      Same here!!! Been watching him since I was a teenager with my mom. Now that I'm in my 30's and she is no longer with us, there's something about watching Nadal these years, it's like looking through a weird mirror where I also get to see my life and how it's moved in adjacent to his... I love it, I wish he could play forever. I know my mom would've even be proud of what he's accomplished.

    The most important thing about Rafa Nadal is not the way he plays, the technique he uses or how he hits the ball, the most important thing about Rafa is his spirit! Because it's something that is much bigger than tennis, it's a message for the people who're struggling and an attitude towards life!
    He is an icon of resistance, a true warrior without sword but with racquet that inspires a lot of people in their normal lifes, and that's what matters over the sport and the player, the icon he is, and that goes beyond any borders. He is an international icon of effort and fight.
    Proud to have seen you through these years long, and proud to live in your era.
    Congratulations to Medvedev too, he made an amazing match, great fight and great tennis for him.

    Federer is class, elegance but ... if you don't sweat! Djokovic is the cold head, a killer but Mr. Nadal in the shade, is the delivery, the sacrifice, not a protest, the respect for the rival, the fight against the disease, and in the end when they retire, Rafa will be THE BEST.

    • @bifftannen66
      @bifftannen66 5 лет назад +8

      They all very talented, but tennis is a solo sport, mentally you have to be on top every single time or you go down. Medvedev certainly has shown his spirit this year, especially the last few weeks of course, but Thiem definitely shown it at the French open. He just seem more comfortable at clay. Tsitsipas is a bit younger, maybe it will come, he is already top 10 but hasn't shown this strength at the majors. Zverev actually did the opposite, he disappears at the big stages. Based on the last few weeks it's easy to point out Medvedev, I think so too he just seem more mature mentally than the others.

      I share the same thought, Daniil right now looks like the toughest competitors for anyone including top 3. His mental strength, it is almost like he doesn’t have any emotion or fear on court, his second serve consistently shows that. Match point or break point, he plays the same...very unusual. I thought Stefanos was tough, but no, this guy will beat him mentally. they are similar age now, Thiem a little older. Daniil and Stefanos will be the next rivalry for 1 and 2. I love Thiem and hope he can come in between and steal the thunder. But it does look tough for him.

      I think it's unfair to bundle Thiem with Zverev and Tsitsipas, if Nadal wasn't playing Thiem could have easily had at least two French Open titles, he is pretty strong mentally and he showed that several times on the grand slam matches, but against Nadal on clay on a French Open final there just isn't much you can do.
