It's always gratifying to watch a skilled craftsman completing a high quality job. Especially when it's clear they are very knowledgeable about what they are doing. If you moved to England you would have a lot of Volvo C70 owners beating your door down to sort their seats out!

They look brand new. Well done. If I may suggest, please invest in a good quality lav mic so that we can hear you speak clearly. Also please use manual focus on your camera settings because the autofocus keeps moving to your hands when you are cleaning or spray painting. It’s very distracting. And finally the music in between takes is much louder than your voice. I’d rather hear you work than the music.
Thank you and once again great job with the channel. I’m subscribing.

Excellent work! You said that you were going to talk about treating the hard leather on the back seats but didn’t. What did you do to soften them?

    • @OCDDetailing2021

Thank you. For hard leather, after restoration ( minimum 24 hours), I apply conditioner; if the leather is quite hard , I keep the seats for a couple extra days and apply conditioner a couple of times. Usually, it helps a lot to feed the leather and bring back the softness.

Thanks for the response, @@OCDDetailing2021. I have the same seats in off-black/charcoal. They are in excellent surface condition though despite regularly conditioning over the years, being in the sun for hours on end takes its toll and the fronts are hard (but not cracked) and don’t seem to absorb conditioner anymore. As I understand it from your process, I should chemically strip off the top coat, and then apply conditioner until resoftened and then re-seal…? Thanks again!

    Hello.
I have a question regarding the cost. What do you charge for this service? I was wondering about the price for two front seats and back seats as you did in this episode...
Thanks for your videos. Very useful and inspiring.
    Regards
    From Sweden.

    I have several questions
Is it possible to use leatherique before a restoration in order to restore softness and moisture ?
How many hours does it take you to restore a single seat not including dry time.
Can you do a video with a Volvo seat and go from beige to atacama?

    • @OCDDetailing2021

I feed the leather after restoration, during restoration you would use some heat and solvent cleaners etc, so if you feed the leather before during restoration you would remove a lot of moisture and oils, Geist paints will let the conditioners to be absorbed by the leather, I do that almost after every restoration and there is nice difference in the softness of the restored lather , after applying the conditioner ( I wait at least 24 hours after the top coat before I apply conditioner) It usually takes me 2-4 of working hours to complete one seat. I probably wont get chance to change color on volvo seats , as most of videos I make while doing services for customers, but if you want to see how to change color , check out my channel, I have 2 videos about it. I hope this helps and thanks for the comment .

Is this similar to the factory leather finish, or do you have to treat it more like a vinyl seat, or PU coated leather afterwards?

    • @OCDDetailing2021
      @OCDDetailing2021  Год назад +1

Geist paints will allow you to feed the leather afterwards, so if you restore real leather you can apply conditioners after same as on factory finished real leather.
