Rocky Mountain Bicycles has beefed up its venerable Altitude trail bike for 2021, adding 10 millimeters of travel to the front and back to make it even more capable in the burliest of terrain. The result is a hard-charging bike that can handle steep, technical trails without sacrificing the playfulness and maneuverability of its previous iterations.
Right out of the box, the Altitude Carbon 70 is an ideal bike for hardcore enduro racers. With its thoughtful spec and bottomless suspension, it’s hard to imagine there’s a trail out there that’s too rowdy for this bike. And if you’re more of a weekend warrior type like me, this is definitely a bike that will allow you to push your own limits with speed and style.

Best reviews as always. That being said he could probably ride a unicycle at 50mph on those trails and would love it. There comes a point where his skill overshadows bike builds. I wanna see him and Jeff Kendall Weed race head to head.

Based on your other reviews, seems like you have more fun on a shorter travel trail bike. Could be trail conditions, too. I ride similar trails here in California and you have me thinking that my 170/160 Banshee Rune V3 is probably too much squish. I started on a big bike so I just went with what's familiar on my next one.

Another great review.....I reckon your one of the best on the internet. If you can you should try and review an Orange Stage 6 ,Cotic Rocketmax and compare them to the Modern Enduro bikes . They both have uber modern geo but single pivot or made out of steel .

I'm super impressed by these reviews, especially the lucid commentary at speed! I do have one gripe: haven't heard a single negative final thought yet. I get that modern bikes with Big 2 suspensions and drivetrains will all be solid, but I'd love more differentiation among bikes in their group. What stands out?

Great Review and man you are a good rider! My favorite is when you are flying down the mountain and around 6:50 you thread those trees. I was like whoa! What width handlebars are you on? The camera work is good too, very clear and stable. Do you prefer this vs Transition vs Pivot?

    • @Hardcaslte

It's best for someone who wants to go crazy downhill, aka it's not the best climber or pedaling platform; and being 170mm you shouldn't expect it to be a great pedaling platform. It's not going to compare to a 130mm trail bike for pedaling and climbing up a mountain, etc. He doesn't necessarily need to spell out the negatives for there to be negatives.

I watched most of your reviews for the big enduro category bikes and I still can't see one in which you are faster than on the enduro. Maybe it was the day(although it looked slippery), maybe you were 110% in the mood for riding or maybe it was the bike, idk. Even though this Altitude is a fresh EWS winner, it does not look as fast as the Spez. Weirdly, the pros don't seem get along with it that well.

@@fabian12369139 no way, slower, not the same stability.
Just watch the spez video, it is effin' monstruously fast!, I hate the fact that spez does not make one in alu.; for me, personally, carbon on big hitting bikes is useless; from gravel through trail, carbon of course. Once you get to enduro type of bike and above, no thank you. Money extra not making me any faster.
