Remember the cereal companies have a vested interest in selling you their stuff. There isn't much fiber in cereal and grains as they claim especially as compared to berries and vegetables. Besides grains have phytates and other anti-nutrients that prevent you from absorbing minerals etc.
I have to admit that before I stopped eating carbs/cereals/milk, I would eat shredded wheat if I was constipated and that always caused me to have a nice BM.
From personal experience, eliminating fibre was the best thing I could have done. No gas, no bloating, no stomach aches, no constipation and improved regularity.
Ditto for me. And what's wild is that the difference or improvement happened practically happened overnight after switching from Keto (which I loved) to Carnivore.
Pretty sure you just described a fructose intolerance. Fiber is very good for you, even better is antioxidants which your reducing so much with less fiber.
@@xhalozero The No-Fiber movement is a flat out psy-op. Our ancestors ate ample fiber. Intense insoluble fiber. The fossil record bears this out. 90% of Americans don't consume enough fiber.
This pisses me off that the first thing people thought is how will they have a movement. Fiber doesn't keep you regular. Your body rejects it and pushes it out, that is what is going on. And grain fiber blocks nutrient absorption. I should be able to give out more than one thumbs up.
I wonder if you've looked at what a "healthy bowel movement" looks like? (google it) Would that "healthy" concept of a bowel movement differ on a carnivore diet?
It is so funny, he relates to small studies nobody except him relates to. Read the complete study maybe. Grains contain substances which can inhibit certain substances to a certain point. The other points are bullshit science. I don’t need to prove you, just do your own research. Or don’t, i couldn’t care less. This is so hilarious

Thank you for this video! I was so sick with Crohn’s and SIBO when I was eating government healthy with high fiber and little meat! I was so sick and gaining weight through the years! I started Keto and am more carnivore and I have lost 82 pounds! I have healed my abdomen, stomach, intestines, colon and bowels. #meatheals
Schquirl 8811 wow, this is the diet that I’ve been looking for. Please, can you say how much fiber you consumed or did you completely take it off your diet. I have Crohn’s and I’m tired of bull crap meds that don’t work; so I’m helping myself now and this may save my life.
SG Jr. When I started Keto I only dropped down to 10 gram of Fiber a day but 2 months in I realized that was still too much! I’m down to 0-5 a day average around 3 grams I guess. You made me look at my tracking diary. I focus on Surf and Turf meats for meals. I’m so happy and full I wish I did this years ago!!!
Find The Good In Your Life Yes! Congratulations! It was amazing how fast I started to lose once I cut out the plant foods in my diet!!! The inflammation is real from the anti nutrients and especially oxalates!!!!
Schquirl 8811 were you told to avoid meats like red meat, beef, and pork? I was told to avoid those meats because they will not be tolerated well by my stomach. Ever since they told me that I haven’t even thought of trying them again.
I can conform this 100%. Since i do keto, for the last month almost zero carb zero fiber, i NEVER had a single fart sneaking up, and my belly is flat as a board. I have ONE number 2 every day like clockwork👍
@@annashen2581 Meats, liver, fish, eggs, butter/ghee and highest quality ripe cheese. I wanted to try it for a month, the results are unbelievable. Just pure high quality animal foods.
Could NOT agree more! I'm 65 and went Carnivore 3 months ago and feeling fabulous!! I have been gluten-free for over 16 yrs, because of son#2, then Paleo for many years, finally cutting out all grains, went Keto beginning of this year and then slid into CV. My colon thanks me and bloating was immediately gone. We have been SO brainwashed.
@@ryanthepianoman27 I eat ground beef...sometimes 85/15, sometimes 90/10...and I fry my eggs in butter, sometimes putting extra on top. My suggestion would be, if someone feels constipated, add more fat in some form. Everyone is different. Find what's right for your body.
I've been zero fiber for a long time and my digestion is so smooth and low volume, no gas and no bloating. Fiber for digestion is outdated information.
When you say "zero fiber", does that mean no veggies? It's seems extreme to cut them out altogether, but I'm trying to figure out where I should go with my fiber consumption.
@@DweezlePeePants Yes, that's exactly what I mean, no veggies, no fruit. Avocados were the last fiber I gave up and that was back in January of this year. Personally I see no benefit going back to fiber. It may seem extreme, but on carnivore it comes on naturally to reduce fiber to very low or none at all. Find your own way of eating, fiber or no fiber, experiment, draw your own conclusions, sometimes you need to learn to unlearn 😉
@@DweezlePeePants i am tapering from omnivore keto to keto carnivore (carnivore is still keto) and eat less than 1/4 of my plate as veggies most days and days I eat all meat I feel the best. Id recommemd tapering down to not confuse your GI tract, especially if you have gut issues.
Fiber is only bad if you already suffer from constipation or SIBO..... but if you consume it to prevent this conditions that´s when it´s beneficial for gut health
I’ve never like veggies and when I started carnivore last month, no bloating whatsoever since then, much better bowel movement, waking up 2 hours earlier without alarm clock and brain is running like it’s on steroid everyday. It’s just amazing

I ate 100% carnivore for 10 weeks. Felt awesome, acne went away but damn; CONSTANT WATERY DIARRHEA 8X A DAY. Had to reintroduce veg and some tubers, now I'm ok. Doing 22:2 fasting every day, as fasting beats any macro setup.
Thomas, PLEASE address issues with diarrhea!! I used to eat a high fiber/low fat diet. I thought the diarrhea was from inflammation. I have eaten exclusively keto for 5 months now, but it has not helped. (I lost 40 pounds and feel better, though.) It seems worse after eating a salad. After watching this vid, I was ready to go full carnivore until I read this post. Maybe I need MORE fiber?? Help! Some days I have to wear a diaper. :(
If no one has told you! Thomas you are such a blessing to the health community- sheesh! Wouldn’t have been able to drop this weight and improve my health without you!
for me adding fiber significantly improved bowel movements. also, fruits and vegetables really make me feel good. I think a large amount of people are just hopping on the wagon for any reason not to include fruits and vegetables in their diet (not talking about those who have digestion problems). I mean, are we not omnivores? It's all about balance. Everyone always judges the extreme effects of things without realizing there is a balanced and healthy medium.
I noticed I was gaining fat, having constipation, and other digestive problems when I frequently ate bread, pasta, and cereal. Vegetables and fruits I have always been moderate. So, I took out the grains and my plummeted in just a few days. Could be water weight, but my problems have not been around for a week now. Everyone has to modify until they find what works for them.
There’s no “WE” when it comes to diet. I’ve been on a regular low carb diet for most my life (not by choice, just coincidence) and I’ve had diarrhea for 6 years straight. I’ve been to the doctor many times and they said “eat more fiber!”… didn’t help. Then my brother-in-law recommended the carnivore diet and I thought “why not?”… After 8 days I took my first normal shit in 6 years and it’s been like that for weeks now. Fiber is a biiiiiiiiiig mystery…
Pro Tip: Do not drink liquor every day and drink a lot of coffee. When you deplete water and electrolytes you will become constipated. I fixed this by taking a magnesium supplement + cream of tartar 4 times in the same day with plenty of water and a little less coffee. Note: The increased potassium (cream of tartar) greatly improved my mood. New research shows depression can be caused by potassium deficiency.
Do not put cream of tartar in coffee. It will taste horrible. Cream of tartar is a by-product of the production of wine. It has a mild tart flavor. This means it pairs well with fruit flavored drinks. I put in artificially sweetened (sucralose) fruit flavor water eg. sugar free kool-aid type drink. You will have to stir or shake and drink quickly as it will settle to the bottom very fast. Use no more than 1 tsp at one time. Your body doesn't store potassium very well so it will take what is needed and discard the rest. If you have never used it before start with 1/2 tsp. Some individuals have reported a laxative like effect with more than 1 tsp at one time. I have not had this problem. 1 tsp = 500 mg potassium. USRDA recommends 4,700 mg daily but if you do not consume carbs you can get by with much less as sugar digestion depletes potassium. I was only doing this once daily for a while, now 4 times daily and i feel great, happier and more energy. Due to my increase in magnesium as well, recently, for the first time in ages i can get a solid 8 hours sleep without waking up. Around 68% of people are magnesium deficient and around 98% are potassium deficient. Currently i'm using magnesium oxide because i get it for free but it's not the best form. Thomas has a video on the best forms of magnesium here - ruclips.net/video/gfR_AMCHGSE/видео.html . Mag glyconate and/or picolinate are the best forms.
@@jasongodwin1319 just remember cream of tartar has carbs so will break a fast if fasting for more than weight loss.. Id also recommend not using sucralose as it kills the bacteria in your gut. Some drink flvours now use splenda, I'd watch out for those! I ised cream of tartar for a good 6 mo ths while i couldnt find an alternate. I still use potassium about 2:1 to sodium salt, i feel better that way. I used to put it in my coffee no problem. I still use it in all my whip cream as i like the tartness! I use to drink 4 liters/1 gallon a day but now only 2 liters but more salts. Its funny how things adjust!
Yes, potassium and magnesium are two important minerals that is deficient in most diets. Our Paleolithic ancestors had approximately a 14:1 ratio of potassium to sodium. That is the reverse of most modern day diets. I have mixed that ratio and store in a container for general use, using "Nu-Salt" (potassium chloride) mixed with sea salt. For my electrolyte drink I use magnesium malate or citrate/gluconate and "Keto k1000" that has 1000 mg per serving of potassium citrate (better form than chloride). I also mix in cream of tartar.
And being a meat lover I ate almost nothing but meat for 3 months. It caused SEVERE constipation and triggered infection in the diverticulosis I didn't know I had turning it into diverticulitis and causing bowel perforation. I've had 7 life saving surgeries because of it in the past 2 1/2 years since then. I was only able to start haveing bowel movements everyday after I started eating lots of fiber (with plenty of water) with very lean proteins. Before that I could go a week or more without pooping and then when I did I often was screaming crying and throwing up. Now if I keep up on my fiber intake I can empty my bowels 2-5 times a day. The secret is you have to use the fiber with enough liquid or it won't be the right life saving consistency.
I recently looked into this: The reason why fiber would be healthy is that it is converted into short-chain fatty acids such as butyrate, which feeds to cells lining the gut and is anti-inflammatory. Now, the ketone body beta-hydroxybutyrate is chemically very similar to butyrate and studies show that both molecules activate the same cellular pathways (HDAC inhibitors, anti-inflammatory, etc.). My theory is that when you eat a high-carb diet, you need the fiber but if you eat a low-carb diet fiber is not necessary anymore.
That's what I'd love to know. I felt great on high carb diet, and great on keto diet. But is the middleway actually the worst of all or the best. Right now I'm eating almost no complex carbs to meals but still "sugary" fruits. I've been an extreme sugaraddict for a decade yet my insulin is on the very low side. Makes me question whats good >.< Grandma sugaraddict aswell (got dementia late in life), but was in physical shape most ppl 30years younger would dream of.
I also heard that when you consume short-chain fatty acids like butyric acid from butter it goes straight to the liver it is processed there verses when your gut creates it, it goes in the bloodstream and goes to all the organs.
I struggled with this for years. To much fiber doesn't work for me. But zero is even worse. So as with most things, there is a balance in the middle somewhere for me. And of course the perfect diet doesn't exist as its specific to the person.
@@justsomeguy2211 Exactly what Helena said. And even if you do get constipated on a carnivore diet, its a lot more manageable because the stools are so small
Yeah, I seem to be in the same boat. Even with lots of butter, things just get slower and that's taking HCl and ox bile with meals.. often *over* 1 gram of ox bile.
I’ve been doing lots of reading and research because after living with only a small intestines 8 years, I’m having many idiopathic GI issues. I’m trying not to have a second ostomy. For each individual their diet should be their experiment and homework for their body. It is too much to think every dog should eat the same dog food so each human is the same. I have always been a carnivore eater but experimenting led me to plant based a month ago. It began to show me great benefits. Suddenly this weekend boom! Problems! So last two days I added in salmon.....now it’s like someone took away the cones in the highway and there’s less of a traffic jam. Thank you.
You understand the importance of listening to your body (you will do well)... Also Sometimes things heal and you can try again (keep listening messages change)
How is it ideopathic when the large bowel was removed? Maybe i misinterpretted.. Do you keep a food journal of symptoms? How long have you been ketogenic?
How do you define carnivore eater? The most common definition is now that the diet consists of about 95% animal products with some added spices. If you tried that for at least half a year and you have still problems then it is indeed time to move on and try something new.
@@burgienl spices shouldnt be added in if doing carnivore for a strict ellimination diet though. Those need to be added back one at a time to see if they are part of the problem, after at least 3 months of strict eating and giving time to heal.
There was a time I started eating chia pudding I made myself. Chia seeds are loaded with fiber. Gave me the worst constipation I have ever had in my life! Once I stopped eating that, the constipation went away.
@@vgloveforlife I get sever constipation anytime I consume more than 5g of fiber. I used to do 1 Tbsp of Chia seeds in my morning Pea Protein shake, 1 tbsp in my post workout Whey and 1/2 tbsp in my oats because I was told high fiber was good. Which couldn't be further from the truth. Cutting my fiber by ~60% increased my 2 bowel movements per week to 1-2x per day, after 1 month. And ~6weeks after cutting out grains entirely (I loved Daves Brand) I increased to 2-3 times per day. My only fiber source is hemp protein (5g).
I've done keot off and on for several years and I'm now leaning towards carnivore. But the one question I still have pertaining to low or no fiber which I haven't heard anyone really talking about is how to maintain healthy gut flora. In my understanding most of what particularly feeds your healthy gut flora is fiber. So I'd be interested to see some long term studies in this regard. Thomas, if you know of any research addressing this issue I would much appreciate a video. Much love my friend! Thanks for being awesome!
You only need a diverse gut flora if you eat diverse kind of food, theres no need for plant digestion flora if you dont plan to eat plants. If you only eat meat, you gut flora will be a healthy meat digestive flora.
GuilhotinaGamez I doubt what you said is true. When there is growing research that an impaired gut biome leads to autoimmune diseases and other sickness.
@@1LIFEtoWIN well, from what ive learned autoimunne diseases comes mainly from leaky gut, wich usually is caused by bad diet (too much wheat and vegetable oils), in wich case its problaby will cause bad gut flora. So to me both impaired gut flora and autoimune diseases comes from the same source.
Thank you for this information. I was diagnosed probably 12 years ago with ulcerative colitis. But probably five years ago I got told I possibly had crows. But due to some issues with Healthcare and other things the healthcare I had at the time would not approve for the tests necessary to find out if I had Crohn's. Long story short I have my mom coming at me out of concern always telling me I need to eat more roughage and I need to eat more fiber. Yet she doesn't understand that I don't always digest roughage. And a lot of times that causes me to have pain excruciating pain and bloating and pain from the bloating. It is nice to hear somebody else showing and talking about the research that's been done. I read a book called The Paleo cure and I never buckled down and did anything with it. And now I've been watching this channel and slowly getting into low carb and and possibly going to go into full Keto. Again thank you the knowledge
Damn truth! I had digestive problems since i was kid went and away since i go carnivore. Keto helps a bit but here and there still had bloating problems when i started removing all plants then I felt 100% no bloating problem.
Out bodies and our gut bacteria have evolved to eat lots of fibre! Humans have been evolving over hundreds of thousands of years as omnivores, it's embedded into our physiology, biochemstry, and the many bacterial populations that have evolved with us. All those hunter gatherer societies should actually have been called gatherer-hunter societies as the vast majority of nutrition and colories came from plants of one kind or another (wild or tended). In temperate regions hunting/fishing was generally seasonal and limited by population density (and most meat calories were eaten dried/cured), while in the tropics, year-round hunting generally required long excursions (days or weeks) tracking and trailing animals between kills and over which other non-meat calorie sources were used. I think the only thing contributing to most people's positive health outcomes from switching to carnivore diets is that they leave behind the even more damaging health impacts associated with high sugar, high salt, high additives, and highly processed white flours that are ubiquitous in modern processed (and cheap) foods, while meat itself is relatively unprocessed and unmodified in the commercial food industry. Long term ingestion of these processed foods are also likely the causers of many of the inflammatory and immune system dysfunction problems carnivore diet advocates are trying to cure, because modern diets and low-fibre processed foods have unbalanced the natural bacterial flora in our guts that we have co-evolved with to live healthy lives eating plant-based, whole-grain diets). I accept that a carnivore diet can help a limited number of medical conditions, but for the vast majority of humanity, a meat based diet is going to cause you way more problems than it helps. If you want to be long-term healthy, eat unprocessed, whole foods/whole grains, with minimal animal products, just like we evolved to over hundreds and thousands of years. Not coincidentally, it will also be better for the planet's ecosystems (yeah I know we need grazers, but if you eat meat once every month or two, there will still be plenty of grazing animals to maintain grasslands and nutrient turnover, etc.). As it is, the increasing demand for beef and pork (or the soya that's fed to them) are the largest contributers to deforestation around the world, including the amazon, and these intensive meat industries are also the source of zoonotic diseases that have lead to virtually every modern disease pandemic in the last two hundred years. Not to mention that intensively raised herds/flocks are also the reason antio-biotics are being pumped/leached into the earth's environments leading to anti-biotic resistence bacteria arising in all mammer of habitats and wildlife. Lastly, the production methods involved to supply mass-produced meat markets are completely brutal, pain-filled, and cruel to the animals involved, and the people who work in these factories are far more likely to develop mental health issues. All of these ills can be avoided, and you can have great health by eating less meat and switching to whole food, plant-based diets. Even better, whole foods involve far fewer middle men, and are less capital intensive, so these production methods are much less dependent on long, costly supply chains and transport costs (and fossil fuels). It's money going straighter to farmers/producers, and also helps keep things more local, and producers more autonomous from big business models that dominate chicken, pork, and beef production, and processed foods. It's just wins all around socially, environmentally, and for personal health.
Everyone who is saying that the information regarding fiber is outdated is wrong. Yes we do not absorb the fibrous food itself, but we do absorb and the micronutrients stored in them and use the fiber to sweep our colons clean. Meat doesn't contain all the micronutrients that our bodies needs. And not everyone can afford supplementation
I can tell you all that literally when I took high fiber foods for a day or two, I felt such horrible stomach cramps, I thought I will explode. My body f hates fiber. Protein and salad is the best for me, and I have to admit I tried carnivore for a month and I was shocked. Never felt better, and my exam results were insane,
It takes well over a couple of weeks to adjust to fiber. Dietitians will always tell you to very slowly incorporate fiber into your diet and drink a lot of water. Eating high fiber foods this quickly is the biggest mistake people make with fiber and why so many people swear they can’t handle fiber. It’s because they take too much at once, and their micro biome cannot handle it yet.
I slowly increased my fiber to the point that I was eating salad at every meal and insane amounts of different 100% organic vegetables, just made my poops huge and my health got worse... Idk a lot of these people preaching about fiber never actually had health problems like chronic fatigue or autoimmunity. they don't know what kind of suffering is involved and the amount of experimentation needed.
Very Truthful video! I am living proof that this is indeed the case. Before I went Keto 18 months ago I was on the SAD. Plenty of fiber etc., and had severe bloating, inflammation, and digestive issues. Things got slightly better on Keto - BM frequency improved to every 2 - 3 days, bloating & inflammation was also reduced. But after switching to Carnivore 5 weeks ago everything improved basically overnight! BM's every day, no more bloating or inflammation, and just feeling better overall. An added benefit since being on carnivore has been MUCH better, deeper, & more SOLID sleeps! So I definitely agree with the contents of this video.
Yeah I cant figure out how or what to eat on a carnivore diet it just is difficult and seems even more restrictive the keto no more veggies or fruits no treats ever only meats?
you are brave Thomas. It seems that it is hard nowadays to talk about plant diet in a negative way. I remember my class in biochemstry class in the 80s when the teacher that we needed animal amino acid to survive . the image of him telling us that stuck in my mind since.....I felt it was crucial to remember....
I’ve been bloated my whole life and could never figure out the reason why. Thought I was just born like that, no matter what food I ate, still bloated and felt lethargic. Not until I switched to Keto and started fasting. I completely forgot about the last time I’ve bloated, and felt lethargic. My ADHD is completely gone, and I’ve never felt better. 25+ years of living, and I feel like I’ve just been reborn. Thanks for sharing information❤!
When I grew up my mother used to tell us that fiber makes you shit better so she fed us loads of fibers every day. My bowel movement was horrible during my childhood and teenage years. Ever since I took control over what I ate, and I reduced my fiber intake significantly, my bowel movement increased.
Chomps have been a life saver snack for my kids-I’m so thankful for you introducing them to us...amazing and healthy on the go snack alternative for them, thank you!
I have all kinds of digestive issues as well. The change from SAD to traditional keto made me feel 100% better. Then I went low FODMAP keto and it doubled for the good again!
Why not go zero fodmap and eat meat or fish only? Its got everything you need and more! But you'd need to supplement electrolytes as well for some weird reason.

@@steveanston4906 I've actually seriously thought about doing it. The only thing holding me up is that I'm trying to get my wife to go paleo as a babystep to keto. I'm going to be eating the same food she is to help.
For the first time in ten years I'm almost constipation free. I'm two weeks into the keto diet and though it's been hard my gastrointestinal issues seems to be going away completely. The main reason I will say is that I just produce 10 times less poop than before so it's much easier for my intestines to get rid of it.
I wish any doctor or specialist would have told me this in the last decade, instead of giving fiber drinks to solve constipation... Yes really. It never worked. I was desperate so I tried the carnivore diet (being on and off keto for a year) half a year ago. I noticed great chances almost immediately. I was not as allergic to cats, very mild. My hayfewer completely disappeared. I healed my IBS. My hair is thicker and nails are strong and very elastic. In short: Overall health improved and all digestive problems are gone.
Yes Harvard and big Universities need to invest in finding answers. When there was no industrial pollution of too much import export and too much processed food industry, people naturally ate meat in many parts of the world.
I can totally confirm this. Reducing the fiber and increasing protein reduced my bloating and and that feeling of having "things" blocked in me. (IBS sufferer here, with a tendency towards constipation). And the results were visible in about three days. And for reference, I was looking 5 months pregnant most of the time. 😐 Nowadays I still get the symptoms due to lack of sleep (this on an unrelated side of things).

@@CCDR07 Bruh we are obligate carnivores. We can definitely eat a lot of plants and survive, but we NEED a decent amount of meat. I presume you believe in the vegan propaganda. Dr. Greger looks like he is 100% on his death bed.
Some who support fiber will be disappointed with your anecdotal experience. But science will invest in people's experience soon. As Harvard has now started to look at carnivore diet.
My problem is that I have multiple bowel movements per day and usually it's not very solid. When I consume cruciferous veggies like broccoli, cauliflower, etc., I notice an immediate change by the next day. More solid bowel movements and I go less frequently. I think it just all depends on what problem a person has that should dictate whether or not they eat plenty of fiber. I know that for me personally, I need fiber. At least for now. So I'd probably need to go on a Mediterranean Keto diet rather than carnivore, OR have a few days per week doing carnivore and the rest doing Mediterranean Keto. That way I can still get plenty of veggies throughout the week while still getting the anti-inflammation benefits of being low carb and even zero carbs some days. To me, that makes the most sense. That's what I will be doing, just a hybrid of the two as an experiment along with intermittent fasting and see what happens.
I have SIBO. I read the journal paper you cited in the beginning of the video a couple years ago and was inspired, so I tried removing fiber, but it didn’t work for me. My chronic constipation stayed bad regardless of what I ate. I was very lucky to find a doctor who would test me for SIBO. I’m now on day 5 of antibiotics, and I really hope this clears up my extreme condition. Nothing has worked so far.
kailee borklund It could be constipation or diarrhea, depending on the type of bacteria that’s overgrown. If it’s a hydrogen-producing bacteria, it tends to cause diarrhea. If it’s a methane-producing bacteria, it tends to cause constipation. I have a combination of both, but constipation dominant. Most doctors won’t test you if you’re constipation dominant because there’s a wide-held belief that SIBO only causes diarrhea, which is patently false.
kailee borklund After day six, no, but I have 8 days to go on antibiotics. After that, I have a 2 month low FODMAP diet to follow for ruling out food intolerances. It’s a long process. Wish it could be faster.
What’s funny is I’m on the toilet and a little backed up when watching this. Lol . I don’t blame the diet, it’s just part of life sometimes. I now feel as if I’ve definitely over shared 😂
There’s a great little book on natural healing written by an older man who cured himself of a number of maladies without medical intervention, called My Physician, Myself. I read it a couple of years ago but lost my copy. I’m going to Amazon right now to order one and be more careful with it. It’s more than worth the read. You might look into the work of Luigi Cornaro, a Venetian nobleman who lived to be 102.
I agree. First of all I don't do keto because apart from meat I digest well white rice and potatoes. Because I have some gut issues and I found that this helped a lot with lowering my fiber intake. I still don't agree that keto is the perfect diet for everyone. I in the other hand thrive on fruits (without seeds), potatoes, carrots and meat. i am fit and healthy so I don' t see why i should go in ketone mode. I also learned that intermittent fasitng didn't help for me because I would be starving and end up devouring literally everything for dinner and that would cause A HELL LOT OF BLOATING. So what worked best for me is some fruits for breakfast (without seeds) and have lunch and dinner. I cook 2 meals for dinner so I also have lunch for the day after. I tried keto and intermittent fasting but I don't thrive on these.
You starve on keto because you eat way to many carbs! Your not fat adapted, you are a glucose burner and will eventually pay a detrimental Health price. Watch Dr/Professor Bart Kay.
Fan of the channel, not sure about this content. My experience with fiber totally opposite. If you going to consume chia seeds you need to grind them and soak them for a few min., otherwise the seeds will expand in your belly. Every time I give the kids chia or flaxseeds an hr later they hit the 🚽. I guess not all digestive systems are created equal. Love fiber
you know they go 🚽 because their bodies reject the fibre as useless trash....we cannot digest fibre at all, so it just goes through and we expel it...what benefit is that? life is better free of fibre...
I am not a vegetarian but I am not sure it's logical to say that humans are carnivore by nature because their digestive system is same size as that of dogs/coyotes. Dogs and other carnivorous animals have much higher amount of acid in their stomachs (and thus have greater ability to digest meat) compared to humans.
no ... ....you are wrong... humans stomach acidity is comparable ...or stronger..... anthropologist have already proven we are hyper carnivores.... ....you ARE misled
@@charliebrownlives1348 can you point me out the studies which you mention have proved that humans are (as you say) hyper carnivores? Also can you point me out the source of your information that humans have more acid in stomach compared to other carnivores such as dog?
Lotsa veggies and fruits daily for most of my life... 3-6 movements a day... seriously.. slow days were minimum 3... carnivore for 5 months... 1 a day zero bloating (after over 20+ yrs of daily stomach issues) zero stomach issues.. until I get silly and get the alcohol flowing or eat some cheese... Fiber, just like carbohydrates are not needed. Great video.. I'd love more carnivore science please and thank you!
@@thebaumer02 I'm curious how our ancestors survived considering our teeth are clearly originating from a herbivore and developed canine teeth much later.
Ketone metabolism results in decreased production of reactive oxygen species, known to contribute to inflammation. Moreover polyunsaturated fatty acids activate PPAR which inhibit NF-kB and AP-1 . KD neuroprotective activity has been analyzed previously, based on its anti-inflammatory effects.
Hate to say it but I tried Carnivore after being Keto for a few years and got constipation and bleeding hemorrhoids, neither of which I had ever had in my life! Had to go back to Keto to resolve the issue.
Same kind of issue! I honestly think a diet rich in animal fat and protein is good but you need some kind of fruit, honey or healthy carb to push everything through 😅 defiently low or no processed grain is optimal though
Speaking of fiber, I ate way too much much of it yesterday (about 10g, way more than I'm used to) and literally felt like I would explode. Might as well drop keto and go full carnivore
In terms of fiber from foods like fruits or lettuce, I'd still eat them because they taste good. If consuming fiber makes me poop less frequently, I can use that to my advantage to schedule around my sedentary lifestyle. As long as there's not too much fiber, I don't need to worry about constipation and just enjoy them in my meals like I always have. If my schedule allows for me to poop more frequently, I can reduce my fiber intake and enjoy other things. Knowing that fiber intake isn't necessary and I can actually leverage that to my advantage is quite liberating, like when I discovered that eating all the time isn't necessary and I can secure more free time from fasting.
I really appreciate the knowledge that you have given me ever since October 6th of this year my daughter's mom and I have been doing best with keto and exercise and I tell you what a lot of significant change has happened to us so thanks again Mr. Thomas
This is interesting info, but I don't know that the data/sample size is compelling enough to change up my personal diet (lotsa keto vegetables) that's working pretty well for me. I could see this helping someone with major gut issues though.
Nose to tail carnivore for over 2 years now. I can confirm that after the initial adjustment period, I had zero digestive issues. If anything I feel 100% better with little to no fiber. Now instead of having a 💩 3 times per day, I 💩 twice per week. My stool is a lot less "bulky", but that's because my body uses what it needs from the meat I eat, and there is just less to come out the other side. It's incredibly liberating to not have to be within sprinting distance of a bathroom at all times.
It is small, and therefore may not be generalizable. However, if fiber actually helped constipation, you would not have got these results. This doesn’t prove that removal of fiber helps.
I wasn’t trying to cut fibre, but after eating better meats and more often, I am much more regular and yes, much less bloating. There is something to this.
Since I’ve increased my dietary fibre from 12g to 45g, I definitely feel more energetic, plus my cholesterol has dropped 31%. I have 2 regular bowel movements per day.
Meat should mean much more than animal flesh. It is plant-derived nutrients because cattle eat plants or grains and that means meat is from plant nutrients (plant-derived) without the risk of plant toxins such as lectins from vegetables. Meat is no different to eating vegetables - just better being free of plant toxins /*
Yes Thomas, finally saying out loud that too much fiber could be the cause of many ailments and poor health conditions in a large percent of the population. You gained all of my respect back! Now please try to convince your buddy Dr. Berg of this. Telling people that 6 to 8 cups of spinach and veggies a day is healthy is ludicrous.
Raechelle Bennett water and salt needs will likely increase a bit during the transition phase. You may need to eat more than usual for the first week or more as your body adjusts and gets better at dealing with the increased fat intake. Make sure to have lots of healthy fats with every meal. Grass fed butter on your meat for example. If you are ever chewing your meat and find it’s dry that’s usually a sign there isn’t enough fat and you will continue to have hunger cravings if you don’t increase that fat content. As for constipation, that will likely disappear completely. You will produce much less when you do use the toilet but that’s because you can digest the majority of what you eat once all that indigestible fiber in the plant based foods are removed from your diet. Hard to believe it’s that simple but I went from years of struggling with constipation to daily effortless movements less than two weeks into carnivore.
@@senilecanuck9402 Oh WOW! You have been so helpful--thank you so much. This is really going to help me starting carnivore. Do you use beef tallow (suet) as well? I can't get grass fed pork suet unfortunately--I've heard it boosts the taste. Two weeks is a nice turnaround time. I'm hopeful. As for water, just plain water? Is carbonation allowed at all? I don't mean soda pop or artificial sweeteners or anything, just carbonation. I guess stevia is out as it is a plant. I get bored with water ;) That is something I'll get used to. I always had lime or lemon in my water. Not anymore. ⚘🙏
Raechelle Bennett some people find they need to supplement electrolytes and mix that in the water then sip on it during the day. The need for this varies greatly from person to person. I find I stay better hydrated and have better energy levels doing this. So no, not always straight water. For some people straight water works amazingly well. You’ll have to learn about and experiment with that yourself. If you’re comfortable on reddit there are subreddits on carnivore, keto, and fasting with a wealth of information about this. As for carbonated water, the carbonization itself is not a concern. If that will make it more pleasant feel free.
I don't know about this, not completely knocking it how to share my personal experience I've had ibs-c my whole life. When I was about 40 I was diagnosed with diverticulosis. Striving to avoid a diverticulitis attack, if I even have one day without a bowel movement that I use magnesium as a stool softener and to make sure I go can go. Since starting Keto I've become so uncomfortably constipated that I have now doubled my magnesium and sometimes even that is not enough. I work at a health food store and have many customers trying keto or low carb that become constipated. From what I can tell it takes a few months of your gut bacteria to adapt. I'm just not willing to wait that long since I know I have diverticulosis and IBS. Also a personal observation is that supplemental fiber causes tremendous gas and bloating for me. However I do not have a problem with the naturally occurring fiber from salad or veggies. Last note is I was amused a picture of the girl looking at her face when they talked about bloating, because surely since the subject was constipation then they were referring to digestive bloating.
The kind of fiber is important too. Psyllium husk and acacia fiber for example have been shown to reduce constipation and increase regularity, and they don’t cause GI issues like many other fibers. I have some major GI issues and these fibers nearly cured me. I didn’t feel as good on carnivore overall but I did have zero bloating.
I've had the opposite effect using psyllium husk. Suffering so much bowel upset my GE prescribed psyllium husk. I followed her directions to the T. Within a day I could feel very stuffed. A week later I still could not have a bowel movement and the pain and distention was escalating every day. I ended up in the Er. I won't touch that stuff again.
@@RaechelleBennett782 How much psyllium husk? That kind of reaction is unusual and I'd only expect it if you went from no psyllium husk to large amounts of it in a short time period. With any kind of fiber it's important to start at very small amounts and incrementally work your way upwards over the course of several weeks. That said, everyone's gut is different, and do what works best for you. Personally, I feel best with either no fiber, or high amounts of fiber. Medium amounts of fiber leave me feeling bloated and constipated since it's not enough fiber to keep me regular, but just enough for it to sit around in my gut and ferment and bloat me.
@@HazerGore1185 It was years ago, I'd hazard a guess that my gastroenterologist ordered1 tsp in my morning porridge every morning. It just didn't agree with me. @@HazerGore1185 Thank you for more feedback. Actually my digestion is why I'm going carnivore as an elimination plan. My aunt prompted me to do carnivore first, as she has FM, liver problems and a maybe auto immune as well. Funny thing is we all have a healthy lifestyle, not overweight, eat sensibly, exercise but genetics gets in the way. I haven't tried fennel seed tea yet. I've been more naturopathic than western medicine. So you take CBD oil? Isn't it considered plant based? Does it help the digestive tract?
I was really liking this channel until now. This study was done in China, was not a blind or double blind study, and the numbers are massively insignificant! Just because it was published in a journal DOES NOT mean it was a legitimate study! Giving people medical advise based on an insignificant study is unethical. Im pretty dissapointed.

Always had bloating. But tried carnivore for a month. Bloating went away, BUT started getting like a constipated but mucousy/watery/and bloody stool. Still dont know why? Adding fiber, carbs, probiotics back in helped a little but still not back
Lance electrolytes are even more critical with low-carb diets as carbs help us retain 3-4x the water and prevent expelling of minerals/dehydration. So you have to get more sodium, magnesium etc especially if you’ve been sweating or working out.
I have IBS D and tried carnivore for 30 days. Instead of 5 bowel movements a day I increased to 15. Had to add some spinach and avacodo which has slowed my digestion down to manageable.
@@JoeyDediashvili ill take note cuz I may try it again in future, maybe with organic/wild meats. That could be why the 1st week was real good, then downhill (maybe lost my electrolyte supply and that caused intestine to just get destroyed)

Shobhit Seth I went keto and experienced the same. I just cycled out of keto for some time but I think drastically increasing potassium and salt might be super helpful as they function as the doorway for nutrients to get into cells. If you look at the way you phrased your dichotomy, then it’s true, you either eat fibre or you don’t. There is no in between. But I get what you’re trying to say, imo the thing about diet should be consistency, the thing about modern humans is we’re used to diversity and randomness.
I 100% agree. I've been carnivore for the past 2 months and when i reintroduce fiber or carbs usually accidentally, I pay for it. One time when breaking a fast it was so bad I was ready to hop in the truck and go to the ER.

This goes against every cereal and fiber commercial we've ever seen. I love it
Remember the cereal companies have a vested interest in selling you their stuff. There isn't much fiber in cereal and grains as they claim especially as compared to berries and vegetables. Besides grains have phytates and other anti-nutrients that prevent you from absorbing minerals etc.

for me adding fiber significantly improved bowel movements. also, fruits and vegetables really make me feel good.

Do you put cream of tartar directly into your coffee?
How do you ingest the cream of tartar and how much daily? Thanks!
I recently looked into this:
The reason why fiber would be healthy is that it is converted into short-chain fatty acids such as butyrate, which feeds to cells lining the gut and is anti-inflammatory.
Makes me question whats good >.<
Grandma sugaraddict aswell (got dementia late in life), but was in physical shape most ppl 30years younger would dream of.
Interesting man! Keep studying!! Good stuff 👍
Exactly finally Someone that uses his brain. Good thought man 👌
I also heard that when you consume short-chain fatty acids like butyric acid from butter it goes straight to the liver it is processed there verses when your gut creates it, it goes in the bloodstream and goes to all the organs.

@@joesilkwood4958 I agree, letting your bowel heal takes time to lower the inflammation to help with digestion and symptoms.

Funny, I have the opposite experience. When I eat chia seeds, they clear me right out.

I get sever constipation anytime I consume more than 5g of fiber.

@@pragavirtual Autoimmunity comes from a bad diet. Carnivore is not a bad diet. Dr. Ken Berry probably has some videos about this.

It's just wins all around socially, environmentally, and for personal health.
reminder, this bruh is off of carnivore. so please continue
Keto saved me from daily stomach pain, acid reflux, ibs
Wow !!!
Hi. Your comment is interesting, would you mind giving me a brief list of what you basically eat? Thank you either way 😊
Yeah I cant figure out how or what to eat on a carnivore diet it just is difficult and seems even more restrictive the keto no more veggies or fruits no treats ever only meats?

I just switched from Keto to carnivore which was an easy transition. I love it
For the first time in ten years I'm almost constipation free. I'm two weeks into the keto diet and though it's been hard my gastrointestinal issues seems to be going away completely. The main reason I will say is that I just produce 10 times less poop than before so it's much easier for my intestines to get rid of it.
Can you tellme what you usually eat in a day, how many times, do you also fast? And do you have constipation?

Thanks for this great info, iv got inflammatory bowel disease and the Carnivore diet has been life changing for me and this helps explain why.
Love fiber
I think this information more applies to people with digestive problems. I don't have issues with fiber personally but I know some people do.
you know they go 🚽 because their bodies reject the fibre as useless trash....we cannot digest fibre at all, so it just goes through and we expel it...what benefit is that? life is better free of fibre...
since I'm sibo sufferer, I can say that carnivore, as well as fruit smoothies work great. also, celery juice drink every morning
Good you found what worked for you
I am not a vegetarian but I am not sure it's logical to say that humans are carnivore by nature because their digestive system is same size as that of dogs/coyotes. Dogs and other carnivorous animals have much higher amount of acid in their stomachs (and thus have greater ability to digest meat) compared to humans.

Knowing that fiber intake isn't necessary and I can actually leverage that to my advantage is quite liberating, like when I discovered that eating all the time isn't necessary and I can secure more free time from fasting.
fiber is defenetly a part of it but hidration is defenetly the key when it comes to have good digestion system
It's incredibly liberating to not have to be within sprinting distance of a bathroom at all times.
you just sound like you have an undiagnosed intolerance to something you used to eat tbh. Neither diarrhea nor constipation are normal.
Isn’t 63 sample size extremely small. Isn’t that something that often gets criticized by either side when they don’t like the outcome of a study
63 is small, but it doesnt really matter if the results are as clear as they were
No studies have disproven it, and the results were statistically significant. So until another study comes along, I think it's worth considering
The results are still very clear in my book. + Adding personal experiences = Reliable in my book.
It is small, and therefore may not be generalizable. However, if fiber actually helped constipation, you would not have got these results. This doesn’t prove that removal of fiber helps.
Christian Bitar Same here
I wasn’t trying to cut fibre, but after eating better meats and more often, I am much more regular and yes, much less bloating.
Its not ludicrous. 7-10 cups daily of mostly greens and lettuces is GREAT. THAT kind of fiber is totally good.

So do you find you need a good balance of water, salt, fat and meat? I'm starting carnie next week and I'm so afraid of being constipated.
Imostly been eating steak with eggdrop soup last couple weeks that seems to really hit the spot.quick and easy too

Low carb can cause constipation because it depletes water. You need to up your water and salt intake on low carb.
@@TheRealMonnie And healthy animal fat intake as,well. Lots of it.
I drank lots of water, but on the 3rd day I quit because I was experiencing discomfort and constipation already. We really have to listen to our bodies. We're all different.
@@RaechelleBennett782 1 tsp is generally considered a starting dose, so it does seem to just had a bad reaction to it. I had to start with 1/2 tsp personally. Sorry you dealt with that, and I hope your digestion is doing better these days. You are right we have to listen to our bodies. If you haven't tried peppermint drops and fennel seed tea, both are also great for digestion. I also recently started taking CBD oil and it really calms my gut too.
@@HazerGore1185 Thank you for more feedback. Actually my digestion is why I'm going carnivore as an elimination plan. I have fibromyalgia and my body is sensitive to so much, not just food, chemicals, etc. It's obvious plants do cause me to bloat so I'm tired of being in this position for so long. Does it help the digestive tract?
fiber is still needed.it clears your gut

Listen, I eat that way you adviced us this sunday and monday. And drank enough water. And my mommy tummy gone. No, bloating,...whoot whoot.
This channel does not give medical advice, it just coment on medical and nutrition studies...
@@pragavirtual Im not going to get drawn into a fight. Using this "nutritional study" to get people to buy a product is predatory.
Good one Thomas. Keep this info coming!
POTASSIUM! I've been using LITE salt...it's 1/2 salt, 1/2 potassium. If u aren't eating 7 cups veggies a day, get your potassium from Lite Salt( aka NuSalt or Salt Free)
Also called No Salt.
wow! that's a very old school trick. almost pre Atkins- circa 1970's.
@@KJB0001 Works well for fasting. Got it from the 'snake juice recipe'.
@@staceykersting705 Heck Yeah, I bet. I've been using it since the 80's on Atkins/Phinney.
Before carnivore, I had bleeding hemorrhoids. Now I have none. I've been ketovore/carnivore for 7 weeks and received this improvement the first week.
I'm guessing that you've been reading Ivor Cummins on Twitter 😊
Thank you sooooooooo much for this!
My gut was feeling this info but my mind was not.
Now I am confirmed!
Hallelujah!
Excited to see if my hsCRP will go down now.
@@MrBailey111 woah, shitty (sorry lol). One thing i was considering for fiber without the carbs would be metamucil or something of the like
Yeah, organs are a great source of the minerals and vitamins.
My Wife brought these home a few months back. They go fast in my house so occasionally I will get them packed in my lunch.
Can you talk about hair loss/hair thinning on keto and why it happens and how to prevent it ?
Shobhit Seth I had the same deal
I did keto for about two months. Lost 20 lbs of fat while gaining muscle and strength but my hair started to thin out and fall. This is now two months old and they are still falling out. What did you do ??
Shobhit Seth I went keto and experienced the same. I just cycled out of keto for some time but I think drastically increasing potassium and salt might be super helpful as they function as the doorway for nutrients to get into cells. So cream of tartar can get you a lot of potassium as Tom mentions. I also think that eventually your body gets used to it and the hair regrows.
Protein is the key to prevent hair loss.
Increase your protein intake... most people need 1-1.6 gms per kilogram of body weight.
I cannot tolerate too much fibers (even the soluble ones...), and i feel relieved when i read the comments and notice that i'm not alone. We don't talk enough about people like us....
Is it just me or did Thomas totally not put that chomps in his mouth as he turned away from the camera?
He's all about the money
very informative video! thankyou for making this! I'm sure it has helped so many people:) you share your knowledge with all for others to gain health and well-being-wishing you also health well-being and happiness 😊
So if you have none of these issues, is there any reason to not eat fibre?
Yes, is execive fiber intake that leads to these issues, so the lower the fiber intake, the better.
I heard Dr. Paul Mason share this study and it blew my friggin mind. People don't believe me when I tell them that zero fiber or very low fiber is the best way to clear their constipation, hemorrhoids, and digestive issues.
I love how everything is just black and white in the comment section. Either you eat fiber or you dont, there doesn't seem to be a in-between.
