Do cr fans only watch cr? I'm not even following the main campaign, I show up for candella and one shots. Besides that I also watch other campaigns some of which do not release on a weekly basis like dungeons and daddies. The impatience is odd, and comes of as the fandom being shitty and toxic because they don't want the cast doing anything except the main campaign, way to be supportive I guess.

I liked that most members of this circle were walking supernatural phenomena. They seeked cures or answers, but ultimately received none. A doomed circle from the very beginning I also liked how this chapter painted Candela in a shady light. Trying to capture their own agents because they killed the Serious man? But I guess this is the way Candela survived in the dark throughout these centuries
Maybe shady.... or maybe the fact that they were really all as monstrous as many if the things other circles would be sent to investigate. They have to make sure their own people aren't ones causing the world risk. PCs aren't always the good guys.
I thought they turned on this circle because each of them were walking phenomenon. Nokari was protecting them all up to this point. It's an excellent story.
Ive watched critical role for the last few years along with other dnd channels and I have to say that Candela Obscura has been my favorite series by far. I love that its a different game and slower paced, I can listen to this while working or doiny chores and it feels like reading a book. The story telling in all 3 of the circles so far has been absolutely brilliant. To those who dont enjoy CO, please scroll past or click off. Dont send your hateful message to reign and fester in the comments. These people work so hard to bring us stuff, and sometimes it isnt for you. That doesnt give you the excuse to bully them.
It's interesting that you call CO slower-paced, where I find that the 3-mission structure provides more consistent momentum than the more informal pacing of the central game.
I'm still reeling from the fact that Noshir basically made me simp for an Avatar of the Corruption. I mean, Jane Prentiss who? Dear God, the voice on that man.
Candela has the best acting and characters of any CR production. Their main story characters have always been great, but everyone puts 150% into their brief spark of candela. Truely some of the best roleplay ever.
Agreed, I love the cr cast but the performances by Robbie and Rajan are do much more than creative voice actors. I could watch a movie or TV series of this and never know it was a ttrpg
@@tristanc2271check it out where? Hasn’t Undeadwood been deleted because of BWF? Fortunately I have already watched it but it’s a shame I can’t introduce other people to it anymore.
While I have loved all the candela obscura characters. Sam's and liam's will forever hold a special place in my heart. After losing my dad young and being raise by my grandfather who was paralyzed from the waist down. I feel as if I have resonated so much with them. The dynamic and background stories from these two are always amazing and over the top. Thanks so much for Oscar/Carrie's and Cosmo's performances and bringing them to life.
Goddess vibes, and one that you're not sure if you can trust or not. I love that she's this lovely bubbly person one second and threatening to take them all out in the next. 😂
Talk about showcasing range with these three very different yet equally emotional series- Matt brought the action/intensity, Spenser brought the horror/disturbia, and Aabria brought the drama/emotional sojourning that their styles were not limited to exclusively, but perhaps characterized by in a way that truly showed you could sit down at these three different tables for a few hours and not realize they were all playing the same game, but you would definitely understand they were all collaborating contributions to tell the story, as opposed to finding their way through someone else’s.
I just wonder, was it an honest mistake by Sam or did he deliberately mislead Aabria? She initially said he needed a critical success, not just a full success.
@andrecanis4894 She did, but even she wasn't sure. From everything I've seen from Sam ALL these years, I have no reason to believe that it wasn't an honest mistake.
@@bananafish58 yeah I don’t think Sam would try to cheat either. I mean Matt trusted him to keep track of FCG’s stress level, and Veth’s dagger. If anything, Sam would make it harder on himself, like deliberately not using Halfling luck.
@andrecanis4894 Also, Sam didn't hesitate one bit when answering Abria. So, though he was wrong, I think he thought he was right. You, mentioning Halfling Luck and Veth's dagger, reminded me of the only time Sam used it! 😂
3:45:21, Noshir's/Raj's pained expression , like he's about to cry, after seeing him so cool and reserved, argh it kills me and I just wanna give him a big comforting hug!
@@lumomagus as soon as I saw OP's comment I was going to comment the exact same thing. Brendon Lee, Mulligan, DM, Matt, Spencer and Abiria(sorry I misspelled it), tallison, and then maybe throw in a curve ball like a past crit roll guest, and I would be super down to watch
Most of the music they used for the Circle of the Vassal and the Veil has been released as a soundtrack. Several of the atmospheric tracks since haven't been, and I am chomping at the bit for that to change.
A heart rending conclusion to an emotionally charged, grotesque and tragic Circle. You all delivered on the narrative, catharsis and the surprises. Can’t say enough how much I enjoyed this Circle, the atmosphere of their adventures and the way Aabriya played with the character’s choices every time. Started watching CR consistently with ExU and I can definitely appreciate her instincts as GM to go for the jugular but make it feel earned. SPOILERS! Kudos to all of the cast and crew again for another great episode. Sam and Liam had me gutted at the end. Gina’s regret and acceptance with the transformation. Noshir, damn that smarmy professor made good on his promise to his family and himself in the most selfless way. And Ashley, making the tough choice, seeing what needed to be done and making sure her future would count, just glad Elsie and Mina have each other. Thank you all so much for this story.
So excited for this final episode!!! This Circle has been so different from the previous ones. I don't know how they do it but each chapter has such a distinctive energy/style/I don't even know how to classify it. Really love the show and so happy that we already have a new circle confirmed!
don't get too attached CO is underperforming - views never went up - now they even fall I can't watch a whole episode of CO yet, just never drags me in
well I know it won't be as long-running as the main show but I intent to enjoy every chapter they release until the end. It's kind of an anthology so it's not like we will miss anything once they decide to stop doing more chapters. Also I was mostly commenting to try to compensate the negativity of the first hours comments ;)
Just wanted to put it out there: Candela Obscura episodes are absolutely great. Want to keep seeing more of these. Anyone who wants to complain- keep it to yourself.
Father/child stuff always makes me extra emotional so this was BEAUTIFUL. Sam and Liam, wow. Everyone did SO well. I related way too hard at Gina realising her character could have lived!!!!! haha
Anyone else notice the difference in the file title during Tals intro section? 'Restricted file'... not 'investigation number' as is usual... instantly gave me chills pondering what THAT could possibly mean...
The lore established in second part with Iomene was honestly very unexpected, in a good way. What was done with that character was very much not what I was expecting from what we were told in the first and second episodes of this chapter AND what is implied in the backstory for the core rule book. But it doesnt feel like cheap twist or forced turn of the story to "get ahead of the audience".
Spoilers. Heavy spoilers. 100 percent. Aabriya turned what could have been a 1 note villain encounter into yet another fraught choice for each member of the circle from a sympathetic, but still dangerous figure. The way she tied in the disparate threats of the prior episodes to aspects of that figure that were shed for her survival and protection is some Neil Gaiman level [stuff]. The melancholic ending dovetailed perfectly with the character back stories and narrative arcs. Elsie and Mina. Best monsters forever.
as a person in a wheelchair, this season hit me way more than the others. I've never thought of playing a character with a mobility issue before, but Liam playing Cosmo hit all the right notes to straight up freak me out. I feel like of all the settings, one full of eldritch horror would definbitely be the worst one to be reliant on a wheelchair im. I feel like in DnD, tone depending, I'd be fine... but in the fairlands? that's a big nope from me. It's terrifying. I love it.
57:29 I bet Sam had flashbacks as he was screaming “Burch!” in this moment 2:04:44 It felt like Aabria always said “We’ll see you in the stars” and just stopped herself - “Wrong show, pivot!”
I love Candela Obscura and these three shots. Every Circle is a different feel and always satisfying. Boy do I need to see Matt as a player and Brennan as a GM in the next Circles, hopefully together.
Spoiler shield! The fact that Ashley Birch came back and instead of accidentally killing another player she ends up being the lone survivor… it’s a rough string of guest appearances for her😭
This episode was my favorite till now and i'm sad to see it end and i think we all cried at this ending but it was so beautiful even tho it was sad. The DM Style was such a blessing for this system in my opinion, and the players were amazing which created such a beautiful story for this chapter. i'm in love and i'll rewatch it more often. The live chat was such a mood as well
To all the kids that are annoyed that Critical Role releases something other than Critical Role: you know you don't have to be a completionist and watch every video on the channel, right?
"Another circle and another story" And I thought it was only gonna be 3 chapters to include all 7 og cr casts. I'm giddy to know who the next ones are going to be.
Technically we are still missing Taliesin as a player rather than our obligatory spooky narrator. And Matt as a player if we want to count that as well since he only GM'ed. I don’t think they'd ever do a whole series without any of the core CR cast (it is their channel after all), but I'm excited to see who's in the next cast.
I kinda want to see a circle with Matt, Taliesin, Erica Ishii, Siobhan Thompson and either Jason Charles Miller or Mary Elizabeth McGlynn. Probably with Brennan GM'ing.
This is a GREAT show, set in such a fantastic world!! I loved Aabria's DM'ing so much, and all the kudos to the cast!! I'm grateful for CR showing us fun, new passion projects, and I hope they continue to have fun with awesome content like this!!
SPOILER ALERT, PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK For my own sanity, it is my head canon that, although Ashly never stated it, Elsie also went back to the Antiquarian to get Godot so that he would be taken care of in a loving household.
This episode did absolutely not go the way i expected it to, but one awesome ending for such a broken Circle. SPOILER ahead . . . I do find it both incredible and hilarious that Aabria is the only GM who has managed to, effortlessly, kill 80% of her circle and no one has so much as batted an eyelid! In fact, we’re all applauding such a fitting end
Aabria's DM style illustrates this story so perfectly, I love eldritch horror and psychological terror already and this is the campaign that has sold me wholeheartedly on Candela. The cast does such a great job of sharing the spotlight and making choices that deepen the story
Every single episode of Candela is an absolute masterpiece, in every aspect. The set, the music, the DMs, the stories, the characters, the players, the RP. It's incredible how they've all been so different while within the same world/game/frame. And everybody's RP is just STUNNING, a whole different level, absolutely INCREDIBLE. Every single one of them. SO, SO good. Also, it's impossible not to have a hundred different fav things, from each Circle, but I do think my absolute favorite thing has been the dynamics between Raj and Oscar, and the dynamics between Elsie and Raj. Just. Chef's kiss. (We 1000% need more Noshir.)
Aabriya's storytelling in this series was SO good! Her narrative felt timely and I like the way she tied each character to Iomene and worked with each player to reach a satisfying resolution
This is the first time I've shed tears on six different moments in a podcast. What an incredible story, and truly beautiful acting. Already knew how fantastic Sam and Liam can be, but damn, Noshir is truly spectacular. Hope to see him again on CR. Beautiful performance by everyone, thank you kindly for sharing it with the world.
at around 45.00, Abriya 100-percent had said that Sam needed a "Critical Success" to avoid the bullet which rules wise, its TWO 6's. but then when she asked again Sam said she had said "Full Success" which is only one 6. Dont know if was beign sneaky about it but honestly... I cant say I wouldnt have done the same
This episode was incredible! Wow! This entire circle was so good, and the acting chops on Sam! I cried so much on this one! I loved how different this circle was from the others. Honestly, each circle is so vastly different. Looking forward to the next.
The amount of times i held my breath for the rolls cast, my goodness what a roller coaster but another amazing circle. Love everything that has come from these circles, just amazing stories and interactions. I would love to also see a segment with all of the game masters so far and their thoughts of how the chapters went and favorite moments and so on.
My absolute surprise and glee at seeing this having been uploaded half an hour ago is immeasurable! Love this series so much, and I'm excited to see how this circle concludes!
I swear, every time I thought my crying was over it started right up again with that ending. This circle of candela was amazing, and I hope we see more of all of the guests here soon!
that was absolutely beautiful. aabria continues to be just unthinkably amazing, all of of the players, the set pieces, the editing. absolutely something that should be watched full screen main monitor in the dark.
Alright, wow I should NOT have looked at the comments - can't believe there's this much negativity in the Critical Role "fandom" (I use that word very loosely, here). I hope y'all don't let those comments get to you. I for one absolutely adore Candela Obscura!
Same, I've loved every episode of Candela (Especially the 2nd circle with Spenser, really liked his cinematic dm'ing that was different style to usual and ofc Brennan bringing his absolute A-game with phenomonal acting). As with any fandom there's always negativity over something and CR is no different, whether it's Keyleth hate back in Campaign 1 or Candela hate most recently. However usually it's a vocal minority that makes it seem like a larger amount and most are either still enjoying or just ignoring it if it's not for them. Still not what you want to see.
One of the best series CR has produced in a while, roleplay wise, and looking at the viewcount I'm afraid they might cancel it in the future.. let's hope they don't
Doesn't ANYONE sign up for the newsletter, follow CR on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, or pay ANY ATTENTION WHATSOEVER to any announcements? Why the fuck are there so many whiny people in the comments?!?!? - The last Thursday of each month is always something other than the main campaign. - Everyone was sick the week before last. - There's more to this channel than the main campaign 24/7/365. - Hell, they even SAY what's coming up next in the beginning of each episode! I guess I'm not surprised. There are still people who can't understand an American show taking time off for American Thanksgiving, after all (And yes, before you even start, there ARE different Thanksgivings!)
I guess there are many newbies who came here because of the animated show or whatever. These people wouldn't have survived the days with Handbooker Helper, AWNP, one shots and so on
@doom3798 Doesn't an incredible amount of time and energy go into planning each session, for Matt? I feel like they've talked about this. They're clearly working hard, all of them. There isn't going to be any episodes for us to love if they go at a speed that ultimately isn't sustainable. It has to work for them, and there still has to be joy in it. I sincerely hope they take the time they need so they still _want_ to keep doing this.
@doom3798 Sounds like you should pull your money from your subscription and invest in some books, miniatures, and maps. You too, can have an on-demand* supply of special, customized, Dungeons and Dragons Only entertainment - whenever you want! *restrictions and limits apply, including but not limited to: energy, time, creativity, dm skill, and player schedule alignment If you're not willing to invest yourself in that, it looks like you're going to have to wait patiently for the ones who do, on their terms!
@doom3798 You know, it's interesting, the things you mention as improvements, for me they would be the opposite. I really love that they are keeping this as close as possible to the original live stream - to really great storytelling. I appreciate them for that. ☺️ I also think that, regardless of how much money is going into their business (which doesn't necessarily all go back to them, it seems like they are investing heavily in creating other things that inspire them, which makes me happy for them, and they have a ton of employees to pay. They are really building something and it's pretty darn brilliant if you ask me), they are still people, they are the resource and still need the time and maybe mostly the _energy_ to put themselves into their story this way. They all seem to have projects outside Critical Role, and there are only so many hours in a day. I think they're doing great. I think it's a strength that they assess and reassess what they need, what works for them and what changes they need going forward. Without that my personal opinion is that we might have lost Critical Role a long time ago. :)
I so hope they keep adding to this series; I seriously love this format/aesthetic/game theme; every circle's story so far has been wonderful to listen to and the acting of all the players has been totally fantastic. 🥰
I am so in love with all of what CR does. I want to say, GM - QUEEN, I am loving your makeup and hair.!! It's adding to the Egyptian type mysteries of the early 20th century!! LOVING IT!!!
@@rbc_rehsu Yeah, she was a guest player during a character death. Some of the less stable members of the fanbase saw this as a reason to harass her on Twitter for a while (while others made a point of mocking them for such stupidity) so I'm glad to see she's at least comfortable enough to come back. Keg is still an awesome character. ;^)
It was a pleasure and a beautiful journey we could all have the honor to be a part of (even as a fly on the wall). Congratulations to every single one of you. You broke and patched up my heart so many times I lost count. Incredible work.
I watched this because I love ashly burch and was not at all expecting it to be so fantastic, this is really incredible!! The world building and emotion and storytelling are unbelievable, shout out to everyone that worked on it!
4:02:43 Power couple Sam and Abria making magic together again! Sam, injectioning humor into a very serious moment, and Abria, following suit with her "11 innings" confession. 🥰
I am very glad I waited so I could binge this Circle over a couple days! So delicious getting all the details close together rather than weeks apart and forgetting a bunch of nuance

I really hope to see Noshir on another CR show in the future. I feel like we only got a taste of what he can do in a TTRPG space in this series.
My favorite take-away from chapter 3 is being introduced to Noshir. Damn.
100% here for that.
I think he's on the mk1 oneshot

Have you watch C2?
@@caisht not yet. I'm getting around to it
I'm still reeling from the fact that Noshir basically made me simp for an Avatar of the Corruption. I mean, Jane Prentiss who? Dear God, the voice on that man.
Ayyy it's the Magnus Archives fans!
Prentiss could never. Also sorting these characters by Fear is a fun game (goes for any horror characters really)
For those of your who agree, check out CR's Undeadwood
@tristanc2271 yeah this also a great series.
Worth looking at the crossroads games as well, very small channel with some excellent content.
@@tristanc2271UNDEADWOOD went so hard! Everyone needs to watch it.

Aabria always has the coolest hair
She's so beautiful! And talented!
And the most ruthless storytelling. She's powerful!!!
Her style is just so, so good.
At the "what do you fear that's behind you?" I went it's Matt Mercer staring at you from the shadows
Obsessed with Aabria’s look this episode - hair, makeup, outfit, and overall aura. Bravo Aabria for an amazing run with this Circle.
I genuinely wish I had a small fraction of Abria's style
Goddess vibes, and one that you're not sure if you can trust or not. I love that she's this lovely bubbly person one second and threatening to take them all out in the next. 😂
legitimate Pharaoh
Talk about showcasing range with these three very different yet equally emotional series- Matt brought the action/intensity, Spenser brought the horror/disturbia, and Aabria brought the drama/emotional sojourning that their styles were not limited to exclusively, but perhaps characterized by in a way that truly showed you could sit down at these three different tables for a few hours and not realize they were all playing the same game, but you would definitely understand they were all collaborating contributions to tell the story, as opposed to finding their way through someone else’s.
GM Roundtable 2: Electric Bleed-a-through?
45:19 Liam's reaction when Sam rolls a 6 to completely avoid being shot is so visceral...And, yet, he stayed in character! 😍
@@andrecanis4894 I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, but as for why no one else at the table corrected him?...

I hope they do a circle where previous DMs can play. That would be awesome!
Yeah and Brennan Lee Mulligan can DM it! since he was a player!
I have never once skipped a candela opening, the music is so incredible and intense, they really need to drop a Candela Obscura playlist FR
Most of the music they used for the Circle of the Vassal and the Veil has been released as a soundtrack. Several of the atmospheric tracks since haven't been, and I am chomping at the bit for that to change.
I want a Taliesin ASMR playlist.
@@MWaever Nope. I don't trust CR with ASMR anymore.
That entire last part with Aabria interacting with each player was nothing short of masterful. Bravo it was beautiful!
If by masterful you mean melodramatic and boring, sure
❤ Even if at the end Gina sais that she did not understand that she could have stay alive... it was a surprise but still make sense for her character.
So excited for this final episode!!! This Circle has been so different from the previous ones. I don't know how they do it but each chapter has such a distinctive energy/style/I don't even know how to classify it. Really love the show and so happy that we already have a new circle confirmed!
don't get too attached
CO is underperforming - views never went up - now they even fall
I can't watch a whole episode of CO yet, just never drags me in
well I know it won't be as long-running as the main show but I intent to enjoy every chapter they release until the end. It's kind of an anthology so it's not like we will miss anything once they decide to stop doing more chapters. Also I was mostly commenting to try to compensate the negativity of the first hours comments ;)
@@sarahraynore6713 you do you, girl
as long as CR does not take CO off the server you can rewatch and enjoy them over and over again 😄
It is really interesting to get such different takes in this same world and also see different GM styles too
The dynamic between Oscar and Cosmo was so unique and touching.
1:28:00 "how hurt are you" brings back flashbacks... _hard_ flashbacks 🙃
I just love Sams expressions whenever Noshir describes anything to do with his insects....
Just wanted to put it out there: Candela Obscura episodes are absolutely great. Want to keep seeing more of these. Anyone who wants to complain- keep it to yourself.

Where was Needle and Thread, was that one of the other Candela runs???
Yeah, it’s the second chapter of Candela GM’d by Spenser. I highly recommend it.
@rayebeard thank u nakama, good looking
Father/child stuff always makes me extra emotional so this was BEAUTIFUL. Sam and Liam, wow. Everyone did SO well. I related way too hard at Gina realising her character could have lived!!!!! haha
Anyone else notice the difference in the file title during Tals intro section? 'Restricted file'... not 'investigation number' as is usual... instantly gave me chills pondering what THAT could possibly mean...
They did that on the final episode of Needle & Thread, too. It seems like the redacted titles represent events that Candela wants . . . obscured. 😏
All the tears in this. So good that it wasn't a normal big baddy battle, just reflective ending, how far will you go for what you want.
Legend says Liam to this day is still fused with Cosmo Grimm
Noshir looks so badass with the eye patch
fr he looks so great (better with every episode)
as a person in a wheelchair, this season hit me way more than the others. I love it.
57:29 I bet Sam had flashbacks as he was screaming “Burch!” in this moment
2:04:44 It felt like Aabria always said “We’ll see you in the stars” and just stopped herself - “Wrong show, pivot!”

And I thought it was only gonna be 3 chapters to include all 7 og cr casts.
Im really enjoying how different each groups experience is within the same world
This is a GREAT show, set in such a fantastic world!! I loved Aabria's DM'ing so much, and all the kudos to the cast!! I'm grateful for CR showing us fun, new passion projects, and I hope they continue to have fun with awesome content like this!!
Also, the production as a whole is amazing, as a fellow set builder, and show techie. Beautiful design, as always with this set!
Aabria, oh my god! I can not sing enough praise! From Oscar to Glask, that was such a switch up in tone in between scenes.
SPOILER ALERT, PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK
For my own sanity, it is my head canon that, although Ashly never stated it, Elsie also went back to the Antiquarian to get Godot so that he would be taken care of in a loving household.
I was thinking the same thing ! ❤🐶 Such a good boy!
When she said her beast had a new form, I immediately expected it to be Godot related.
This episode did absolutely not go the way i expected it to, but one awesome ending for such a broken Circle. SPOILER ahead

I do find it both incredible and hilarious that Aabria is the only GM who has managed to, effortlessly, kill 80% of her circle and no one has so much as batted an eyelid! In fact, we’re all applauding such a fitting end
It was too bad that the circle didn't get the chance to peruse the secret room from the door knob.
Aabria's DM style illustrates this story so perfectly, I love eldritch horror and psychological terror already and this is the campaign that has sold me wholeheartedly on Candela. The cast does such a great job of sharing the spotlight and making choices that deepen the story
The most cinematic and emotive game master ever. I’m floored.
Taliesen’s soothing voice over chilling music… SO GOOD!
I am a 32 year old male construction worker. Actively weeping at work listening to this on my lunch. What a show.
I cant say I wouldnt have done the same
Yeah I noticed that too. Sam confirmed it so confidently tho that I think they just rolled with it😂
This arc of Candela has been my favorite by far!
"...how 'on fire' is this place?"
Such a talented group! And what a beautiful, emotional story.

Give it a few hours so real fans can catch up and leave more loving comments, we will end up drowning them ;)
I feel like the community has gotten way too parasocial and critical as of late.
One of the best series CR has produced in a while, roleplay wise, and looking at the viewcount I'm afraid they might cancel it in the future.. let's hope they don't
I think this one was my favourite of all. High stakes. High prices paid. No stuffing around. Perfect. Chef's kiss as always for Aabria!
Man the end of this episode is powerful and tear jerking!
*restrictions and limits apply, including but not limited to: energy, time, creativity, dm skill, and player schedule alignment
If you're not willing to invest yourself in that, it looks like you're going to have to wait patiently for the ones who do, on their terms!
@@brennam.3579 I like what you did there 😂
@doom3798 You know, it's interesting, the things you mention as improvements, for me they would be the opposite. I really love that they are keeping this as close as possible to the original live stream - to really great storytelling. I appreciate them for that. ☺️
I also think that, regardless of how much money is going into their business (which doesn't necessarily all go back to them, it seems like they are investing heavily in creating other things that inspire them, which makes me happy for them, and they have a ton of employees to pay.
The Candela Obscura serieses are my favorite thing on the channel!!
