I was excited to test Rocky Mountain Bicycle’s new Instinct Carbon 70 model, as it sits squarely in my favorite category of suspension travel. It’s not a sloppy, big-travel brawler, nor is it a wrist-slamming short-travel whip. With 140 millimeters of rear-wheel travel, the new Instinct strikes some perfect middle ground, providing just the right amount of squish to scoot one around smoothly and precisely.
The Instinct is an ideal weapon for riders who like long rides and prefer to pedal deep into a trail system with challenging climbs, yet it still more than holds its own when pointed downhill-even when the descent is steep and seriously gnarly. And if stability and precision in steering are priorities for you, this bike should be at the top of your list.

All the bikes reviews are the same. They are all great bikes. People watch these videos and hear what they wanted to hear. This guy doesnt sell bikes, he sells the sport. Not very helpful picking a bike.

Good review of the riding characteristics. For good and bad, this was very accurate to what I feel. Also very entertaining.
Based on this ride/review I'd place the Rocky Mountain Instinct in the Santa Cruz class than in with the Pivot or Ibis class.

Got the instinct bc version and love the bike . Even in 160mm it feels like an awesome allrounder.

I feel like it's a bit dodgy that they sent the reviewers, Grip 2 dampeners but then put the fit-4 on the production model.
I'd rather have a nice review for the bike with the wrong damper in the fork than the right damper in the wrong bike. But I guess they had problems with getting parts aswell, not only a customer problem. OR they just had the wrong Copy - Paste on the website. Still it doesn't really change the characteristics of the bikes.
@@Phonophobia fit4 vs. grip2 will really change how a fork will react, might have a pretty big effect on overall opinion of the bike.
@@a_bad_bassist6404 I've ridden one of these with the fit 4 on the trail for about 30 miles, and I must say that it feels excellent. The grip 2 is too heavy for this bike I think, and I like having the ability to lock it out.

So I demoed the Pivot 429 and the Hightower and the Ripley. The 429 does it all the best for me. So I demo the rocky?
Feel the same way. I sold my V4 Ripley (just could not get comfy on it) and thought the T429 was the bike but this Instinct has me really intrigued. What did you decide?

Yes, quite similar. Just a bit more zippy and pumpable on intermediate trails.

Hero 7 4K 24fps with karma gimbal on a chest mount. Superview, low sharpness, and auto shutter for the woods.

I ordered the C50 and I wonder if the extra Grand for the C70 will be that much different. Any thoughts?
Unfortunately it is too late to change my order and delivery is scheduled for January 2022.
I recently picked up the C50 and have like 7 rides on it. The DPS rear is VERY supple off the top, would like to switch that out at some point for a DPX2 or a new Float X with a slightly burlier tune. I also swapped my old wheelset (Bontrager Line 30 Pro) for the stock wheels. Maxxis Aggressor on that rear wheel rolls faster than the DHR. Other than that, it's absolutely incredible. Pops, jumps around with ease, HA is bang on. SLX cassette is excellent and XT brakes are perf. I'd save that cash for way better wheels and a DPX2 at somepoint, but I've had no issues with the DPS so far.

Riding in Bellingham?
What trail is this?
A crazy trail for sure.. Would be nice to know where is it. Dream trial.
Its a group of different trails in the Galbraith area of Bellingham. I see the trails Evolution, Irish Death etc. Also looks like Pump Track into Atomic Dog. That area has been logged a lot since I was last there I'm having trouble recognising the others.
I see your bike has the grip 2 upfront, whereas Rocky's website states it comes with a fit 4. Is their website wrong, did you get sent a slightly different spec? What is going on here?
I think either the stock of Grip 2 dampeners went to shit or there trying to give the reviewers a better impression of the bike.
