Very interesting thoughts, thank you for sharing. I first came to Glastonbury 15 years ago, my last trip was in early 2020. I was very surprised how much the shops have changed! 15 years ago there was a variety of different shops and all sorts of spirituality present. Now it's the same shops all over. Very commercial and strangely empty. It saddens me.
Now my focus will stay wholly on the landscape and the leylines, the energy. In this spirit Glastonbury will always be a magical place and a sanctuary. 💚

Yes, I completely agree. It's an unequal blend of capitalised-mainstream and it's rich history. I'll definitely make time to hide away in the Abbey grounds when I'm next there xx

I have a friend who has lived and worked in Glastonbury, and they reported a tension in the town between the normies, the spiritual, the tourists, and the visitors to that farm for that festival. Your advice to go in the "off" season is good, because the local shops will appreciate your custom more too.

It's such a beautiful town, and more than that, the journey through the south-west countryside of rolling green landscape and winding roads to get there feels significant also. But yes, I'd say the tension you talk about is running much closer to the surface x
