True. But what if you are in your bedroom at night and someone is trying to rob you at night. I live in a elevated apartment. Jumping out isnt an option. And there's only 1 front door. Try running hehe
I’ve come across people with knives multiple times. I’ve never had to use my knife because usually criminals are looking to target people who are defenceless, and when you stand your ground and show you are willing to protect yourself they usually wise up. The only time I have been genuinely concerned is when I was approached by someone who was clearly on hard drugs. People who have nothing to lose usually don’t have the sense to give up and move on so In those cases you may have to defend yourself.
You got mugged by a decent muggers then I guess. Not every mugger nowadays is that "nice". Some start stabbing or punching/kicking out of nowhere before taking your stuff
A knife fight is something I've always feared. I was cut pretty significantly while hikeing the AT last year. The knife was out before I knew how serious the situation was and I had no Idea how to defend myself from a blade, i still don't but some knowledge could make a difference if i ever unfortunately get attacked again. I conceal carry in my homestate but can't on the trail
So I was jumped on the way home from school, one day by some gang member who was high on some weird stuff. He ran at me which gave me the opportunity to throw him from my hip. He hit the floor and scrambled up whilst drawing a knife. I did a simple disarm by twisting his wrist then hitting his elbow inwards. He dropped the knife which I caught in my left hand and he rolled up his sleeve which revealed a large kitchen knife duct taped to his arm. My instinct kick in and I put the knife in my strong hand (right). He ran at me with this huge blade in my hand and I stepped far back and grabbed his wrist (with the blade in) and with my right hand (with the knife) I slashed the opposite side of his elbow which caused him to immediately throw the knife. I dropped the knife far away so it would not fall into our feet. With my now free hand I punched him in the jaw which caused him to go unconcious. I put the knives next to each other, put him in the recovery position and called the police. So I could have lost my life that day if I didn't know any knife defense. It's absolutely necessary and I highly recommend learning it.
Or don't have the money for a gun and ammunition for target practice. A decent sharp knife can cost less and serves other purposes other than self defense. Something is better than nothing. Pepper spray and running are always good ways to avoid injury
I almost got my motorcycle robbed in Mexico (this is where a live) and I watched and perfected this tactics before so I used them today injuring 2 people that approached me and tried to rob my motorcycle, I got out of my bike and when they turned I stabbed the thieve and his other partner got a knife out but I didn't have him time to react after struggling for 2 minutes I release them took my bike and I accelerated fast as fuck It was scary but you need to block that and never be afraid Thanks I love you guys for this video saved my life.
I respect your thinking and training in a knife fighting situation.Having said that, this scenario is just so unpredictable and you most likely will be stabbed or cut really bad. Does your attacker have friends? How is your visibility? etc Carry a hand gun as per the law where you live. Practice, Practice as much as you can. Bullet beats knife 99% of the time, as long as you keep distance from your attacker.
Don't listen to this dumbass. In CQB situations, knives beat guns every time. Guns only work at a distance, and if they close the gap before you draw, they can do some real damage/kill you. Guns are great for home defense, but in close quarters, learn to use your hands/knife.
when he started talking about the stabbing and ripping i actually got really scared of that happening to me lmao 😭 i should start taking lessons, it's kinda sketchy at night where i live
There's so many videos of people fighting with the blade up. This is all fine and dandy if your knife is your main mode of attack. Though if you really want to kick ass with a blade, you don't fight with the knife, the knife fights with you. For that, becoming proficient with a reverse grip and hand to hand combat should really be your main avenue. Your hands and fists are your main weapons, the blade is just there to inflict serious damage when necessary. Forward grips make blocking dangerous and render that hand useless to anything BUT blade attacks. If you're not a great fighter and you just want to learn to defend yourself, disregard my comment and watch the video. If you want to be a "Billy Badass", learn to fight and forget about forward grips.
I was thinking the same thing because I naturally hold my knife in reverse grip, but this video had a good point: if the attacker has a knife, then the goal is to get rid of the knife as the first threat. Forward grip seems to have more maneuverability than reverse grip for that purpose.
You can’t always do a reverse grip, you can’t always do a forward grip. Different situations call for different grips and skills. Knowing to be proficient in both and knowing how to quickly switch from one grip to the other to adapt to your situations, which can change mid fight, will make you extremely proficient in knife fighting. Along with regular hand to hand combat of course.
Attacking with a knife seems like risky business to me. The attackee might take it away. I have a brother who is no good he came into the kitchen one morning with a knife wanting to stab my father. I took it away I had no choice but to get control. I walked into an armed robbery where the robber had a kitchen knife at the gas station. I had no choice but to get hold of him and take it away before he could use it.
i think that a left handed person defending themselves would have a better chance because they'd have more openings, but i guess it could be the other way around too
Great video. Attack the threat first and follow their knife. Much appreciated seeing the actual moves and why. Thank you! PS Have you ever thought to do a video for a small female? I’m 5’ 90lbs.
Im so not comfortable going up against a short blade. I wish we still lived in a time where carrying a saber or an epee or whatever was still in fashion lol the fencer in me is just "bind his blade and counter" but binding two 3 inch blades is quite a task
There is the element of surprise here, no real attacker is gonna show you their knife, even more so if you have an epee, they will stab you before you have a chance to draw your sword
@@jonathantavitian7283 My blade is 4 or 5 inches. As long as it's not spring loaded you're fine carrying a bigger blade. It's just a thumb flick to open them.
Some advice I received from a Sifu long ago.... no one 'wins' a knife fight. If two guys pull knives, both are getting cut. However, there are degrees of losing.... better to take some cuts needing stitches to your arms than a fatal stab wound.
My buddy in college was borderline blacked out pulling out $600 out of an atm at 3am to buy coke and a homeless guy came and attacked him with a knife. My buddy got his hand sliced but somehow beat the shit out of the guy and ran home.
this isn’t about the video but just so you know it only takes 5 pounds of pressure to rip off an ear so if you’re short you can throw your wallet on the ground once he bends down take that chance to hurt him or her if you’re tall make sure you have the weapon out so his or her hand then rip off the ear it will hurt and save you
No way it’s 5 pounds, they’re also extremely oily and slippery, if you can grab his ear you can knee him in the nose, also just run away if he’s already taking your valuables that you threw away for the ear pull lol. Just carry a knife and ocspray.
@@natibobatic6560 I really cant think of a worse option than throwing a valuable on the ground and thinking you’re fast enough to get in with enough leverage to pull someone’s ear with 8++ pounds, and get your stuff back. Thats fighting over your valuable that you already gave them, 2Xs. they’d immediately wonder why you’re standing there still or yank their head away. Also my doctor doesnt recommend creatine, the most safe and natural workout supplement ever researched, don’t know what to tell you except that i’m glad you queried your family’s ear lubrisity, try it on criminals who don’t shower. Stay safe.
Don't ever think this is obsolete beacsue in a lot of situation you can run away.sometimes you can't because they are multiple people and they surround you,or you are inside,etc..
Knives are a tool, not a weapon. Don’t carry a knife “just because” or to reach that “tactical persona” only use a knife as a weapon when absolutely necessary, like when your life is jeopardized or someone nearby is jeopardizing someone else’s life.
OK let me advise you real quick. Knife is an simple but also an complex weapon at the same time. By saying that I mean that everyone can swing it around and you never know the pattern. So here is my tip: If you ever find yourself in a knife 1 versus 1 situation run because the chances of getting out of there unharmed are low and if you are trapped with the other person just try to grab his arm with your avaible one and stab the enemy with the other. Follow your instict dont follow these useless "techniques" as I said earlier KNIFE IS UN UNPREDICTED WEAPON WITH UNPREDICTED PATTERNS NOT EVERYONE ATTACK THE SAME WAYS
I was threatened by a guy a couple houses away from me so I’m learning since I’m only a 17 yr old kid and I’m terrified and I don’t think the police will do anything to help me so I’m learning here
How is it now? I had a guy from across the street demand a cigarette, and I kept telling him to go away, so I got a knife now just in case he gets too demanding in the future. Dude had the nerve to ask if we wanted to friends like 2 weeks later when I was out walking my dog, I was prepared for anything but nothing happened luckily
I’m was in my house someone knocked on the door and when I asked 2 times they didn’t respond and kept knocking so I may have overreacted and grabbed a frying pan and a big kitchen knife then searched this up.I watched a bit to much horror movies lmao.
I think he picked the two best things you could’ve in your home. I bet they would’ve thought twice looking at you once you open the door..? Sometimes it’s better to look crazy rather than vulnerable.
The most useful part of this video IMO is the stance. If someone is coming at you with a knife, lead with your knife. This keeps them more at a distance. If someone is coming at you with hands, lead with your nondominant hand. This protects your knife from an attacker. I would also lead with my nondominant hand if I'm ready to sacrifice it in order to get a better chance at getting a good cut with the knife. For example if someone is coming at you with a machete or bat and you put your knife hand out there, they will just wack at your hand until you drop your knife. If you take a machete hit to your forearm you have a chance to get closer. The closer you are against these longer weapons the more advantage you have. Ideally you'd be able to dodge and trap the machete with your nondominant hand and then procede to stab and slash.
I was watch igtv and a bunch of murder videos popped up so im here because my dad gave me a knife because I’m starting to encounter more creeps and i want to go biking alone tomorrow-
I have question, I don't have a self defense knife that folds in half (so it wouldn't cut anything), how do I hide it? Like.. I received a small cut when I try to grab it (2 times), I always have the grip at the start of the pocket (space in which you put your hand it) but then my knife would cut my pockets or just get entangled by my clothes (since the tip cuts the fabric), how do I grab my knife properly if I'm hiding it in my pocket (or bag)
I don't know what to write here - that would be a self defense kill, you would still have to go to trial tho. This is one of those “better to be judge by 12 than carried by 6” scenarios
So im from a country where there are more than 90 rape cases in 2 months inside house outside in car in van in school everywhere with every child every girl every woman every older even the dead body so i need to learn this not just me but every girl
Good idea to always cover your neck & face, I pray God Keeps Us All Safe, This is scary especially for a female, Are we strong enough to block the arm ?
Looks.good but if the attacker is fast with his attack you are screwed. Odds of you being fast enough to do some of these techniques effectively is slim...
Wow if you have to cut someone in the thraot will they stop fighting then ? & Even though it's self defense , Will you get in Trouble , Aressted ? What will happen ?
Jessica Strong you’ll be investigated and possibly tried for manslaughter; you claim not guilty and you were in self defense. Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6
Stabs will be quick 2 in a row. How does he know that? The attacker wot take a slice at you and hold his arm out there for you to do the move he's teaching. Looks good but a knife attack is very fast.
When he gets his back like that, you can easily just stomp his leg into the ground with an oblique kick and get him in a choke hold, I don't know if the channel master approves of this but I can definitely see it happening along with this training, and you may not need to lethally stab the person at all. Might also help with legal terms as well.
Me, watching this after some guy on Instagram said he knows my address, then listed it. Also said I’m a ugly flick and a disappointment, then said I should kill myself. So know I have a knife hung on my door.

Blizzard13_ i train my self since i'm 14
Blizzard13_ Damn. That's pretty badass.
no bullshit?
Blizzard13_ fake
I probably would have just ran
Imma just pull a gun out
What if they stab you twice in the neck as you reach for your gun?
Necromancer Then a knife wouldn’t be too much better would it lol
Then pull out the nuclear missle
Or don't have the money for a gun and ammunition for target practice. A decent sharp knife can cost less and serves other purposes other than self defense.
Something is better than nothing. Pepper spray and running are always good ways to avoid injury
I almost got my motorcycle robbed in Mexico (this is where a live) and I watched and perfected this tactics before so I used them today injuring 2 people that approached me and tried to rob my motorcycle, I got out of my bike and when they turned I stabbed the thieve and his other partner got a knife out but I didn't have him time to react after struggling for 2 minutes I release them took my bike and I accelerated fast as fuck
It was scary but you need to block that and never be afraid
Thanks I love you guys for this video saved my life.
Glad you're OK! Stay Safe. Good Job!
Damn!
Anyone else trying to learn because they are home alone and heard a noise in the hall?
I just feel safer knowing this stuff
I respect your thinking and training in a knife fighting situation.Having said that, this scenario is just so unpredictable and you most likely will be stabbed or cut really bad.
Does your attacker have friends? How is your visibility? etc
Carry a hand gun as per the law where you live.
Practice, Practice as much as you can.
Bullet beats knife 99% of the time, as long as you keep distance from your attacker.
gcsoulsurfer not everyone is aloud to carry guns
So knives are the second best
Tell that to vulnerable minors
Yeah no thanks, soon as the cops see you have a gun permit on your license the traffic stop escalates.
Don't listen to this dumbass. In CQB situations, knives beat guns every time. Guns only work at a distance, and if they close the gap before you draw, they can do some real damage/kill you. Guns are great for home defense, but in close quarters, learn to use your hands/knife.
Learn a lot of these tactics in the joint real quick
when he started talking about the stabbing and ripping i actually got really scared of that happening to me lmao 😭 i should start taking lessons, it's kinda sketchy at night where i live
The main thing I worry about is losing control of my knife.
Everyone should just do what I did! When the guy I was in a fight with brought out 2 tactical knives: I went bussout my 2 Machetes!
How do handle an assault when the bad guy is left handed an you are not. The reverse question applies.
Just stab and try not to get stabbed. Or even better. Run away!
i think that a left handed person defending themselves would have a better chance because they'd have more openings, but i guess it could be the other way around too
Great video. Attack the threat first and follow their knife.
Much appreciated seeing the actual moves and why.
Thank you!
PS Have you ever thought to do a video for a small female?
I’m 5’ 90lbs.
I just saw your comment on another knife video! Stay safe fellow girl!
"i carry a knife for tactical purposes"😂 are you foreal?
ha ha not funny
@@GamingWorld-km4yq why tf are you commenting on every ones could comment?
He’s a police btw
the word tactical is overused and used incorrectly
Im so not comfortable going up against a short blade. I wish we still lived in a time where carrying a saber or an epee or whatever was still in fashion lol the fencer in me is just "bind his blade and counter" but binding two 3 inch blades is quite a task
Carry it anyway, who cares if people look at you weird?
well in a real life fight most of the time the opponent would have a knife but not you.. so you most likely will get cut if you win or loose..
There is the element of surprise here, no real attacker is gonna show you their knife, even more so if you have an epee, they will stab you before you have a chance to draw your sword
Try having to carry a blade less than 2 inches in California :((((
@@jonathantavitian7283 My blade is 4 or 5 inches. As long as it's not spring loaded you're fine carrying a bigger blade. It's just a thumb flick to open them.
And remember: always give the student the smaller knife, so he knows who's boss. ;)
Great video, btw.
I carry brass knuckles and a Gerber prodigy straight edge fixed blade + a crkt partly serrated M21-14DSFG pocket knife.
@@Zoooker1 that is what I have been told by doctors. Also my ears aren’t extremely oily and slippery.
@@Zoooker1 along with my family. Our ears aren’t oily and slippery.
Stay safe.
Left hand defender?
Everything, just flopped. It really is all the same. Just morph the techniques.
Yep. But really hard for left-handers to adapt to.
You actually have the advantage. It's like in tennis, you have the element of surprise, and your hands are in a straight line, not Diagonal.
If you gotta defend a group of people who can't run seems this method is good, but in a one on one confrontation, running seems like a better bet.
What if your a fat boi 😂
Don't ever think this is obsolete beacsue in a lot of situation you can run away.sometimes you can't because they are multiple people and they surround you,or you are inside,etc..
I feel like if it ever comes it I'll lose my shit and fuck up
ahappyteddybearYT Get into a few fights and you will lose the nerves that cause people to screw up under pressure
Josue Mondragon Usually in a knife fight you should just try to run away. Most knife fights end bad for both...
Knives are a tool, not a weapon. Don’t carry a knife “just because” or to reach that “tactical persona” only use a knife as a weapon when absolutely necessary, like when your life is jeopardized or someone nearby is jeopardizing someone else’s life.
Duh.
I’m learning this for self defense I ain’t taking no knives outside no pocket knifes nothing but when the time comes I need to know!!
I was threatened by a guy a couple houses away from me so I’m learning since I’m only a 17 yr old kid and I’m terrified and I don’t think the police will do anything to help me so I’m learning here
I’m sorry to hear that. My son was like you and had to learn. Now he’s 35 but still carries a knife.
Are you still doing fine?
@@netherwolves3412 yeah thankfully the police were able to help me
I’m was in my house someone knocked on the door and when I asked 2 times they didn’t respond and kept knocking so I may have overreacted and grabbed a frying pan and a big kitchen knife then searched this up.I watched a bit to much horror movies lmao.
I think he picked the two best things you could’ve in your home. I bet they would’ve thought twice looking at you once you open the door..? Sometimes it’s better to look crazy rather than vulnerable.
I got my CRKT M16-01KS razor sharp with a 3.06 inch blade
I’m watching this cause of the riots
Looking for a self defense option cuz I don't have a conceal carry permit
Also speed, you gotta be quick
It looks like it will work but what if the guy uses front kicks! at the same time?
Kicks are hard to pull off without having proper training
I feel like fbi gonna get sus of me when im just panicking of what may happen to me in the future
What if you’re opposite dominant hand from your attacker? So fighting mirrored basically.
I was watch igtv and a bunch of murder videos popped up so im here because my dad gave me a knife because I’m starting to encounter more creeps and i want to go biking alone tomorrow-
Did you ever get a knife?
@@alexosow yeahhhhhhh baby still have no idea how to use it and will probably accidentally stab myself
Excellent video. Thank you
I’m getting a pocket knife and a stun gun because California is very strict on their self defense laws lol
I am in California and I carry both as well.
Also utilize violence of action.
thank you for this
So if someone attacks you, and you stab him or accidentally even kill him is it still wrong (like getting arrested and shit)
I don't know what to write here - that would be a self defense kill, you would still have to go to trial tho. This is one of those “better to be judge by 12 than carried by 6” scenarios
Nowadays a great upgreded tactical Spyderco would be the yojimbo or yo jumbo.
The world is a scary place.
I like to think of knife fights as incredibly painful chess games
youtube is such a wonderful coach
Great video thank you, my combat trodon comes in tomorrow, I want to be prepared
Just bought a big ass knife. Thanks!
So im from a country where there are more than 90 rape cases in 2 months inside house outside in car in van in school everywhere with every child every girl every woman every older even the dead body so i need to learn this not just me but every girl
Watching this cuz an old man is waiting out my house.
Been year u guud bro?
George W. Bush no he died
Are you good?
Are you ok you shold call the cops
What about when u the perpetrator already has his knife out. When do you pull yours🤷🏽♂️
Thank you very much guys for this basic and priceless info
The knife holder is left handed
Me: well I’m fucked
Good idea to always cover your neck & face, I pray God Keeps Us All Safe, This is scary especially for a female, Are we strong enough to block the arm ?
Looks.good but if the attacker is fast with his attack you are screwed. Odds of you being fast enough to do some of these techniques effectively is slim...
"You can do it, it's just not as safe"......... in a knife fight
Yes, peace and harmony
Thanks bro
Now 11 year old me knows how to defend myself with a kitchen knife against a grown man with a knife and well do deadly force for self defense
This Guy is Good
I like this pretty good. I keep thinking the guy would also be swinging fists with his off hand though. Like how do I defend that strike also?
Wow if you have to cut someone in the thraot will they stop fighting then ? & Even though it's self defense , Will you get in Trouble , Aressted ? What will happen ?
Jessica Strong you’ll be investigated and possibly tried for manslaughter; you claim not guilty and you were in self defense. Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6
This guy should start giving these training techniques to NYC subway commuters since Mayor Shithead is in denial about increased subway violence.
Awesome video!
I'm training for london
Should make one about wild doggs attacks, I have an auntie who was attacked by a pack of wild dogs. That’s why I always carry a pknife and n me.
Full grip . My opinion- Solid information.
Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face... Mike Tyson.
Yea till he cuts off your hand around his neck or just plunges it into your own neck in his few remaining conscious seconds
I’m learning this because I’m from Australia
awesome 👏
Only if i knew how to quickly open knife legaly
Thank you Master for teaching😃😇💓👏👍🙏🙏🙏🙇🏻👑
I would like for you all to demonstrate how to cut your way out of a choke hold while wielding a knife.
I live in a town kinda small with a lot of people, lots of graffiti, some protesting. And yeah.. came here to learn how to defend myself.
I own a knife and this pretty much helps me
Me, watching this after some guy on Instagram said he knows my address, then listed it. Also said I’m a ugly flick and a disappointment, then said I should kill myself. So know I have a knife hung on my door.
You should have it by you or on you at all times. Not hung on door.
I have several things in every room of my home including on my body.
Are you still ok?
