    Awesome video like always! As a Tech Sling 2 owner, I like 2nd better bc 3rd's two buckles is higher risk of theft. Someone can unbuckle from behind and take the bag ,while 2nd has one buckle and you can grab the strap as someone unbuckles your bag. However, strapping buckles with black zip ties might help after you decide which shoulder to put it on.

      I'm very blessed to live in Hong Kong where I don't have to worry about these things, but I'm also glad to read comments like these so it can remind me to focus more on security aspects of a bag when I review them

    The V2 was my daily bag for a few years. But it was designed to carry a 13” MacBook. When the 14” MacBooks came out, it was literally quite a stretch to get the corners of the notebook to fit in the sling, and obviously quite a weak point for any impact. I was uncertain about losing the dedicated zippered notebook section, but having one vs two main zippers makes the V3 more streamlined and no chance of getting the zippers mixed up. I do find the pen slot to be too wide and not enough depth for most pocket clip pens. But overall the V3 is a win. I’ve been using it for a few months now (X-Pac). The back material is more grippy, it has slightly more room, and is lighter. It’s sort of the distilled version of the V2 and for the most part removed little annoyances. Such as the V2’s quick release buckle which only made it likely to drop the sling from the sudden abrupt weight shift. Maybe the only addition I would have liked, would have been a durable plastic loop on the strap where I could hang my work key card lanyard. (I use the fabric loop of the strap keeper but i feel like it will deform over time) I do miss the lined sunglass pocket as that was a little tactile touch of luxury every time you used it. But overall I think it’s a solid improvement and it feels like a V2 owner had input into the redesign.

      glad to hear you like it! I think I prefer most of V3, I'm still not sold on the strap/buckle situation though, I prefer V2 better for that

    Great review, 100% agreed on the new interior materials, haven't seen them in person but on all reviews they look so much better than the old dark grey ones... Question: Supposing that the internal organization isn't enough, does it fit a fully loaded Cable Kit 3 easily in the main compartment?

    I liked the 2 but I wished the front pocket was a bit bigger. Then got a PacSafe Vibe 325 and liked that except the strap isn’t quick release and not comfortable over one shoulder. Been using the Tomtoc for awhile. You can switch sides and has quick release. Been my fave. Great review.

    • @elanthys
      @elanthys 6 месяцев назад +3

      Love the Vibe 325 myself and it works for me, the only thing is my MBP only fits inside naked and without a padded case it makes me paranoid when I carry it this way. That said, the lack of quick release is by design, its primary sales pitch is to be anti-theft…

I just need to know one thing, I'm considering buying this with a samsung tab s10 ultra that is a 14.6" tablet, is there some more wiggle room in this sling's laptop compartment to accommodate that? I understand it says it can hold up to 14" but I'm trying to hold out some hope this sling looks awesome.

    I have Aer Tech Sling 2. Not a fan that, cannot control which side to wear plus shoulder pad is way to high. Glad to see Tech Sling 3 fixed that issue (kinda). But I agree, looks like they’ve taken away the pockets. I’ll skip this sling & look for other options.

  • @iu1191
    @iu1191 6 месяцев назад +1

    FINALLY:
    Love the review.
    You said you would compare it to V2... I would love to find out what you think of someone who is in the market for a sling but can't decide between V2 and V3.
    Also, if there is someone who had V2... should they upgrade to V3? Is there an obvious reason to do so, or do V2 and V3 serve different customers?
    I like V3.
    I adore V2.
    I don't like the strap of V2, but I have a workaround.
    The functionality of V2 is killer, and it does not get heavy because it can't.
    There is no way to carry enough to make it heavy.
    It is my assessment that if a sling is heavy - get a backpack.
    A sling should be for carrying content you could have in your hands or in your cargo pockets, but you want to carry it all in a bag instead.
    A woman who carries a purse could carry that stuff in her hands but wants a place to put all that stuff that is accessible and stylish. It is generally not too heavy and is very personal.
    A sling should perform similarly.
    Personal.
    NOT a backpack replacement.
    Easy to wear and NOT destroying your body while doing so.
    The V2 does that.
    Does the V3 do that, or is it moving into daypack territory?
    Thanks again - Great video.
    This was what we were waiting for.
    You do such fab work!!

      @Nomads.Nation  6 месяцев назад +1

      thank so much! I'm sorry if my review wasn't clear which version I like more... cuz I still don't know! Both have their pros and cons. If I had a gun to my head I would slightly prefer V2 though

      @@Nomads.Nation I think I feel the same. For me it didn't need to be bigger but the other refinements would have made it better. Making it bigger took something away form it being a sling. It looks like it has become more of a tech brief. The V2 is a real no compromise sling. BTW - your video was NOT unclear. I just had some further questions and no video will answer every question. There will always be extra. What your video did do was inspire additional questions and you have been so kind as to answer them. Love it. Very grateful. Looking forward to the next set of videos. Just read this in a review on Aer's own website: "Easily accommodates 14” MacBook Pro, which before literally stretched its limits.". From other reviews it sounds like it also has what feels like a few regression compared to v.2 for some people, but better MBP 14" accommodation alone + ambidextrous shoulder strap (even if it has some downsides) makes this the one to consider for me, not v.2 🙂

    Thanks Aaron, great review! If I had a 14” laptop this bag would be very interesting to me! However I’m going to be on the 16” mbp for the short to medium term. I just discovered the sling category, I’ve always been using backpacks up until now, but now I love slings! My first was the 9L Bellroy Venture and just ordered the 6L version as well. I’ve always been a one-backpack kind of guy, even down to preferring the same backpack always EDC and travel, for simplicity. But I love the versatility of a sling, the fact that it forces you to pack light and not having sweaty back all the time. Anyway, what are your top recommendations for slings that can accommodate 16” mbp laptops? Or might turn or that 16” laptops are just too heavy for a sling type bag, but I want to explore the option. Thanks and keep up the great videos!

    • @Nomads.Nation
      @Nomads.Nation  3 месяца назад

      thanks so much dude! I don't know of any slings that can carry a 16" off the top of my head, maybe the Boundary Supply Errant Sling or the Aer Travel Sling 2, but plz double check. You might want to start going into brief/messenger territory for that. We have a huge roundup being published on this soon so be sure to keep an eye out

    • @Fnantier
      @Fnantier 3 месяца назад

      @@Nomads.Nation Thanks, I'll check them those! And look forward to your brief/messenger roundup as well. My feeling at this point is that 16" laptops probably is better suited for bags in the backpack territory, than slings (and brief/messengers). I have a Peak Design Travel 30 L right now and it's fine, I just miss a little extra organization for EDC - e.g. where do I put my sunglasses case? Main room right now, sometimes the first pocket inside but it's not ideal. I previously used the Peak Design Everyday v2. and it was great, but it less good to travel with (doesn't hold packing cubes) and it was also tricky to have both gym clothes + Apple Vision Pro in it. I checked out your kickstarter for your own backpack, but looks like it's closed now, unfortunately. I'll just live with my PK Travel 30L for now (it's still a great bag!) and keep an eye out for your reviews + when your bag become available (unless you have a way for me to still get in on the kickstarter :P)
