Hi Kurt, I live in a very old town in Nottinghamshire. My house is in a Roman hot spot, I've found all sort of items in the area going back to the Roman occupation of Britain. When the summer begins, I'll be searching my own property at depth while re-doing the back garden. Would love to find any of the items on your finds board, but am very interested to see if any Roman items surface. I'm a huge fan of your channel and have seen all your video's. Would love to see you in a future video finding your first Roman coin, I do hope you get the opportunity. Looking forward to your next video.

Great fun to see it all again, Kurt. I remember being really impressed with the special intros and outros you did for the UK stuff, and they made me think of the 3 times I was lucky enough to detect "across the pond" - 2 paid tours with Jimmy Sierra who is or was based on the west coast, and I also have friends that live in Shrewsbury ( which is in Shropshire County, where you detected). They let me hit their yard, and were also kind enough to hook me up with the local club. Sounds like the Portable Antiquities Act has only gotten more strict over the years. I'm surprised they didn't give you clear documentation of anything of yours that they kept. I'm totally foggy now on the rules about what they keep (usually stuff that has been declared "treasure"), what compensation is sometimes required, and also the fact that specific museums can make offers to actually purchase certain finds. On one of my Sierra tours, a guy found an amazing groat that was in better shape than anything even the British Museum had, and they made him an offer he couldn't refuse - around $4K, as I recall. I know most hope the finder will consider donating, as they often don't really have the funds to purchase certain finds. I sure hope to get over there again before "all is said and done", so to speak.
Sorry to hear about the injury....heal up quick!! Now that you'll have the power of ambidextrous detecting, you'll crush Brad EVERY time. 🤣🤣

My advice, for what it's worth..... if a person is right handed, learn to swing with your left hand and dig with your right. You can always switch during a hunt to combat fatigue in your arm and shoulder.

Hard to believe it's been 5 years now. Time flies. Nice to see all the finds again and that you got 2 of the hammered coins back. Incredible. Question: Did you find any American coins there? I watched all the videos back then but can't remember if you found any American. This also goes to show us how long we have been subscribed to your channel. For me, longer than 5 years. I didn't realize it especially when I enjoy and have fun watching all this time. Thanks Kurt for all the interesting and great content!

Kurt, I just looked up information on the Shropshire Short Cross Hoard, and it talks about the international metal detectorists who found the hoard, and low and behold there’s Kurt Franz’s of The Hoover Boys name. Followed by a photo of the coins that were found. It doesn’t seem like it’s been 5 years since you and Brad were hunting the English countryside for anything and everything you could find. Back when BRad could make more time for swinging the coil.
Hope your wrist gets better soon. I always look forward to seeing your videos. God bless.

Glad you got your finds back. Five years is about right for PAS. I had over 50 items with them for Two and a half years and eventually returned unexamined or recorded because of a theft in which I lost a 3000 year old Bronze Age gold lock ring. The British museum which runs the scheme is not fit for purpose as other recent revelations of thefts are beginning to reveal. Think yourself lucky! Andy

So is the a work injury or did you sprain it beating one of your kids? (My mother did that when she spanked my sister for saying, "Might as talk to a damn wall as talk to you!") For the record, I'm joking about it being the cause of your sprain, in case you didn't get that. But my mom, back in the 60s, really did sprain her wrist spanking my sister. :)

Hey Kurt! The finds are awesome from England! I am heading that way this summer. I found a few groups on Facebook that go out and hunt each week and plan on hooking up with them while I’m there. Do you have anyone you think I should get a hold of when I am there to meet up with? I will be staying in London but will be visiting Spain and Scotland as well. Did you just talk to farmers there and ask to hunt on their fields or did you have guides with you?

You should do a colab with the Scottish detectors. He has a few permissions on what he calls Roman fields. I know he watches your channel because he's mentioned the hoover boys before.😁
