Proc more Often. 😱

      @@lookalike4805 Holy shit you are making so many false assumptions and conclusions here it's probably not even worth trying to explain it to you, but I'll do the stupid thing and try anyways.

      2. You are forgetting that status chance can go above 100%, and that not every hit inflicts a status. If, hypothetically, you have a 20% chance to proc slash and 70% chance to proc viral, within 100 hits, you will (obviously on average) have 20 slash procs and 70 viral procs. Quite a few of these viral procs are pointless, but if you take away the viral so you have 20% slash chance and 20% viral chance, then you get 20 viral procs...and still 20 slash procs...any "overkill" viral procs do not matter in the slightest, you still have the same slash procs
      3. You will kill most enemies before you max out the 10 viral procs, so only rarely will any of them be wasted. If you play it correctly you will wait until 1-2 slashes are applied and leave for the next enemy, otherwise you are just wasting time.
      4. You are ALSO not taking the simply increased damage into account, which, if you are building for slash, is not a big part, but also not pointless.
      You are wrongly interpreting my point and turning it around. The idea is that downranking the mods purposely is pointless, as it doesn't increase your slash procs in any way, and will rather have the benefits of maximum viral procs (as you won't max them our on an enemy anyways) and higher raw damage output.

      @@thedude2241 you're right, it was explained wrong in the video. ranking the viral mods would have been slightly better for the small extra damage and quicker viral application, while not giving up any slash procs or strength.
      but that doesn't really matter when weeping wounds is being used to create big slash procs over direct damage.

    i got a riven for the base okina a long time ago to make a charge spam build since their heavy is double forced slashed, because of tennokai i think i need to change the riven now that i think about it.

    Idk if i am wrong.
    With maxxed out viral mods, RUclipsr has a 14.4 chance of causing slash proc.
    With minimum viral mods, youtuber still has a 14.4 chance of causing slash procs.
    The only difference is that with the maxed viral mods, he will get more viral procs. But in 100 hits, 14.4 will always be slash. So the question is if you want 7 or 28 of the hundred to deal viral...
    Please explain if wrong.

      the reason for this is because the mods add more damage which balances out the additional status chance, resulting in net zero movement
      however, RUclipsr Man is running weeping wounds, which would be less effective in increasing slash procs if there was more viral damage on the weapon

    this wont work for every frame but something you can do with Inaros is put Melee Exposure on and your 2 will armor strip everything and gather it up for you to heavy attack

      With Elemental Sandstorm you can skip the heavy attack and just let the viral and slash do their work.

      @chaosgyro for sure. I like to group mine up on top of nearby eximus so that when it ends, I pop a heavy attack, and usually, that's the end of the eximus. Also, I use a Cyath machete so I can use Cyclone Kraken stance with the heavy spin attack, just to add a little more spin to the end.

    03:45 if you used a Primed Smite Mod then you could have Had a *2 Million* Bleed Damage PER TICK...
    You can kill sun with that Much Damage with enough left over to Kill an Acolyte afterwards 😳

    The Nepheri are still better, but you have to deal with that clunky ranked attack they have with neutral attacks
    According to the wiki you get 5% movement speed when holding these, apparently.

    Still confused on using unranked 60/60 mods- There is the same chance at procing slash per hit for both it seems- what is the downside?

      Unless your status chance is over 100% you can only proc one status at a time. So if viral is more likely to proc, you get viral INSTEAD of slash more often

    Hold up, if you have the unranked mods you get 14,4% chance for slash and 7,2% for viral. But if you put the max rank mods all the other chances will stay the same and viral will go up. Since the chances are not proportional to each other but absolute, doesn't that just mean putting max ranked mods is always better because you just proc more viral without sacrificing anything? I've been running unranked mods as well and just saw this

    3:05 ok someone needs to explain this to me.
    with unranked viral mods, the chance to proc slash is 14.4%, and the chance to proc viral is 7.2%
    with ranked viral mods, your slash proc chance is still 14.4%, but your chance to proc viral is now 28.8%
    The way I understand it, the only thing not using maxed mods is doing in this situation is just giving you more hits that won't proc anything at all, without even making your chance to proc slash better.
    Am I missing something?

      viral cap out at 10x which you will reach nearly at the same speed in both examples but the ones with the unranked mods will keep procing slash and puncture more often while still hitting the viral cap.

      You are missing weeping wounds, which brings the status chance, slightly, over 100%. At that point every hit procs status and you want that to be mostly slash, not viral

Weaaping hunds increases every individual probability separately as well(if you wanna modeled it like that), as long as at the end of the math the total expected slash procs stays the same the extra vural statues chances of the mods are better

      They get Better at the Cost of Pricing Slash.
      If you Want to Get Super Optimal you Can Give up the Viral Mods All Together and Just a Primer... Thus Ensuring you always get the Right Ratio of Viral and Slash.

    why did you put unranked viral mods? the weapon just had more viral procs and the same chance to get a slash proc per hit, but more viral as well. with unranked viral mods you had a 14.4 % chance to proc slash PER HIT and 7.2% chance for viral (with a total of 239.2 damage) and with the fully ranked viral mods you had 14.4% chance to proc slash PER HIT and also had a 28.8% chance to proc viral with almost double the damage which will result in more viral procs as well as stronger slash procs

    At 3:13 you are misunderstanding probability.
    How you should read the stats is like :
    Out of 100 hits: 8.4 will proc puncture, 1.2 will proc Impact, 14.4 will proc slash and 28.8 will proc viral.
    And at 3:08:
    8.4 for puncture, 1.2 for impact, 14.4 slash and 7.2 Viral.
    Which means if we compare them: by using full rank mods, we are converting hits that would *not* have proc at all into viral, while leaving the same amounts of slash procs.
    Using unrank mods for this is suboptimal because the mods also increase the status chance. So yes, the balance not longer favors slash but the increase status chance means you keep the same amount of slash procs while having more viral procs and stronger damage.
    Edit: Ok you say. It is because of the weaping wounds effect where this distribution matters. Not here. Because I like math I want to make a spread sheet simulating it. I will keep the comment updated with results for all of us that are confused with WF xd

      That's just not how RNG Works...
      Also anything you want to kill will be Dead long before you land 100 Hits meaning the instances where you Proc Viral but not Slash are just Wasted on those Enemies. 👀
