The Endless Adventure just to let you know drinking 1 pint and driving is Breaking the law in the uk
I have to say that people do drive fast at Cheddar Gorge bc my foot nearly got run over when I was on the path
Thank God for people like you! You really dispel the 'ignorant Americans' myth. There seems to be a particular myth that Americans come here to the UK and don't get farther than London. (and unfortunately some videos show this). Thank you for showing our lovely places outside the capital. I look forward to your coming to Birmingham, which all the Birminghams in the USA were named after.
Relax
A lovely hike, but do, please, try it again in late spring or early summer. If you liked it now, you'll be blown away by how beautiful England can be in April-May-June! And you missed a trick - you didn't visit the caves!
We know! We'll definitely have to go back for the caves. And we're hoping to come back to England this spring to take advantage of the lovely weather :)
Greetings from Somerset, UK!Cheddar is my home village, and it was interesting to see your take on it. People who have remarked about the 'circular lake' are right, it's a reservoir, built in the 1930s and both my grandfathers worked on it! If you come here again, visit the village and see our 500-year old market cross and the remains of the 'palace' where Saxon kings visited and held court over 1000 years ago. And yes, as other people have said - try the farmhouse cider.
Wales , is very rural,.lots of vales and hills, lovely countryside, unspoilt, winding roads ,farm houses , and sheep...this couple are having a healthy, interesting time.
glad you love my country , so many wonderful places .you should try the east coast Suffolk/Norfolk cromer and southwold to particular amazing places
the "thick blankets" on the bed are duvets :)
You beat me to it.
Or Continental quilt.
Granny said they were Eiderdowns!
james pasifull They were something different. As far as I know they were quite thin padding (maybe not even a centimetre thick?).
Eiderdowns were usually put on top of the top sheet . God, sheets and blankets- what a bind
I did this back in Early October with my husband and our dog and it was pretty muddy then! The lake you saw was actually Cheddar reservoir I also walked around that with my husband and dog! When you go on holiday with your dog most days are spent walking😂😂
How cool! We always love seeing all the dogs on trails in England. They're always the happiest little things 🐶
Have to say I think these videos are excellent. You always seem to be willing to try different, local, foods and appreciate local history. Proper tourists.
The fireplace that have seats inside them are called Inglenook fireplaces.
Well what a charming name! We love inglenook fireplaces :)
ha ha thats the spirit now you know why we love are pubs in england
the beer dance was pretty entertaining made me smile
So glad you like our country you guys, your vlogs are amazing, ✌️💕🇬🇧
The lake is what's left behind from the only opencast cheddar mine in the world , now cheese comes from the deep mines in North Wales and is imported . That's why we had to do Brexit because the EU wanted the name changed to Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch cheese . 😋😋
Andy Ward I believe Welsh cheese has to be mined very caerphilly!
seanmorris Nice one...😁😁😁
ROFL! Damn those Welsh names!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Andy Ward what a load of crap Andy. We have 2 opencast cheese mines in Yorkshire and one deep mine just outside Wakefield where you can visit the cheese face yourself. Sadly, Thatcher decimated the northern cheese industry, there are still brothers that don't speak after the mature cheddar strikes. But the industry is surviving, just. Say no to cheese spread people!
I'm sure the lake is a reservoir :)
From Wikipedia Cheddar Reservoir is an artificial reservoir in Somerset, England, operated by Bristol Water. Dating from the 1930s it has a capacity of 135 million gallons. The reservoir is supplied with water taken from the Cheddar Yeo river in Cheddar Gorge
corrrect
@@Westcountrynordic Also known as Axbridge Reservoir.
@@Westcountrynordic long walk around lol takes an hour
I hope you got some sweet hiking boots for Christmas girlfriend!!😆 -Ash
Yes! They were the first things I grabbed when we got back home 😂
If u guys come across a pub called the slaughtered lamb....turn around...or at the very least...dont ask wat the sign in the wall is!
Tan Hill Pub the highest in England.
😂😂😂😂😂
Someone's been watching a Yank Werewolf in London village.
"Fork lyrk yoo shuddn come 'roun theze parts. Stick t' rords and beware o' moonlite!" (sic)
X¬D
Keep to the path
I went to cheddar about a year and a half ago and it was great! You should’ve gone to goughs cave. Down that street are some lovely cafes and ice cream shops which are lovely in the summer. And the coolness of the cave really cools you down in the summer heat :) it’s a lovely scenic place ! There is also a cheese factory where you see how cheeses are made and hey make weird flavour cheeses like bacon cheese and you can try them out and buy big chunks!
Love your vlogs. You should definitely go to Dorset when you can. There's so much to see and do there. Keep up the great work
Love watching your videos, guys, especially the UK ones. Don't know what you guys' history is, but your vlogs are so natural, and the genuine enthusiasm comes across really well. Good luck in all your travels. Yours, one (somewhat jealous) viewer 👍
My daughter was conceived at cheddar gorge, loads of fun (the place I mean, of course) 😂
When you try and look out for your house😂
You made that joke about cheddar cheese at the beginning, but did you realise that cheddar cheese actually comes from there originally. The cheese was named after the town.
planningto woo love Cheddar
And the caves below are filled with cheddar!
And cheese isn't Cheddar unless it is made there.
Richard Bilton Not so. Cheddar (the cheese, not the town) does not benefit from protected designation of origin status meaning anyone, anywhere can make cheddar cheese.
That dinner looked terrific and so healthy!😛
Your enthusiasm is so infectious, love it! Another great vid :)
🙌 thanks so much!
Obviously--like most places in Britain, visiting in Summer is preferable, if possible. It allows a more holiday feel to these places ( crowded ,sure) but more jolly. Cheddar Caves have many pre-history things to see, and is ideal when the weather is bad. A drive down or up the Gorge gives a great view of the craggy cliffs high above,( but not for a driver) where many climbing clubs are active. There is a great flight over the cliffs by drone, on You Tube
Next time you visit Cheddar, not only check out the village and the caves itself, they are just as breathtaking as the views too
Im not a very fit person and walking up there absolutely killed me, only managed to do half of it, i still felt really good after doing it and proud of myself for managing to do some of it
Nice One - Get to Durdle Door in Dorset on the south coast
The Milky coffees looked superb 😋
That dancing in the car ... LOL :) Agree with the pillow comment ... HATE the fat pillows which leave you semi paralysed the next morning!
it's crazy how your body can change temp so fast with a little exercise or increased heart rate! Living in Canada has been an interesting learning experience over the last few years :D
Great vlog. Was a shame you didn’t have the time to go into the caves in cheddar too, but that walk is great though. Out of the 2 if I had to choose I’d do the walk 👍
i was just thinking the same thing about the caves, but we are talking about 30 years ago in my case
About 20 years ago for me :)
That huge thick blanket is a Duvet, "Doovay", also called a 'Continental quilt' or just 'quilt' for short.
you guys missed the caves in cheddar gorge!! which is equally as amazing!!
Ahh I really like Cheddar gorge. I used to commute through it and it was always so nice early in the morning - always had to watch out for wandering sheep! Next time you are in the Cheddar/Bath area you should go to Glastonbury and climb the Tor. I think you'd enjoy the quirky town too. It's quite a fun little place to explore.
If you have never been to cheeder gorge I highly recommend it, its an amazing sight lovely to drive through especially in a convertible or a moterbike there is a small array of shops at the bottom a cafe and a pub bbut there nothing, special
how are you so happy?, it's winter in England.
The lake is a reservoir slowly filtering water 😊 I think it's owned by wessex water. Great vlog, we love Cheddar Gorge! It's great with a drone too if you have the opportunity to fly.
You guys are the best. Happy New Year !! Beer Dance, wearing the wrong shoe , freezing for an adventure, all things I've done too.
Great vid. The channel's back to sorta living up to its name. Lately it's been more like "Endless Eating". ;) Though both of you need some proper adventuring shoes.
Loved the gonna get some beer rave, lol
I live about ten minutes from Cheddar....beautiful area
Awesome adventure guys! Thanks for sharing it with us! Adventure On :)
Woo! Glad to have you hiking along with us :D
Before ww2 my father rode his bike down the gorge and crashed in horse shoe bend and broke the frame of his father bicycle. He got a blacksmith to repairit, I camped at Cheddar many time in the 50s 60s. Real draught cider come from Somerset, I know because my mum got drunk on a couple of glass fulls.
wrong footware for that walk
Happy New Year Folks, hope the year ahead is filled with more awesome adventures and only good luck and success. Safe travels. XD
Lol, when I saw the graphic for Cheddar Gorge pop up I for a fleeting moment hoped it was a gorge filled with cheese, or at least cheese vendors. Nice view though. Allison, I love your penguin gloves, they are super cute.
Right?! That would have been a most magical hike 🧀😂 and thanks! I got them from Primark, I believe :)
missed Jacob's Ladder
They have a staircase up that Gorge and when I was younger for exercise I used to run up the stairs to the top and back I was much fitter then NZ couldn't do it now was so worth it though several hundred stairs though
Adam Fairhurst yeah that’s called Jacobs Ladder
What camera and recording kit do you use for these videos and your instagram? If you could share that.
The big water "circle" is called blagdon lake, and near there is the Wessex water plant. Glad your in the area where I live. So. Pretty... I'm in weston-super-mare btw. You may have Sen signs xx
One of my best experiences was caving at Cheddar gorge it was beautiful and how's this for cool they found a mummified body that had been there for hundreds of years and after dna testing a direct descendant was found still teaching in Cheddar which is crazy considering how small a village Cheddar is
I absolutely love your videos 😎
You guys need to visit #Dartmoor in Devon. It’s totally lush and the views are spectacular. If you get here let me know and I will treat you to dinner.
Thanks so much for the offer, Ash! Hopefully we can visit soon :)
- That looked fun. I need to go on another big hike again... 🤔
Do it! 🗻
No Wookey hole caves? They have a ton of Cave aged cheese down there maturing, and there is always the local cider too.
We'll definitely have to go back for that cheese 😍
www.wookey.co.uk/cave-aged-cheese/
Guys, December in England in the countryside hiking in a gorge and you have canvas shoes on your feet? Rookie mistake lol.
Just found your channel and have been binge watching for an hour, very nice vids guys, well done.
Good call Allison on the real ale. I love Guinness but English real ale is the very best.
Great vlog as always. You guys should check out ingleton falls. It's up north near the Lake District. It's about a 3-4 hour hike with about 6 or 7 cool waterfalls along the way. Keep up the good work guys!
korma is a coconut mild curry sauce ,so i suppose the dish is a " sauteed vegetable noodles in coconut mild curry sauce ? " :D
I think the circular lake is called Blagdon ?
Thank you for the hard work on this. Suggest you using climbing sticks next time for slippery slope particularly going down to protect your knees.
☝️ great suggestion! We actually just looked into getting some. It'd definitely be nice to not slide around as much 😂
your wife Allison is enchanting.
Bit late in the day for this comment I know, but if you visit the UK again on your travels please visit the South Downs in Sussex. They are beautiful. Very good for walking. Brighton would be a good place to starting point
Wowww nice hiking !!! 👍
Don't get nicked for drink driving Eric
TheBill9999 Just as well it's not Scotland, that 1 pint would have put him over the limit most likely!
That's right mate.
British beer generally has a higher alcohol content than American, too.
Hi 'The endless Adventure'
2 questions... 1) Where do you stand on English Cheeses compared to french cheeses, and 2) You drink a lot of tea; is there any relation between your love of tea and the initials of 'The Endless Adventure'?
Oh... and please come to Shrewsbury! Beautiful station, beautiful castle, beautiful museums, churches, historic sites, pubs etc.
Legendary location ❤️
This view is absolutely gorgeous!! Loving it, you two🤓🤘🏻Happy holidays and I wish you many memorable journeys in the new year😘😘
Thanks Kerrie! Happy holidays to you as well 💗
It sounds like both of you have the same idea about hiking as me, park the car and walk in a direction that looks interesting. You do need a pair of leather boots in the UK Allison (especially in the winter). I know from experience canvas shoes are useless in the wet and mud. Go into a shop and buy a pair of boots, your feet will thank you :-)
Alison buy a pair of Brashers, the most comfortable walking shoes going or boots id need be
Thank you so much for all the vlogs, happy new year to you both xx
Great video again guys! If in cheddar you kind of have to try the cheese! After all, it's world famous!
The moves I do when I’m about to have my beer :,)
Wookey caves is a must if your in cheddar adventurers 👍
Next time!
You should check out the north york moors in late autumn, really beautiful.
Great video :) full support
I LOVE YOUR VLOGS
Thanks!!
awesome video guys fantastic views from there :))
Would love to see you guys try out the centuries old hot Roman baths/spas that Bath is famous for!
So cool you came to my home town!! Love your videos :) the lake you saw is actually a reservoir - provides water for the surrounding area. Also the pub you went to is right by my house! If you’re ever back in the area you definitely need go for a cream tea, Cheddar has some of the best 👌 happy adventuring!
We're always down for a delicious cream tea! Thanks for the info and tip :D Hopefully we'll be back to explore more soon!
Cheddar is next junction down from me on the M5, hope to meet you guys one day for a Guinness 😉🍺 Somerset looks as bleak on your video as it is in real life 😂
seindfeld and bed is there anything better?
Another great video...thanks! Suggestion for you guys since you're coffee/latte lovers...tiny packable battery milk frother. The size of a penlight so very easy to pack. You can froth the milk right in your mug (you can microwave or heat the milk with any means). Do a search on Amazon for "frother" and a bit down the page should be Amazon's Choice (1Easylife H422...). Looks bigger online than it is. I have absolutely no affiliation with them, but I own the device and it's a quick, cheap, easy solution to frothing milk for great coffee drinks and thought you guys might find it useful! Cheers!
☝️ this is a game changer. Thanks so much for the suggestion!
Thank you for another sweet Vlog. Now I want to visit that area! What a cool hike. I love the cows.
Thanks for coming along with us! Hopefully you get to visit Cheddar. It was such a fun hike and charming town!
Village
Defo going to try that recipe with veg and noodles with Korma sauce cheers
Stunning footage
I live very close to Cheddar! The cheese shops are fab.
beautiful views
"All the pubs have their own history." Of course.
I love you guys! Loving your tour of Great Britain. I live near Whitby and you missed some amazing places nearby. Hope you come back! x
Clare John hi Clare, yep, i agree :)
We'll definitely be back. Hopefully with some warmer weather and waterproof gear :)
You should have gone in the caves where they mature Cheddar.
Have you noticed we call zucchini 'courgette'? You eat so many vegetables that have different names in the US, you should make a video about it, I bet a lot of people don't know. Always surprises me to here Gordon Ramsey saying your American names for things, weird in British accent. great video again! Happy new year!
Cilantro. Eggplant. Weird right.
I really like cheddar gorge. Even though the first time I went there I had suffered from norovirus the day before, in which I'd ate a bunch of cheesy foods. Couldn't stand the smell of cheese while I was there haha.
The lake is chew valley
Happy New year to you both look forward to more vlogs in 2018 😊
Great vlog, I missed your hikes i hope you do them more often.
Us too! We're definitely planning to incorporate more nature into our upcoming adventures 😍
Please don't tell me you went all the way to Cheddar and didn't sample any cider...They sell them in big plastic milk bottles with names like leg bender...I'm sure you can imagine why! Love the vids by the way keep up the good work!
Yes - hiking boots is the answer.
Too funny!!!! The Korma Curry sauce you got there looks like the exact same brand I use! Beautiful shots, now I gotta remember to check Instagram (which I always forget!).
It was either Tesco or Waitrose brand sauce...either way, it was delicious! 👌 Glad you enjoyed the day :)
