My all time favorite candy is gaz with pistachios having bern introduced to it from a young age by Iranian friends of my parents. My father had a furniture store and used to sell Persian carpets. The gentleman he bought the carpets from used to send us good size tins of pistachio nuts from Iran. I remember that the name on the tins as Pistachios- the King of Nuts. I totally agree.
The nuts I have been able to buy since that time just don’t taste as good as they have not been grown in Iran. There is just a marked difference in quality.
