We are a dealer for SaniFlo and I stumbled on your channel trying to find some information for a customer. I have sold a few units over the past 9 years but this is the first time I have ever seen it installed, you have just expanded my knowledge and I feel a whole lot more confident. Thank you ......... And now off to binge watch your videos :)

Great job acknowledging your mistake and correcting it. I also like how you kept the mistake in the video and didn't just replace it with the correct version. Seeing a mistake being done is easier to learn exactly why it's the wrong way, additionally it was great to see the wiring being done. Cheers!

I’m not doing a basement bathroom and I don’t have a septic tank. That said, for the past couple of years I always find it helpful to pull up a chair and learn something new from the amazing “Dr.” Thorman. He delights in his chosen field and delights people like me all over the world. Thank you Jeff, from Grantsville, Utah, USA.

Having a 30' static head lift capability is impressive. I'm shopping around because our son needs to put a shower and toilet in his basement, and the main drain is 4' off the floor. This is looking like a strong candidate for that situation. I would like to install a sump-style tub below the slab, so the large toilet pipe could feed down into it. The shower could go right in the side, but I see the large fitting is on top, so that's a challenge. Thanks for sharing, I've subbed. I like your presentation style, and I wish you all the best!

Glad I waited to comment after finishing the video. Was gonna say something about the 14/2 not being enough & needing a 12/2 wire in that unit. But, you got it sorted & it’s cool that you left the “mistake” in the vid. You could have edited that out in post to make it appear was one perfect vid......awesome you didn’t. Everyone makes mistakes, it’s how you fix them that counts😉
Have been enjoying this series & it’s cool to see you transform your house into something magical that you & your family have done yourselves.
    Cheers✌🏼

Home RenoVision DIY Also was thinking when you were wiring up the unit & were using the 14/2....I was like cool, didn’t know a unit like that exists & how great that would be on some “problem installs”. But, you explained everything well in the vid, & again, it’s cool that you guys leave EVERYTHING in regardless of right/wrong AND fix the stuff if you are wrong. That, just goes to show how “human” you are; along w/ showing us your work ethic/morals etc....👍🏻👍🏻

    Top job, mate...
Message to your viewers... He has the correct pitch... Over pitch ( > 1/4" over 1' ) is actually just as bad as under pitch ( < 1/8" over 1' ). The problem with over pitch is that the water drains too quickly leaving the solids behind, which invariably dry to the pipe creating a blockage you make actually have to cut out...
...Just say no to over pitched pipes.

I’m putting a master suite at the far end of our home that is 68 feet from the main septic line. I either have to have a long run of 3” pipe that would be 1/8” drop per foot, which concerns me of clogs with that long run, or I do this Saniflo system. These are great alternatives to digging a pit if you cant run underground plumbing in your basement due to the sewer line being too high although they do fail prematurely occasionally from just normal usage (even without throwing things you shouldn't in there). I just had to replace my sanibest pro last week, only 5 years old. luckily it wasnt a messy failure i caught it quick, but the motor has just decided to die out on me. I just ordered the whole replacement tank which about about $1000 instead since the pump replacement was $799

i watched this video because my family lives in a 4 bdroom 1 bath house with 6 people. Im looking for a way to add a second toilet to the house without having to do a full addition of another bathroom or apply for permits. something like this that flushed and ties into existing lines would be great but idk if the city would need a permit for it or not. Other wise a composting toilet is the only other thing i can think of but really dont want to have to deal with.

I was planning on putting one of these in a small cubby off the kitchen on the main floor as a half bath. There's not good access to the main in the basement unless I'm banging my head into the drain every time I'm walking to the basement. There is however access to a smaller sewer pipe that ties to the main which this toilet would be sharing this with the kitchen sink drain..wonder if that would be code.

Oh I wish you were my family member or very good friend, I am trying to add a bathroom in the basement of my condo and the prices are ridiculous and I was told I would have to get one of those pump things.

Jeff, for maintenance you should put shut offs on all intakes and outtake (no need for the dedicated vent, and now folks you know why it's dedicated). In case of service you can shut the flow of waste off and service the unit, SaniFlo doesn't show it. The written instructions mentions a shut off valve for the outtakes, but some of the pictures for the unit show shut offs on intakes as well. As for giving up a clean out, I wouldn't suggest that either as putting in a dedicate spot for the drain would of saved a clean out and taken about the same time. SaniFlo also makes stuff for marine applications, so I'm familiar with the name.

I have a single story house built in the 60's. Its master bedroom is 27x25... the bathroom is 6x4 and a shower that is maybe 3x3. I don't want to jackhammer a bunch of lines but I'm also in california.... :( so idk what the code is? I'm a dyi guy but this feels like I can manage this. Of all the systems they have i need. Toilet, shower, and duel sinks

I was concerned about hi jacking the clean-out at first when I watched you make the connection. seems you were OK. Viewers should know codes require a clean-out at a certain "developed length". If you didn't have another clean-out that met your code, add another wye at the connection and proceed. Easy! Nice Video, well made.

I'm looking at a system similar to this for replacing lines that are currently collapsed in my concrete basement floor. I want to rerun new lines for my kitchen, laundry and a wet bar and have it go to the main stack. The idea was to not have to bust up the finished basement to fix old clay tile pipes and have them go through my dropped ceiling in basement. I had a plumber come out and tell me that I would need to either bust up the floor and replace the existing lines to fix them or run lines through the ceiling connecting to a 3 inch main line that would hang low in the ceiling where it would be visible. A friend who is very diy savvy told me about these systems and said I should able to connect all the "New" lines to that system then run a smaller horizontal line to the main stack.

Hey, did you just convert that cleanout for the saniflo? What if you need that clean-out later on? I know you said these Saniflo's are incredible machines and can blow___ to China and back, but deleting the clean-out is giving alot of faith in these machines... Also, Are you going to add some lock nuts to the electric boxes for the wires coming into it? You're blowing my mind with this video.

We are wanting to put a bathroom in our basement and we are planning to run a sink and a shower to the unit. For occasional use and for when guests come over. Not adding to the number of people in the home.

Pretty sure the alarm would be better to put it in the living area so you know something is wrong before it backs up into living area

LOL, no worries, the alarm is more than adequate for notification. Cheers! The alarm sounds when 1 motor has a problem. in that case the unit automatically switches to the second motor which operates independently. Cheers!

Nice video. One question... everything I've seen on Saniflo toilet installs (Saniplus, Saniaccess, Sanibest) tells you to avoid hard 90's for the discharge pipe. They all suggest "sweeping" turns using 2 45's. Curious if this unit is different than the ones directly connected to the toilets?
