I especially like Spenser's video, which gives insight into how this incredible story came together. See y'all in Chapter 3. Any moments I missed? Feel free to post them here. Is it Thursday yet?😊
My headcanon will forever be him saying "No, Ma. I don't wanna play soldier no more... I just wanna play baseball." I was ready to bust down in tears if he said that. Still hit so hard though. GD Brennan
The way Spenser handled Brennan's choice was so cool, having him roll or not offscreen to both the cast and the audience so we'd be on the same level of suspense as the other PCs on wether it's still Sean was fucking perfect
I love when Sean Finnerty is just talking about this baseball game to General Clyburn as if he were a friend, and he is just nonchalant about it all, but when he started to tear up it broke me especially towards the end of the episode. You cannot help but feel for Sean Finnerty and what he has been through. Brennan Lee Mulligan is just a phenomenal voice actor and I love the voice that he was using for Sean Finnerty.
@@masterjaczor9892 Bro when he said that when Anthony believed in him, there was nothing he couldn't do, that shit ended me. When he was telling the story about the baseball, God that shit hurts, made me wanna go hug my siblings lol
No, not as a friend I would say is instead to read as, "this is what you've taken from me, my family, my brother, a good person better than myself, you robbed me of a part of myself too". Sean wanted to show Clyburn a fool of a man and a essentially evil person, this is what a real monster is the ones you make...
This was the most intense scene of Critical Role history to me. This beats the Bard's Laments, Molly's tomb unearthing and the Bassuras massacre. Hell, it even beats the longest minute of history when Asmodeus came out from the Tree of Names. Sean descending into villainy at Mach speed when his sanity as reach the bottom and all his grievance resurface in the most violent way possible... That's dark.
@@ItMeMees That's actually an interesting thing that I found out. I assumed that the astrolabe(?) behind Spencer and Matt previously was a green screen. Then Spencer used it as an example of how the ones in the game functioned and I was much more impressed than I already was.
Yeah, at the end of the last episode I think Spenser said that “we are beyond cases now” they are just operating as a group to take this threat out. Cool attention to detail
Know this is late, but I think it's a restricted file because nobody in Candela has a clue what happened that night. Two lightkeepers were killed, two chapter houses were attacked, and then we have the events of this episode. None of this was an official assignment/ nobody was keeping recorded, and I think all Candela had, regarding these events, was their own investigation and what few testomines they could gather. This wasn't some organized assignment given to a circle. These were the desperate actions of a few now lightkeeper-less agents trying their best to stop what was happening.
I think it’s really impressive that Aunty bea’s first scar and only happened in the very last episode. It really attests to her level of experience as a Candela member as well as her resourcefulness. I loved her character the most personally 🥹 Marisha played the hell out of her!
I just knew Brennan would pull through with his comic relief character to brighten the mood of this dark setting one more time. Gotta love the guy, as a DM for Calamity, a player for Candela Obscura, all variety of stuff outside of it, he's hilarious, clever, devious, pure evil, seriously messed up and just a great guy in general.
That has been really funny to watch, but my favorite part has been watching Muligan play. I always enjoy when he DMs, but as a player he is extraordinary.
4:46:48 If you look closely you can see Brennan wink at Spenser about the explosives plot he texted him. After the wink watch Travis, who is the only one who clocked the interaction and just starts smirking like, "What the fuck was that?!"
I loved seeing Brennan playing in such a cinematic and devastatingly dark setting. His little moments when he broke character were such a welcome and expertly timed comic relief.
I'm sure you already know this by now, since I'm a good five-ish months behind on just about the entirety of CR's content at the moment, but I'm pretty sure there's character creation vids posted after the last episode of each Candela chapter.
Probably, in my opinion, the best chapter in this series so far. The tension, emotion, twist, and overall role-playing from each cast member is so phenomenal. Brennan taking the villain/broken soldier route for Sean, he’s so ruthless and committed to it. You feel his rage, his sanity/mental state self-destructing, and him being so tired of it all, wanting for it to all end, until the one person who still sees the good in him, Auntie Bee, finally puts him to rest. The paradox time warping scene with Marion is such a twist. It's like him taking control of his life, his destiny, his future. Also, Marion’s acceptance of death is no longer being afraid of it but instead is more afraid of losing his loved ones. So the ultimate sacrifice of him relinquishing his soul for Jean is both tragic and beautiful. Jean carries a lot of guilt for the people who died around her (her father, mother, and Violet) and for her being a doctor, you take a vow to never take a life. She carries this heavy responsibility to help people, to help her comrades, eventually, it starts to take a toll on her mental, physical, and emotional state. It’s very beautiful to see her comrades' support along the way, especially with Marion, comforting her during her lowest moments, and even in his last moments, to comfort her one last time not focusing on the past, but to focus on all the different possible futures that she can have. Auntie Bee's presence throughout has always been very motherly to the others. Throughout her journey, she's been reminded of her past like the rest of her comrades, being reminded of her husband, and losing him, but despite all of that, she persisted. Comforting her boys at their lowest, reminding Jean to clear her mind, and helping/assisting Nathaniel whenever. Even in the end, she continues her job, guiding the little boy Luca to a better future. Nathaniel's journey of resenting his family, his father, for their arrogance, he strives to be better than them. However, the weight of guilt that he carries for the drowning of his older brother drags him throughout, and even the guilt of Allison becoming a creature. So for him, he embarks on this road, in a way, redemption, to right the wrongs that his family has caused. In the end, his father, although not directly to Nathaniel, sheds a tear, presumably out of guilt or even pride for his son. This has been my favorite chapter of Candela Obscura so far, and Spencer has been a terrific GM. I hope we get to see more of his work and see what comes next for this horrific, terrifying, suspenseful series. :)
"We pay respects to the circle of Needle and Thread, wherever they may be." Needle and Thread really brought tears to my eyes. This was magnificent horror story.
Marion is a true friend for real. Spoilers: I know that he didn't kill himself for Sean, but in the grand scheme of things, homie really said "If it's quittin' time for you, it's quittin' time for me, too." Hopefully, they're together somewhere in the afterlife.
Here's a neat trick, watch the whole thing (all 6+ HOURS of it). Then go back to the very beginning again and listen to Taliesin give an extra epilogue.
@@sgising2 I had, 'well it does make sense the larger organization doesn't know their location. Their contact/lightkeeper and base of operation has fallen and this mission is them going off-book to uncover and resolve the issue that took the chapter-house', but why is there still a case-file on it, and more importantly why is it restricted? But indeed, it does work great as an epilogue as well.
... or just a more traditional fireside chat format in which they just talk about the stuff that's actually interesting, in the ideal case moderated by a talkshow host who knows about the show, but isn't part of the cast, instead of playing jenga and answering randomly selected questions including stupid "evergreen questions" like what the favorite movie or icecream flavor of their characters would be. All those gimmicks they put into 4-sided dive to me were maybe a little bit of fun the first and second time, when they were still new. Now they all feel like pointless filler material. And that's not even counting the entirely pointless second half in which they play some random game together. I totally understand why they had to get rid of Brian, but I don't get why they didn't just replace him and otherwise stuck to the talks machina format.
@@chrisrudolf9839 If you're familiar with Dimension 20, they have a talkback show called Adventuring Party that's basically just an ordinary discussion for each episode, no gimmicks. I'd like to see something like that for CO.
One of the best episodes of anything ever. I never thought I'd see a GM capable of being quite as diabolical as Brennan is in the role, but there's Spenser right there, and it's incredible.
after i finished this episode i went to my roomate and explained to him i NEVER EVER want to hear take me out to the ball game again. its become the antithesis of horror to me XD
The word you're looking for is 'shivering', ''shuttering', or possibly 'getting chills', etc... but 'cringing' is absolutely not the correct descriptor here. 'Cringing' is both overused to the point it has lost all descriptive value in pop culture for any depth of emotion, while also it is often MISUSED. It's actually describing a response one has to something one finds poorly used, overused, or in bad taste, such as 'We were all cringing as the teen stalled their car again while learning to drive shift' or 'As she ran across the gravel in her new heels, I was cringing at the damage to the expensive shoes and the possibility of her tripping.' It's more of a 'faux pas' response. This is often why people describe 'cringe' as 'cringe', because at the moment it fits its own definition... It has a second, less used definition of... well fear, but not horror. More synonymous to 'flinching' as a response to a jump scare or imminent pain or impact. This is more... psychological horror. The first word or note of the song doesn't have the same impact as hearing the first few words and it sinking in, because him saying 'Take my hand!' and 'Take me out to the ball game!' illicit a different response still. This is not meant to be a criticism, just informative because the word feels... like a synonym taken for the wrong use of the word you were looking for, which boils down to some form of response to 'FEAR'. This definitely was one of those tingles down your spine moments though, so I agree to your sentiment. Brennan does scary very well. I had this with 'Three Blind Mice' after watching the play 'The Mousetrap'. Legit more tension than ANY scary movie if done right on stage, when just off stage the song 'Three Blind Mice' starts playing during the power outage scene as the murderer plays it and reveals themself... chills! Admittedly, 'Three Bling Mice' is a pretty sick and twisted song, most nursery rhymes and children songs are though, kids just don't realize it.
They didn't do a post campaign talk for part one, which I wish they did! But I would LOVE one for part two! These episodes were probably some of my favorite Eldritch Horror TTRPG I've ever experienced. Love Brennan and Luis together but really everyone brought such great performances together, and Sean was such a masterful GM, really liked watching his style evolve a little over the series which allowed for some really amazing moments! Need more!
I need to talk about Zehra's visible agony at being hit by the blast. Jean is so clearly a woman who values her appearance, and the way her voice shakes when she realizes her hair is gone and her coat is destroyed hit me viscerally. Good stuff.
Im glad I’m not the only one who felt the connection. There’s only one other series like this that has captured my attention and utterly wrecked me and that was Calamity. I watched this entire 6 hour show in one sitting, not because I planned to, but because I couldnt possibly leave.
The way Brennan can just make these EPIC moments with these EXQUISITE monologues and at the same time make you root for someone doing bad things is ... incredible.
If they release 1:31:00 - 1:44:45 as a promotional video, even in an edited down form, it would probably get more people into Candela Obscura the same way "That Evan Kelmp Scene" got a ton of people into Dimension 20.
@@kayetamayao7612 Honestly, Spencer Starke may have made his way into my top favorite GMs. He has a similar quality to Jason Carl, the Storyteller for the Vampire the Masquerade actual plays, where he doesn't really have a lot of unique voices he can do, but he has more than enough presence in every scene to make up for it.
@@Hey-Its-DingoI had to learn to love Jason Carl because I was used to voice actors DMing. I now love his style. He perfectly acts out the characters despite not changing his voice. He proves you don't need a flexible voice to be a good actor, especially in this form of storytelling.
@@Hey-Its-Dingo I think Spenser makes up for the lack of funny voices by being more cinematic with his scene depictions. Aabria does the same thing, although she's got a few funny voices in her back pocket.
This arc is a work of art, definitely my personal favorite of the ones they've made so far. It's so deeply character-based and cinematic and emotional, absolutely beautiful and heartbreaking.
Just think how many critters (and other potential viewers in general) out there still have Candela to experience for the first time. And we’re here “on the other side” smiling at what awaits them. Just fantastic.
A big round of applause to Zehra! She was so good. Some of my favorite scenes were with her and Luis. They had wonderful chemistry together. She took to actual play like a duck to water. Also, a round of applause for Travis. He usually plays such oafs but I really liked this dramatic turn of a man reckoning with his past mistakes and what part he played in Sean's downfall. Well done. I knew Brennan was going to be great. I loved Sean. He was a man dealing with both literal demons and figurative deamons. He played a tortured war vet to perfection. Luis, as usual, killed it! Marisha playing an old lady who has seen the devastation of war. Did such a great job. She was funny when she needed to be dramatic at the right moments. Lastly, I enjoyed Spencer. I don't know if he is a GM all the time, but I thought he did a fine job bringing the game he helped design and write to life. Really great job all around.
Non Spoilers: Brennan was catastrophically good in this. It might have been his best performance, ever. I know Actual Play performance does not automatically translate into stage/film acting but I’ve always, always, always dreamt of seeing Brennan in a serious scripted production. Spoilers: I was so afraid of a tpk at the end of this "season", and I thought that a narratively satisfying - if tragic - ending for me would have been that Marion dies and Sean turns evil / betrays Candela over it. And Im shocked that I wasn’t that far off? Although it is a shame that Sean did die, it would have been awesome if he had coned back for next season as a villain as an NPC.
Man, so damn grateful that Spenser had everybody recap what had happened. I couldn’t remember shit and then Luis started talking and everything started clicking and by the time the recap was done… I was right back in the zone.
Loved this chapter. I was wondering the whole time whether had Sean was compromised or replaced. Brennan did such a job conveying a person that must have been so broken to trade in his best friend.
I kept thinking he couldn't be replaced because the other creature still appeared, but then I became unsure if there was more than one creature/sibling.
If you don't leave this episode believing that Brennan Lee Mulligan is the best to ever do Actual Play of TTRPGs, I don't think you and I can get along. The man is a genius.
Brennan was good but so was Luis damn he was the MVP this episode. And for Chapter 1 Robbie was good as well he definitely added more horror elements to it. Critical Role hires a brilliant cast of people to guest in their channel
So remember how all of us are sure Orym is fine and totally the least likely person to snap under the pressure? I feel like Sean gave us a peek at what Orym breaking would look like.
I think we got a look at Orym going off a bit in that lava battle. He went from defensive to straight up offense. Completely dominated that one enemy by jumping on top of him and hacking him to death with a sword while the guy was sinking in magma with the purpose of drowning him in it. That's pretty dark for Orym already.
I would LOVE to see Zehra come back to the table someday! For this being her first time at the table, she's an incredible actor and brings so much emotion and expression to her character. I loved every moment of this Circle. As much as I adore the main Critical Role campaign, I have not been this on-the-edge-of-my-seat since Calamity. The first Circle got me hooked on Newfaire but this Circle made me fall in love with the setting. I dont run games but I'm definitely going to be getting the Candela guide book just for the lore!
“Open your mouth” In that moment, a third of the audience were scared, a third aroused, and a third both. Sublime. If we can have one dark, twisted short tale like this and Calamity a year from CR, I’ll be more than happy.
watching Spenser weave this story was fucking amazing. He's just as good as Matt and Brennan IMO and I'm here for everything he does from here on out. Well done Sir.
I never thought I'd feel the level of intensity I felt with ExU Calamity ever again, yet here we are. In my opinion, this is tied for the best piece of ttrpg media I've ever seen. I legitimately made myself sick with suspense over this and had to take a week to recover. Friggin phenomenal job.
One thing I’d like anyone who didn’t watch this live to know is: We LIVED for the exploding chicken eldritch worm bait/worm bombs in the chat The chicken puns flowed NONSTOP
@@SplitGoose Lots of people do. It was six hours, after all. Plus, some people have spotty Internet, and missed a few parts. Or they missed something attending to real life matters. Personally, I think watching something a few times is a much better hobby than teasing people.
Brennan took us fully into this world tonight. Love your rp mate. I love how they use makeup to show the wear and tear of each episode. I like the Tremores reference in this episode.
The Chickens and the bike scene, is simply the greatest moment of all roleplaying, ever. I laughed so heard I had tears streaking and struggled to breathe. Brennan¨s roleplay when Sean gets his revenge, out of this world. The plot twist, one of the most mind blowing ones I've experienced. My god, this was such a fantastic episode. The storytelling of Spencer coupled with Brennans' roleplay, a match made in heaven.
I am so pleasantly surprised by Spencer’s DM style!! His voice is soothing to listen to and he’s so casual and confident about his descriptions that it makes them seem even scarier. I can’t wait to see more from him!!
I cried like a baby when Sean talked to his mom at the end what a great story bittersweet also I don't think Sean died in the beginning I think he just made the deal with the monster
Yeah, that's what it seems like. Considering the creature he'd been talking with at the beginning was killed during that last battle, but Sean was still around after it died.
After his comment at 5:01:56 "what makes you think I made the roll?" I think he accepted the deal with the demon knowing this would end hin either way. Plus this was the only reason why there where no indication in the mirroring surfaces throughout this Episode (the Lake, the walls). The demon lurred him into this down spiraling, killing the last human spark in him and them used him
@alicenaps234 seeing that Sean was still alive at the end, and the demon died indicated that he just worked with the demon. He didn't roll, because he just accepted the deal and help the demon
I've been breaking this down into 1 1/2 hour segments. Wow the story has gotten intense. I really like how Spencer Starke is GMing this, even more than how Mercer did, and that's saying something. Anyone that's on the fence about the show. I highly recommend it. It starts a little slow, but once it gets going the wheels and wings fly off and it becomes a wild rocket ride of chaos.
Oh so now I can cry AGAIN about fucking Sean Finerty and Brennan's A+++ fucking acting. Him and Luis always making me cry. Why is it always you two?!?!
Oh me? What am I doing? Oh, nothing much, just doing my part to tell the RUclips algorithm this is Q U A L I T Y content! Legitimately, I love this so much. I know these Candela Obscura videos aren't nearly as popular as the main D&D campaigns, but that is a tragedy because they're SOOO good!!!! Like seriously, the production value is bonkers, the atmosphere and general vibes are immaculately dark and macabre, and don't get me S T A R T E D on the ACTING!!! Some of the best continuously intense, high action drama you'll find anywhere, and it's filled with such heart and much terror I seriously can't get enough of it! I hope the Candela videos don't completely stop after the game's full release, I'd love it if they brought it back once a year to lead up to Halloween, or who knows what
I don't watch the non main campaign stuff live but often put them to the side to watch later i.e. I'm watching these candela episodes back to back so that the storyline makes sense rather than having big gaps between. I assume lots of critters are the same and don't prioritise it in the same way as the main campaign but will get there. Also, a lot of people probably just don't enjoy eldritch horror, it's not everyone's cup of tea
Oh my god, the whole scene starting at an hour and a half in... i got goosebumps. Dear lord what a fucking episode. Not done yet but just this far into it i am blown away. WHAT A GREAT SERIES!!
even when Brennan's not the GM he still finds a way to be fucking evil wtf 😭 draw me in with cool as fuck scenes and then make me cry in the middle of the night over this goddamned betrayal and final moments of my boy
This is going to be a wild ride ☠ I watched it live and personally think Needle & Thread could have profited from a 4th episode. The ending felt a bit rushed (despite the 6 hour run time) and the circle could have used a break. But I have to say I really enjoyed this circle and must say Spencer is a great GM. Hopefully he´ll be back soon
I know they’re giving us a showcase of their game so I don’t mind but I really enjoy the game system and think a longer series would be a lot more impactful. Harder to get to know everyone and feel attached in three episodes.
@@rebeccafindlay6176 i think Critical Role did said that the cast from previous chapters could return some day if the 3 Chapters did really well. Matt even suggested with the first circle for them to try to keep their characters alive because maybe they could return some day.
Tiny spoiler: I agree about a 4th episode, or at least I think Spenser could've spent a little more time on the aftermath part of the storytelling, as I feel we didn't really get a chance to see the circle come back together and recoup and mourn the losses of Sean and Marion.
Brennan Lee Mulligan, man...dude wrote us an entire Disney sports movie, played all three starring roles in it, then played it for us in three minutes. Just as *setup*. I am, as always, amazed by his genius.
can we talk about the soundtrack i feel like we are not talking about the soundtrack enough. the lullaby of the lost peaking through around 5:41:40, in the moments of silence? cherry on top
Brendan is pure genius. I liked Spencers style. I think some situations gave more bleed/body than seemed appropriate, but hes making choices on the fly, and overall orchestrated an amazing mood and feel and expertly faciliatated these actors into captivating character experiences
Goddamn, Brennan. "I don't care if you bring hell on Earth. Because if they wanted to stop it, they wouldn't have let it become hell already for so many of us." This...this hit me so hard and was so fucking profound that I had to stop the video and write that quote into my DM journal, because holy shit.
I watched this live and I can only recommend. Amazing storytelling by everyone, one of the best showdowns, I cared for every character. Chapeau! One of my favorite Critical Role Episodes ever!
This was amazing, and that's coming from someone who admittedly didn't love the Vassal and Veil chapter. Love Spencer's cinematic style, and Brennan is just as amazing a player as he is a DM. Zehra and Luis are also incredible. While I was iffy on the first chapter, this one sold me on what can be done with the system.
"Just" 3 episodes, but this was such a great story. Spenser as GM was superb, loved the relatioship between Marion and Sean, LT and his boys, Auntie Bee as the "mother" of the team and Zehra as Doctor. Chapter 2 was great!

The cast did another Instagram takeover, once again Bixbi Boom is holding it down, making sure the videos are available on their channel. I especially like Spenser's video, which gives insight into how this incredible story came together. See y'all in Chapter 3.

Some “The Thing” type shit
I love when Sean Finnerty is just talking about this baseball game to General Clyburn as if he were a friend, and he is just nonchalant about it all, but when he started to tear up it broke me especially towards the end of the episode. You cannot help but feel for Sean Finnerty and what he has been through. Brennan Lee Mulligan is just a phenomenal voice actor and I love the voice that he was using for Sean Finnerty.
I teared up too, incredible actor.

No, not as a friend I would say is instead to read as, "this is what you've taken from me, my family, my brother, a good person better than myself, you robbed me of a part of myself too". When his mother is revealed to be in the room... Holy cow
I literally gasped out loud and made my own mother ask what was wrong 💀
Absolutely DIABOLICAL, Spenser Starke. Well DONE.

Late to the game. But noticing that it was a “Restricted File” and not a “Case Number” gave me goosebumps.
I thought i was the only one that noticed it
I love the level details the cast and crew put into everything they do
@@ItMeMees That's actually an interesting thing that I found out.
"You are worth more than the things that happened to you."
Brennan made me cry again.
The irony, Sean Finnerty never saved that grace for himself
@@AToZed71 I don't think he could, because in his mind he could only see himself as the one who inflicted the harm.

Spencer: “this game doesn’t have PvP game mechanics”
Me: “than WHO INVITED BRENNAN?!?”

YES!
after last episode, I wasn’t sure I’d be able to watch this episode for awhile, but after reading this I feel better so I’m diving back in.

3:14:15 reminds me of a very important Brennan quote: "I'm _all_ the bad guys!"
Every time Brennan is on Critical Role it's just such Calamity
Here's a neat trick, watch the whole thing (all 6+ HOURS of it). Then go back to the very beginning again and listen to Taliesin give an extra epilogue.
I heard the intro and went "that sounds like a closing statement"
When I heard it, my first thought was "WHY DOESN'T CANDELA KNOW WHERE THEY ARE!?"
Such foreshadowing...
Well called
@@sgising2 I had, 'well it does make sense the larger organization doesn't know their location. Their contact/lightkeeper and base of operation has fallen and this mission is them going off-book to uncover and resolve the issue that took the chapter-house', but why is there still a case-file on it, and more importantly why is it restricted?
But indeed, it does work great as an epilogue as well.
Best comment suggestion👏
Just Amazing. Candela Obscura would make an amazing adult gothic horror cartoon. I hope we get a 4 Sided Dive episode or two for it as well.
Can you imagine Candela with Castlevania-style artwork and cinematography? OMG, it would be a FEAST for the eyes.
Cartoon yes but I want a live action now!
... or just a more traditional fireside chat format in which they just talk about the stuff that's actually interesting, in the ideal case moderated by a talkshow host who knows about the show, but isn't part of the cast, instead of playing jenga and answering randomly selected questions including stupid "evergreen questions" like what the favorite movie or icecream flavor of their characters would be.
Just here to mention the amazing attention to detail in their costumes and make-up!
One of the best episodes of anything ever. I never thought I'd see a GM capable of being quite as diabolical as Brennan is in the role, but there's Spenser right there, and it's incredible.
Loved when Brennan had his “really Spenser?!” moments where even he was caught out by where events went. Game recognizing game.
I love everything Spenser GMs
"I don't know how to be around things that are soft and growing anymore." That line kills me.
Brennan “zipping” out and back into Sean is the FUNNIEST part of this entire episode
Something tells me that from here on out, *NO* Critter is going to be able to hear "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" without absolutely CRINGING.
after i finished this episode i went to my roomate and explained to him i NEVER EVER want to hear take me out to the ball game again. its become the antithesis of horror to me XD
just a heads up: the antithesis of horror would be the opposite of horror. ;) Maybe you were thinking of epitome?@@PuppetsScorn
You mean CRYING???? 😂

A big round of applause to Zehra! She was so good. Some of my favorite scenes were with her and Luis. They had wonderful chemistry together.
She took to actual play like a duck to water.

Luis, as usual, killed it!
Marisha playing an old lady who has seen the devastation of war. Did such a great job. She was funny when she needed to be dramatic at the right moments.

Really great job all around.

Brennan is a total delight this episode
Loved this chapter. I was wondering the whole time whether had Sean was compromised or replaced. Brennan did such a job conveying a person that must have been so broken to trade in his best friend.

How has Luis not yet been in any D20 projects as a guest for a side quest? Bro's making me bawl my eyes out and has insane chemistry with Brennan.
He stars in calamity. Which is ran by brennan
I hope the Candela videos don't completely stop after the game's full release, I'd love it if they brought it back once a year to lead up to Halloween, or who knows what
Yeah, it's a shame that most Critters ignore non-campaign content. I mean, can't blame them considering how long main CR episodes are, yet still...
2:17:15 i can't remember the last time i felt bamboozled like this watching CR. Bravo Spenser, what an absolutely WILD moment
EXU Calamity
Oh my god, the whole scene starting at an hour and a half in... i got goosebumps. Dear lord what a fucking episode. Not done yet but just this far into it i am blown away. WHAT A GREAT SERIES!!
even when Brennan's not the GM he still finds a way to be fucking evil wtf 😭
draw me in with cool as fuck scenes and then make me cry in the middle of the night over this goddamned betrayal and final moments of my boy
Literally every time Brennan is in a critical role live play I cry.
Look, I know this is practically a show in this format, but I DESPERATELY want to see this chapter specifically made into a feature film.
Yyyyes! Imagine the basement scene with Sean as a scene. Absolutely incredible
@@munchkin5679 That was exactly the part where I had that thought. This entire chapter would just be absolute gold.
Aw the voice breaking at "I'm used to somebody taking point" killed me
I don't think I've ever seen so many jaw drops from Brennan....even when Beardsley is in play.
This is going to be a wild ride ☠
I watched it live and personally think Needle & Thread could have profited from a 4th episode. The ending felt a bit rushed (despite the 6 hour run time) and the circle could have used a break.
But I have to say I really enjoyed this circle and must say Spencer is a great GM. Hopefully he´ll be back soon
Just hope Chapter 3 is finally Taliesin as a GM that would be great since it fits his GM style really well
I know they’re giving us a showcase of their game so I don’t mind but I really enjoy the game system and think a longer series would be a lot more impactful.
Tiny spoiler:
I agree about a 4th episode, or at least I think Spenser could've spent a little more time on the aftermath part of the storytelling, as I feel we didn't really get a chance to see the circle come back together and recoup and mourn the losses of Sean and Marion.
That being said you know the cast will never forget that sessions
Brennan Lee Mulligan, man...dude wrote us an entire Disney sports movie, played all three starring roles in it, then played it for us in three minutes. Just as *setup*. I am, as always, amazed by his genius.
The beat up makeup really makes Sean/Brennan look like such a lost lil boy.
Brennan has a charisma of 30, oh my goodness, what a performance.
Spenser Starke's gamerunning has been INCREDIBLE to watch throughout this arc. I hope to see more of him
can we talk about the soundtrack i feel like we are not talking about the soundtrack enough. the lullaby of the lost peaking through around 5:41:40, in the moments of silence? cherry on top
I am crying so hard. Excellent work everyone. This was an exceptional story. Thanks to everyone that worked on this and contributed. Phenomenal 🎉
The unzipping of Sean to bargain for the cool moment is so good
brennan just eating a snack during auntie bea tryna get away at ms. morales’ apartment … so funny
He is just a little podling. He needs his snacks! :D
If Brennan ain't snacking, Brennan ain't playing.
Well...I'l never be able to listen to "Take me out to the ballgame" again without crying.
2:23:54 they literally Flex Sealed Brennan’s character to keep him alive, amazing
Boy, the intro reflecting the shit that happened last time and giving us all a very, very worrying preview of things to come was perfect
I just love how Zehra describes emotions and physical effects. I want her to read books to me lol.
