I love how each of the GMs have focussed on different aspects of the world. Matt's run was all about introduction to this scary world, Spenser focussed on the toll this world takes on those who are aware of what happens behind the curtain, and now we have Aabria showing the desperation of the disenfranchised. I don't know. In Brennan's case we knew something intense was a about to occur. For Aabria it was something the cast seemed to brush aside. Although, had Travis been there he probably would have been making his warning light hand signals.
Can I just say, I love how they've managed to work in a character who uses a wheelchair into a genre of game that typically is packed full of action which would be very difficult for a character in a wheelchair.

Okay, Chapter 1 was a great introduction to a new game system and a mysterious world. Chapter 3 is... roleplay, it's trauma, it's about those who were affected by the mysterious forces and try to either return to normal or face it and take control. Neither is better than the other, they are just different.

At 1:49:25 when Liam just rapidly states "I finish my wine really quick." it reminded me of that scene from Ratatouille where Anton Ego almost spits out his wine but then he realizes that it is an expensive vintage so he swallows it instead. Like Cosmo was not wanting to waste a good wine in a similar fashion.
Sam Riegel, man. The guy spends so much time doing ridiculous ad reads and playing goofy troll characters and doing everything he can to screw with everyone else at the table, that he makes it easy to forget what an incredible actor he is. And then episodes like this happen and it hits you like a truck.
Awe, that is one of the BEST moments of CR. I STILL can't watch those scenes without getting emotional. That came from the soul, Sam has something special going on in that head.
I love all the characters so much. Sam pulled off "I'm the parent" again. I just love old characters and Liam executes Cosmo perfectly. Ashly is great. I believe that Elsie is dying. I haven't seen much of Gina but she has an amazing character and is plaing her amazingly. And Nishir is the coolest. The consept is so intresting I might just steal it. Thank you, Aabria.
Cosmo: "Tide and Bone, Keepers of the Light." Ancient Water (god?): "You were known to me in my time. Yes." So Candela is Old. Really Old. Which is interesting and a bit disturbing, organizations that old usually have a lot of baggage and agendas, and in season 2 we got a look at a place that didn't make them out too well. Sounding more and more like an eternal SCP Foundation of sorts.
I was just reading the rulebook this morning. Candela dates back to Oldfaire and maybe even before, but it had a different purpose. It keeps the name but its purpose evolved after the fall of the empire to the organitation that is now. It's really interesing, it's not just "this is an ancient organization and this is what it does" but has a bit of history and events that shaped and changed how things are run and how it works. Given the limited amount of pages they had, so far I'm very happy and even mildly impressed by the depth they are being able to convey in the lore of the book
Great roleplay and storytelling from the entire table. All the Circles so far have brought a different angle, but this one has to be my favorite. The way Aabriya managed to present the party with a sympathetic source of danger and honor the Circle’s choices while still implying there could be consequences… just dang. The portrayal of structural inequality of multiple kinds empowering the jeopardy of the Phenomena… chef’s kiss. Everyone really brought their A game and Oscar killed me this session, but Madame Glask using empathy and shared trauma as a wedge against the threat was just so damn heartfelt. Kudos to Gina. Every single one of these characters was so well portrayed. Thank you for this one.
This may be my favorite dming piece of Abria so far, I usually don´t fully resonate with her style but im immensely pleased with how she develops the story and transmits the feelings when the tone is more serious. Im very glad to have given Candela a chance, each of the circles has felt very different in what they transmit while fitting masterfully within the stories.
GOOD GOD Aabria is my favorite storyteller. It feels like she earns such a deep understanding of the players and their characters, and the deep-laid drives between both, with how she approaches running games. She is one of my favorite players, in the streaming realm, but by far she is my favorite storyteller online. Absolutely brilliant work, as always ❤
Idk if it’s the light or something but whenever these lovely folks Look down there’s a magical white line on their bottom water line that makes them loook like they’re on the verge of tears at all times and fuck does it make the emotional scenes hit harder
I really liked the previous two circles very much, but these guys are absolutely killing it. This level of RP is amazing to watch, and Abria is the freaking best GM so far.
Cosmos to the serious man: do you know me? Serious man: For you, the day the serious man graced the ship you were on was the most important day of your life. For me, it was Tuesday.
Huge thanks to CR for bringing Noshir and Gina into these. It's always a treat to see new people getting so invested in a storytelling. Such a great performance!
I like how this episode deived a bit more into "the lore" of the city, it makes the world feel more lived in, and I like stories of desperate people trying to use forces that they dont fully understand and the consequences of it, specially if it was all for a "good" cause (Also nice LoL refernce)
I love my Critical Role no questions asked but then I started to really enjoy the one shots a lot. Now these series it’s just so good and this Candela series it’s my scary story I can’t stop watching. Aabria Iyengar has me on edge her storyline is incredible and combine that with her voice gets low and thrillingly cold it’s just sucks me in. Sorry so long

When Rajan handed Madam Glask the doorknob and said "These are often used in..." when he paused after the word "in" I interjected with the word "doors" so it was like he was stating the obvious.
I am a sucker for moral complexity in storytelling. This this episode was so interesting. I am eager to see how the story concludes for this Circle. I suspected it will be an emotional rollercoaster
Episode one of this set is in my top 5 favorite episodes of any content CR has put out. It's that good. I love it all but specific ones are just prime standard storytelling.
Can someone get Sam on the phone, please? I think this is his knife that's been jabbed into my heart. Lemme check... yep, it says "Burt Reynolds" on the handle. Definitely his.
Ashley had only ever GM'd one game ever. Kinda hoping they can talk her into doing it for this. Shes way better at it than she gives herself credit for.
I'm thinking Talisen. But there are other horror gms that could do a part 4 if there is one. And it's also possible we get a preview on Thursday since we only have the one episode left.
Yea she did a space themed game and I love it so much. I wish she would do another one because she has great ideas. Unfortunately I don’t think she’ll ever try again or if she does it’ll be a cohosted game with someone else helping her, maybe Matt or Aabria
I weirdly didn't expect to see a second episode with this team. :O There were so many wild reveals at the end of the first episode, it felt like an introduction and finale all in one!
Totally agree. Between their horrific powers, deep connections, their obvious tensions, and the melancholic, gothic but relevant stories, it would make for a very moody and engaging watch. It already does.
We have any bets on the GM of part 4 yet? Talisen, Brennen, other friends? Who will be our players, Matt and Tal as players instead? Murphy,Zac Oyama or Soiban to complete our D20 crew. Erica Ishii, Damian 'smosh', so on
There are so many this I want to see play. It's hard to call who will be involved in next season. I really hope it's Brennen. Everyone from CR has now played except Matt so I hope he comes as a player.
@@stacieransom5677 He and Talisen both haven't played characters on screen yet. Matt gm'd and Tal is the intro. Loving all the these so far. I can see/understand why some people dislike this game as well as some people like it. I'd love to see B. Dave Walters, Becca Scott and Talesien (spelt wrong I know) among a few others, DM a story. It be great if Talesien being the DM for the final story with the other DM's as the players like the creme de la creme of Candela Obscura investigators investigating the most serious case.

Sometimes Aabria's makeup is a little too out there for my taste, but today she looks so stellar! And the spooky vibes narrations suit her style so much.
"Barely have flashlights!" The first image that came to mind was a flashlight the size of a cinderblock attached to a Ghostbuster backpack that weighs in to like 150 pounds lol
I really hope the finale episode of this circle hits it out of the park. I've found it difficult to watch these last two episodes, they just don't click with me. And I looooved the previous circle. 😢
Anyone know the song that plays roughly at 19:30? I have noticed it playing at almost all the episodes at some point but i can not bring my self to remember its name. Thanks in advance
I'm currently at 1:35:41 and I'm not sure if this is a spoiler, but this is the thought that just popped into my head.... Is the little girl in the beginning Oscar's daughter? Did she make a deal to save him in exchange for serving a sea deity? Is she the voice he hears when he dies? And when he walks up to her as bait, will he recognize her? 😢 oh dear
I love everything about the intro though couldnt help but pause at the missed opportunity for true horror in the first murder; it takes at least 40 seconds for an adult to drown after water has entered the lungs. Mere seconds would be considered a mercy.

I weirdly didn't expect to see a second episode with this team. :O There were so many wild reveals at the end of the first episode, it felt like an introduction and finale all in one!
I said it and I'm saying it again: This is the most animation-worthy circle out of the three. Disgusting (but happy disgusting).
I think they're all great. This one ..animated? Yes please!
@@stacieransom5677 Don't get me wrong, I love all of them, this one is just most visually appealing out of the three.
I do think that Brennan singing Take Me Out to the Ballgame would also make an excellent animated short
Totally agree. Between their horrific powers, deep connections, their obvious tensions, and the melancholic, gothic but relevant stories, it would make for a very moody and engaging watch. It already does.
"happy disgusting" is the new "fun scary"?
I am surprised Tal hasn't jumped into a table yet, so I've thought he's been learning up to DM a campaign. But gotta get Erica Ishii, Persephone Valentine, Damian from Smosh, a few other CR or D20 alums to join Matt and Tal.
Marisha said she wanted to try to GM
@@evetobe she did the mortal Kombat, and Liam did the persona one. So I was thinking because we haven't seen jaffee at the table for Candela was because he might GM the 4th instalment????
@@mikemiller8430 GMing Candela, not in general
I love how sam is always forever being the cause of chaos. No matter whether it to be troll other players, or to cause chaos to the story in some way 🤣🤣🤣
3:37:25 Honestly, not the weirdest thing I've seen at an IHOP.
the best thing cr ever did for my life was introducing me to Aabria Iyengar
No joke. She's an amazing DM and player.
good episode. really enjoying Noshir and Ashly. Sam and Liam too. Aabria you are an awesome GM.
The tide rolls in with a wave of blood and bone
People drowning in sea water no where near the sea...Uk'otoa...uk'otoa...Uk'otoa...Uk'otoauk'otoaUk'otoa...
45:33 Gadot and his Pop-Pop
Madam Glask: 30:44
Cosmo: 2:24:01
The side-by-side editing is a huge improvement!
Finally episode 2!
Sam's character is probably one of the most tragic in this new Candela universe so far, gradually becoming empty and loosing himself.
Always love seeing Aabria's GMing
10/10 best chapter ever
definitely not crying at Sams character tucking his son into bed.
This look of Aabria is A+ character design
Loving all the these so far. I can see/understand why some people dislike this game as well as some people like it.
I'd love to see B. Dave Walters, Becca Scott and Talesien (spelt wrong I know) among a few others, DM a story. It be great if Talesien being the DM for the final story with the other DM's as the players like the creme de la creme of Candela Obscura investigators investigating the most serious case.
This is insanely good
Can't wait for the next episode!
"They'd rather protect history than people." I got chills on this line ❤
Everyone who's hating, please read into the artistic commentary on social power structure pervasive in our IRL societies, or, if you mean to oppose said commentary, please excuse yourself as bigotry is not tolerated here.
Love this so much. Aabria's make up is top notch. 💫💫
Damn that was a movie in my head! i wish Tal dm the 4th circle !Aabria the work you give is a perfect orchestral machination ! Spencer wonderful world ! Matt is matt ... creature from gigax world !
Sometimes Aabria's makeup is a little too out there for my taste, but today she looks so stellar! And the spooky vibes narrations suit her style so much.
Sam and Abria in the first hour was intense!
"Barely have flashlights!" The first image that came to mind was a flashlight the size of a cinderblock attached to a Ghostbuster backpack that weighs in to like 150 pounds lol
Just getting around to watching this and leaving a comment for the sheer beauty of this chapter
I really hope the finale episode of this circle hits it out of the park. I've found it difficult to watch these last two episodes, they just don't click with me. And I looooved the previous circle. 😢
26:41 Liam drinking in character
Chapter 1 was full of surprises
Chapter 2 is full of sadness and heartache
Chapter 3 I have yet to see
I have to say, seeing Sam as a badass is quite refreshing. Smiley Day this mother_
I need a Noshir whispering into my ear every night
“I knew the young man was a little troubled” so close, he’s full of locusts. 🙂
Anyone know the song that plays roughly at 19:30? I have noticed it playing at almost all the episodes at some point but i can not bring my self to remember its name. Thanks in advance
i already regret commenting this but Rajan's design looks like the human version of Ratagan from the Great Mouse Detective
pff
Duuuuude. This is getting goooood!!
does anyone know what the name of the song that plays around 51:40 is?
Spoilers:
When Aabria as the water creature is talking to Gina (Cordelia), anyone else get Babylon 5 vibes when Aabria asked, "What do you want?"
Loud and clear.
I'm happy the girl stayed with the sentry, if it obeys her commands it could truly protect her
That world isn't a safe place
So good.
LIAM O'BRIEN DON'T YOU FUCKING DARE.
Totally not almost more excited for this than the main cr campaign atm, definitely not a close contender at all.
IM SO EXCITED AHH!!!
😢 oh dear
wait do they do the closed captions for this?? it didn't say it was automated so i assume they paid someone to do it all! aaaa
Last time they talked about it, it was automated with a human editor afterwards.
🤩 sheafing my blade 🎉
Gina darling is a gift 🧧 ❤ what a backstory...
I love everything about the intro though couldnt help but pause at the missed opportunity for true horror in the first murder; it takes at least 40 seconds for an adult to drown after water has entered the lungs. Mere seconds would be considered a mercy.
not the solid red croks 😂😂😂
