    FURTHER NOTES Still all good! Just kicking myself as I burned a hole in the Klim pants when I was trapped under a Honda CRF450RX for 20 seconds. It doesn't have a heat shield and burned it's way through the textile. Doh!

    I have two pairs of Mojave pants. One in and one over the boot. Countless falls, countless events and they are still together. The leather on the inside of the leg is used to avoid melting issues on exhaust pipes that vinyl will experience. The only pants I will ever use. Really like my Klim Carbon helmet also. A full pound lighter than my HJC helmets! Gaerne SG 12’s. Love my new red ones to match my 2023 Beta 300RR. Great boots! After years of used boots off Kijiji I splurged on them. Couldn’t be happier.

      Love the Gaerne boots! Pretty much everyone I know wears them. 👍 Good to hear you like the Klim Carbon helmet, they seemed to have a few issues in the early days so I looked elsewhere. Currently rocking an Arai XD4 which is a bit heavy... 😢

      You’re dressed like me, ITB & OTB Mojave with the F5 lid & SG12’s on my feet.
      I run the Dakar series when it gets colder.
      Excellent gear, plenty of cuts/abrasions that also drew blood but no real damage other than blood stains.
      I do wish their Dakar & Mojave series pants had more than two buttons at the top of the zippered fly. Handful of races I’ve had both buttons pop loose. Could use a Velcro belt at the fly like they use on the sides.

    I rode with Klim gear for years but have moved on to Leatt. The XC lite pants and jerseys were not the most durable, but not bad. The XC lite gloves however, were constantly coming apart at the fingers. The Mojave line is very durable but I did not find them comfortable or breathable enough. I'd rather replace more comfortable/breathable gear every year or two than ride in gear I'm not comfortable or too hot in. It's also frustrating that the XC Lite, Mojave, and Dakar all fit completely differently when you buy the same sizes in all three lines.

    • @connorp1513
      @connorp1513 3 месяца назад

      What Leatt jersey have you got? Looking at maybe a 4.5 jersey but not sure how durable

  • @pjakszentis

    Can only endorse your praise on the Mojave pants and jerseys.
    My ITB Mojave is no more than 8 years in use, looks a little used, but no functional damages so far.
    I managed to get a hole in the Mojave jersey, but that was brute force.
    In summer the Mojave pants and an XC jersey are my favorites since years.
    The Dakar jacket is my favorite for adventure riding.
    Not to forget the SG12.
    Apparently, quality pays off. For KLIM and their ever growing client base.

      In the long run the Klim gear does seem to eventually become really good value. I'm always keen to hear from riders who disagree though. So many brands become very popular then start to increase profits and drop quality. I hope Klim doesn't go down that path.

  • @xRotivx
    @xRotivx 4 месяца назад +2

    This is exactly my setup for some years now. Great choice, never failed, the quality is top notch. Riders in my group are always complaining about tearing this our that on their pants/jersey, although they always go for the cheap stuff. With this stuff you can definitely see a quality/durability difference. And the pockets, big and handy with good design.

    Klim Mojave gear is all I will buy since getting turned onto the brand several years ago. I'm routinely impressed and blown away with just how durable and lasting it is. As long as they keep up their quality I will never look to another brand.

    • @crosstrainingenduro
      @crosstrainingenduro  4 месяца назад +1

      Same here, I'll stick with their gear as long as they don't drop the quality. The orginal mormon owners sold the business to Polaris a few years back and I thought they might drop quality to increase profit but it hasn't happened.... yet.

    Very interesting video.
    I'm a budget rider so I've always bought from the close-outs and left overs sections. I bought the Klim Mojave pants because they were half price, (somewhere around $100) and I was willing to step up from my usual $65 pants. Yes, they are worth the money and are holding up great. I can't justify $200+ pants but I will certainly watch for more Klim closeout prices!

  • @WildAzzRacing

    The Klim Mohave jersey is the only jersey I have ever had that doesn't start getting shredded on the first ride. Where I live everything tries to grab you. Like you, I have one small hole on the sleeve where a tree grabbed me and almost pulled me off the bike. That is literally the only damage in over a year of riding. I will be buying again.

    I have been running Klim pants the last few seasons. I have a pair of Mojave and XC Lite pants . Both have held up really well. I tend to like the pants with leather inner knee panels because they seam to hold up better against the extra rubbing from knee braces better. I have had plenty of good spills and hang ups on cactuses and yucca plants and these pants have been the most durable I've owned so far, o I think the pricing is fine. Its definitely in the "buy it once" category. Some of the other brands I've owned sometimes only last half a season before they start to fall apart.

    • @crosstrainingenduro
      @crosstrainingenduro  4 месяца назад +1

      Years ago I bought some Klim gear but the leather knee parts cracked and developed holes within a year which turned me off the brand. But later on I read that it was an issue they had fixed. Zero issues with my adv and enduro pants nowadays.

  • @davidfindlay5432
    @davidfindlay5432 4 месяца назад +2

    It's a relentlessly similar result. That is you get what you pay for. I have multiple Klim products, and most of them are going on 5/6/7 years old. Clean them properly and they come up like new. I always argue "It's riding a bike!, You're going to get wet, sweaty. dirty, muddy and you will fall off" Pay the money, get the right gear, it'll last for years and be cheaper in the long term.

    • @crosstrainingenduro
      @crosstrainingenduro  4 месяца назад

      I think it's generally true! Of course you might find a brand that has dropped quality to maximise profits so their premium gear isn't so premium (brand name might start with 'F'). And sometimes a new brand might be dedicated to great quality but be quite cheap the first few years as they establish their reputation...

    If your still testing brands try Fasthouse Off-Road Sand Cat Pants in been extremely happy with them. Thick Cordura, the leather in between the legs is also of a pretty good material. I got them at $140 usd so that is definitely curving my bias but I'd buy them again at the current $170usd.

    As a woman, its really hard to find riding gear that fits me. I love the Klim woman's line. The XC lite line fits me so well and works excellent in the Florida summers. I'm personally also a huge fan of Klim's Dakar Pro gloves. My first pair lasted me 3 years (honestly I could have gotten more out of them, I just wanted a new pair!) and then, I just bought the same exact pair because they fit me so well compared to dozens of other gloves I've tried.

    I've never used Klim dirt bike gear but I do have a Klim parka and gloves from my snowmobile and snowbike days. My original parka was great until one ride when I seemed to keep getting wet, I contacted Klim and sent it to them and they determined the waterproof membrane had failed and sent me a new parka at no cost. My gloves have been great other than the velcro on one glove coming unstitched. Long story short I've been satisfied with my Klim gear and wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again.

    My best pants are Klim. I have had them for close to 10 years know and the leather is fine even though it is all scratched up. I like the over the boot because we have a lot of water crossings and it helps keep the water out better than in the boot.
    They are warmer than the lightweight mx pants which is nice in the cold months but the price you pay to have the durability.

    I have used Klim gear for the last several years, often looking like the
    “Klim Poster Child.” I’ve been very satisfied with it overall, but have noticed that updated products have been becoming incrementally inferior.
    The most extreme example in my experience has been the Outrider pants, a jean style riding pant. A pair from a few years ago are still holding up pretty well with understandable and appropriate signs of wear. I bought another pair last fall for a couple month long ride to Guatemala (from the US). The new pair were not nearly the garment: no abrasion resistant layers; outer material much lighter and fragile; lesser level protection armor. Yes it flowed air better, but I feel like my denim jeans would have been better protection except for the armor pockets.
    I still consider Klim gear when shopping but am looking harder at other brands.

    • @crosstrainingenduro
      @crosstrainingenduro  4 месяца назад +1

      Years back the Mormon owners sold to a huge conglomerate and my first thought was 'here comes the drop in quality!' A while back I posted on advrider asking if guys had noticed the newer gear was turning to crap and generally they said no, but... some were concerned that lighter materials were being used in some pants, jerseys and jackets. Klim was claiming they were every bit as tough but they were aiming for extra air flow. Riders were understandably sceptical. I'm definitely keeping an eye out for this in case Klim starts copying Fox's disastrous drop in quality and maximising profits.

    I think I've got 8 or 9 XC Lite pants. I ride ~300hrs a year. I swap gear after each full-day ride (5-6hrs). Have to have many sets, so I can do gear laundry every 2 weeks. I've tossed 2 pairs of those pants to date. I bushwack a lot. About 60hrs or so, and the rips and the missing chunks are too many. It only takes 3 washes for the knee leather patches to shrivel up. They stretch out once you start riding in them. But can be annoying to slide over the knee braces. The pant's lifespan is only behind Fly F16 (no mesh on these). Most of the damage to all of my pants is actually from footpeg snags. You can't blame the gear there. The only pants I've owned that had split seams, long before fabric tears, were Fox.
    I've got 2 Mojave jerseys. The fit is terrible. They're unreasonably wide with very long sleeves. Not sure who Klim had in mind for these. I've never seen a dentist with such proportions. Small Mojave fits like a Large Answer/Seven/Oneal. My perfect fit is a Medium from Fly or Seven.

      I use the air technique... just get up to 80kmh the final km back to the car so that the rushing air cleans the pants. 😂

    Why do you choose Mojave over Dakar?

    Should have mentioned the Klim non-In-the-boot pants are more expensive…

      But I don't think they do an over-the-boot style anymore, the last year it was offered appears to be 2022. If you can find a current verseion on the Klim website (with the higher price) let me know and I'll add it to the pinned first comment.

    Careful with klim, you'll spend more than you did on your bike.

      True dat. 😂 The enduro gear is about on par with the 'premium' stuff in other brands and sometimes cheaper. The adventure gear can go through the roof though.

    I have the Mojave over boot pants. Just starting the 4th riding season with them. Comfortable, good ventilation, they've lasted through everything, so far. The knee pad issue is real, I pulled mine and wore braces underneath. Unfortunately, I had to sell my dual sport last year😢. But I still wear the Mojave pants on my MT 09 SP.

    I got klim mojave 32 and xc lite 32 pants size. i cant bent my leg with my braces on iahve POD k 4 knee braces. there are no space in knee area in these pants at all. so i had to buy 34 size which has a little more room for my knee braces . but they are too big in waist area so i had to refund it, Its high quality gear no doubts but they fit not for everyone. klim has the worst pants fit ive ever nested. i got alpinestar fox and msr . they dont have such issue with knee area. So i had to keep looking for good vented gear and ended up buying MSR NXT air. i would say they are the same quality like klim XC lite. but has much more room in knee area i ride in them for 2 months already . zero issues.
    P'S' I have alpinestar pants and jersey and want to say that quality is shit but they fit perfectly. alpinestar has the biggest knee area for knee braces

      Bummer about the fit. 😢 It'll be interesting to see if others have the same issue. Given the cost, making sure my knee braces would fit was the first thing I checked.
