Brilliant!! Thank you, this is exactly the video I needed. Finally some real information I can use with my first build using this Mother Board with the 6800k.

I was having a lot of problems with booting and finally isolated it that my 3200mhz rated memory needed to run a bit slower to accommodate the overclock. Hoping this helps anyone trying to figure this out and extract as much as they can from their aging system.

@@kountheaim Note that, even having the same motherboard and processor, the results might be different because each peace of silicon have it limits. Your processor might achieve the same or even better configurations with lower temperatures, or not. The important thing to do is try with a lower clock and stress the computer and check your temperatures. Then work your way up until you hit temperatures as high as you would like to go. You always need to check if the overclock is stable too. It is not easy, but after some testing and studying, you can get there. Just be careful, you can burn your processor if not done right. I burned a 6950x once. :X

A little voltage seems to go a very long way. I increased my VCORE to only 1.21 and its now running for 1 hour at a temp of 84C and is now set to 4.2mHZ. I am very happy. Don't think I will push this any further. I also set a -3 for the more intense avx which I will test next but I am happy that I finally hit 4.2 and the temp at 100% load is no more than 84 and appears stable.

I have this board, it's great, except for ASUS customer service which is garbage. They are so slow to release up to date drivers. The SupremeFX HiFi DAC wasn't even working in Windows 10 until last week. I sent them a very angry email about this. One weird thing is that the protective plastic film over the IO ports was impossible to remove.

I have test it with RealBench 2.43 (one hour Duration) if i put less voltage, it goes BSOD. My cooler is arctic liquid freezer 240. Temperature with 4,2ghz and 1.35v. are between 60 - 70 C with RealBench one hour stress tess. Is it safe to use 1.35v 24/7 ? Is there something to do with this or do i just have very poor processor? :(

Thank you in advance!

All motherboards should come without I/O shield separate nowadays, biggest pain when putting together a new PC!
Great and informative video. First time I heard of the new Intel AVX settings.
I"m guessing all them cores making it run warm compared to my older 4930K Ivy-e 6 core even though it's only 14nm and should run cooler. Even under load haven't seen my CPU go over 60 and usually stays in 30's.
Looks like a sweet and solid mobo but expect nothing less from an Asus Rampage board;that's all I've been using for years for solid overclocks!

    1. What case would you recommend?
    2. What would be the top power supply to use with this set?
    3. What would be a top Fan to maintain good temperatures?
    4. Can this motherboard can handle more multiple video card like the PNY GeForce GTX 1080?
    5. I'm planing on getting G.SKILL TridentZ Series 64GB (4 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4 would the overclocking process be the same?

Hey :) 1. case not sure. That's more a thing of personal preference. I like most phanteks, in win and lian li cases. 2. Power supplies: Super Flower, Corsair, Seasonic. Total power depends on the rest of the components. 4- Yes it can handle multiple cards without problems :) 5. Yes that's also no problem. I already used 8x16 GB on this board and could load XMP without problems (3000 MHz)

Fantastic Video. I used your settings on my i7 6900K in a Rampage V Edition 10 Motherboard with G.SKILL TridentZ Series 32GB (4x8GB) 288-Pin SDRAM DDR4 3200. Your settings allowed me to get the full 3200 speed of my Ram and a stable OC of 4 Ghz.
I did notice a few strange things. My windows 10 Pro would not blank my screen logged in after a few minutes. Also the stress tests passed but on start up a few times windows hung. I went back to default settings and the monitor power off returned to proper operation and the windows hanging stopped.
It appears that overclocking (even if it passes the stress test) can cause software anomolies. Any suggestions on what I should try to make it more stable?
    Thanks your video was great.

Looking for some advice, did this exact overclock almost 2 years ago and got 4GHZ and was happy (thank you), I have not played around with anything and figured a day or two that i should try to overclock it a little bit more and perhaps get a better water cooler just for the sake of it.
However i before i did anything i went it to CPU-Z just to verify my clock and noticed that it was now at 3.5GHZ with a 35 multiplier WTF?
I took a look in about section in CPU-Z and clicked clock there it showed only 1 core on 4ghz.
In windows power management it is set to Performance and i have double check everything i could think of.
I have rested CMOS, redone the clock several times to no anvil. The Multiplier is stuck on 35 and 3.5ghz in CPU-Z and it is impossible to get it back to its original 4ghz with 40 multiplier.
Any suggestion as to what could have happened?

So I have almost the exact same setup. Before I adjusted anything, it was reading 1200 mhz. Once I set everything like you, it was reading 4000 mhz. I loaded up the latest version of prime95 and it dropped to 3700 and temps never got above 73. However, once I shut it down, it instantly dropped back to 1200mhz. I saw that yours jumped right back to 4000. Do you have any idea what I am doing wrong. I am not an enthusiast, but need as much power as possible to shave some time off a process I am doing that is CPU intensive, and time sensitive.

    • @Chrisabled

+der8auer ...

    • @der8auer
      @der8auer  8 лет назад

Take security control of the file mcupdate_GenuineIntel.dll and then disable it by renaming it mcupdate_GenuineIntel.dll.disabled.

I had to fill it just a bit to get it about 1cm upper than the incomin water tube every 2 or 3 weeks or it gets noisy bcs of the water level geting low it starts to making bubble and so much noise. Is it normal and the water cooling system should be filled in this short period of time?! I did t even overclocked my 6950x cpu that much just to 3.81 and a 560x radiator with 4 140 fans working just for the cpu!

I increased the 40 to 4.1 and its been running for 2 hours max temperature is 82.0 C and stable. I was hoping to go to 4.2 but when I increase my core voltage to 1.25 or 1.27 the temperature climbs to 96 C and it crashes.
Probably not much of a difference between 4.1 and 4.2 but would like to go to 4.2 if possible.
    Thanks

    • @der8auer

    • @jaimem1788

Yup most advanced boards like Asus Rampage require at least some basic tweaking in BIOS since stuff like XMP never works at speeds as advertised. At least I haven't seen it. That's why you save a known stable baseline profile like was shown in this video and then can start tweaking more extreme overclocks from there!

I HAVE THE SAME SPECS 95% the same... AND THIS DOES NOT WORK... PLZ HELP ME. - posted 10.10.19
It hangs and never posts... then I wait and wait to see if the CPU will OVERCLOCK to 4GHZ, when it fails, I get the "OVERCLOCKING FAILED!" message. And I have to press F1 for setup, where all my previous settings are now back to default, ram is 2133 and my 6950X is at 3000MHz, NOT the 4.0Ghz I wanted with the XMP 1 (profile)... help!
    More Info:
I have the same specs with the 6950x... have the corsair dominator quad channel 3333 8gb x 8 =64gb of it... I put in the EXACT settings and the computer restarts-COLD RESTART-and when it does start up, the code in the corner stays at " 6d " -at least I think that's it. I have no idea what that means, it cycles from that to 60 and back to that 6d or is it saying 'bd'... not sure what the code is... JUST KNOW IT DOESN'T WORK. There is one yellow led lit up and blinking next to the code, it is like it wants to start up but something is stopping it and it repeats the cycle of the codes going from '60-69' or' 60-bd' or '60-6d'... Once it does that for a while, the computer completely restarts and loads the old settings.
Now I have BIOS 0903... do I have to upgrade to have it working?
ANYONE HERE? HELP ME PLZ! I WANT the hardware to run to get the money out of what I spent for it...bid deal to me. Thank you KINDLY. I APPRECIATE ANY FUTURE HELP.
1 idea, instead of 8 sticks of RAM, should I just use 4 and put them in only 1 quad channel slots? 8gb x 4 instead of 8gb x 8... less memory but it might do something... NOT SURE... HELP OB1... ANYONE.

Ah it may be a bit late but looks like that is a RAM issue. First try updating your bios and see if the error code is the same, and if that doesnt work try turning off xmp and try the 4ghz clock. That's it really the error code is on about DXE initialization which means its trying to recognize your ram which could lead to why your xmp profiles aren't functioning properly
