Ironically Lalo Schifrin wasn't available for this third instalment of the Eastwood series having created the score for Dirty Harry and Magnum Force so his friend Jerry Fielding stepped in adding, arguably, even more jazz and groove - consider the rooftop chase sequence... although still highly influenced by the earlier movies and Schifrin's score for Steve McQueen's Bullitt in 1968 (also set in San Francisco).
@@vikings844 As far as I have read / watched he was contracted to another movie at the time so asked his friend Jerry Fielding to step in. If you look at his catalogue, he was hugely popular in the 60s though 80s movies (Bullitt, Cool Hand Luke) and TV - shows like Mission Impossible, Mannix etc. Fielding shared the jazz influences that Schifrin and Clint Eastwood admired although maybe more mainstream, not quite as experimental in creating his own percussion and backdrop sounds. Listen to the 'Rooftop' sequence in this film and you can hear that - I don't think Schifrin would have been so obvious West Coast, horns etc... although it's terrific music, builds with tension and well played - that sax solo... is it Coltrane? :) ruclips.net/video/b5ZrifpEjiA/видео.html&ab Fielding was no slouch, he wrote the theme for The Wild Bunch and music on the original Star Trek TV series amongst others.
I just put in different music for the titles. I can't believe that was 10 years ago. It didn't render very smoothly, but I was just playing around with editing then.
