Mark. What a piece of kit! BMW know exactly what a car should be. The 5 Touring is the ONE to have. Shows up.all those silly trinket so-called " luxury" SUVs. In any format or spec the 5 Series Touring is simply superb! Touring be it 3 or 5 are excellent.
Is it just me or am I noticing more estates on the road Vs mid size SUVs? - Full electric doesn’t suit my needs so if I was spending €90k+ it would be a high spec 530e/550e Touring. Great review 🤘🏼
I really want an EV estate as have always liked the Skoda Combis, Audi Avants and BMW tourings. Glad they are now coming to market. The 570L boot isn’t that big compared to some other non-estate options though. My Hyundai has 527L and half the price also without being a cookie cutter SUV. Still would want this i5 though, Dad goals 😂
I completely agree with you. I own an X5 F15 M-sport package and purchased it new ten years ago. The new price at the time was approximately EUR 60,000, which is an acceptable price for me. The three liter diesel and general technical features have never let me down, the car is well maintained. And he is allowed another two years in the low emission zone here in Brussels and a few other cities. I went poking around in the showroom for a new model and the prices are + 100,000 EUR, which is outrageously expensive. Simply put, I don't think a car is worth it. And the design of other models... I have a divided opinion. The 5 series you have to get used to, but those boxes are getting bigger and bigger and... heavier. Where is that dynamic? I have two garage doors and now I have to conclude that it is better to buy another house than a car. Irony huh... Then let's look forward to an E300 e estate that offers all the good looks, but the interior is starting to disgust me because of the plastic. Everyone has their own opinion, right?
Once upon a time you could get a BMW 5 Series for around £40k, now they are asking over £80k for a basic car which isn't even a high performance model. I think there needs to be a correction in the cost of EV's if the manufacturers are going to be able to sell the minimum quota amount set by the EU and UK government.
I’ve been in this car for the day as my bmw went in for service. It was literally an idiot experience. It felt like i was Range Rover r but better feeling.
Spoke to a mate this morning, his 2018 150k km battery on a 530e has died and will cost €13k to replace. That’s in Dublin. Yes, this is a real problem. I’ll stick with internal combustion.
I don’t get it, we spend a fortune adding the third lane and most people ignore the driving lane and only drive into the over taking lane. What’s the point.
Yeah i5 touring a brilliant waste of money!! 🤣 Just to qualify that.. I bought an i4 for £58k in Jan 22… come forward to now it’s worth apparently less than £30k.. what’s that? 18+ months! These cars are depreciating like icebergs in this global warming scenario!! More the fool than I was!! But BtW the i4 is a brilliant car!! Not having that shit big boat of an i5.. tested it, drove it,, beautiful car.. but not a scratch on my i4!! Honestly 💪 i4 better if you want save polar bears!! 😉 Best regards

Will you be reviewing the new Panda e anytime soon? A tad closer to my budget.
I would love one as a PHEV with 75 kms of all electric range. My perfect car or close to it.

No, an Octavia is bigger alright but for an EV boot, not bad.
Think the 530e touring would be a nice mix.
Yeah, we should let go of the past. But the future looks expensive. We all are going to miss the one car do it all.

Does anyone know was the M550d available to order in ROI?..
Normally I prefer sedans, but this looks better, as it masks the early-2000s Camry proportions of the sedan.
would like 520d................saloon or touring............in ireland and uk now...........

It's a good looking car, would I sell my Volvo v90 cross country and add 60k plus to replace it with this, not a chance.

I have a challenge for you. Have you thought about doing a range test with a few EV cars and see which ones go the furthest
I’d much prefer a…….. 530D but as always great job Nobby great review and vid 🙏🏻💪🏻
Thanks 👍

Whole battery? No cells?
Whole battery. 😢
Below 20% SoC to see 200kw charging and above 50% SoC its below 100kw. Still 26mins to get from 10%-80% on such a big battery is very competitive.
6:22 I feel your pain and the trauma that brought you here!

Good review, nice car, silly price
Thanks for watching!
Just the thing for a retiring Conservative member without a seat.
