DC’s Amanda Waller, sometimes called the White Queen, is known as one of the smartest villains or antiheroes of the comic world. Having had a hand in the Suicide Squad, A.R.G.U.S., and Checkmate, this government official uses her smarts, her political connections, and any means necessary of getting what she wants in the DC universe. Some famous actresses who’ve played Waller include Pam Grier in Smallville and Cynthia Addai-Robinson on Arrow. You can see Waller in DC’s Suicide Squad played by Viola Davis, and features fan favourites like Deadshot, Harley Quinn, and the Joker.

I honestly love this character. You never know when she's going to decide to insert herself into a storyline, and her influence always makes things more interesting.

Justice league from the early 2000's in my opinion is one of the best cartoon's i've ever seen in terms of drama and action with amazing plot lines. That and samurai jack 😉😉

Young justice in my opinion is the best DC animated show. Justice league was great but the storylines only ever really lasted two episodes. Things that would happen in a episode would never really carry over and matter several episodes later. While young justice had amazing plot twist with episodes that would affect team chemistry and other situations later down the line.
And teen titans
We have a plethora of skinny, sexy, action-oriented girls with predictable backstories and motives. The old Amanda Waller was a MUCH more Unique and interesting character than her New 52 counterpart. Bring back the main man while your at it. Not every character has to look like an Olympian God.
I admit I was taken aback by her design cause I'm so use to seeing her thin. Nothing sexy or anything. She was more like a serious Wanda Sykes to me if anything. But ya her of look really gives her the name " The Wall "
That was already one of my favorite aspects. She doesn’t look like she would be very intimidating but just her voice and the way she presents herself makes her so scary. I haven’t read much of the comics but in the shows, she just comes off as a bad ass boss
The Wall is one of the few people on Earth who can have a frown-off with The Bat when he tried to surprise and intimidate her in the middle of her morning shower.
Make no mistake, this woman is a badass. She is NOT to be trifled with.
I always wanted a team-up in the comics between her and Bats. It would be interesting to have two equally pragmatic and takes no shit people who are usually opposed have to team up for the greater good.

So; the New 52 version is athletic and sexy? ... Not impressed. The thing I liked about her was that she was a threat to and a match for some of the world's mightiest superheroes... while being an overweight black woman in a world with racism, sexism and fat shaming being prevalent aspects of western society. It just struck be as spitting in the face of all three stereotypes at once. It just doesn't work for me if she just becomes another sexy badass, which while being an ok stereotype in itself; doesn't compare to an Amanda Waller that seems to have overcome every form of prejudice this world has to offer in order to achieve power.

Waller was one of the worst transitions into the new 52, and that is saying something. They took away everything that made her unique and memorable. I will always love round, ball-busting Waller way, way more than the james bond girl they turned her into.

I'm glad they used a slightly bigger actress for the movie. I really liked that she was large but it wasn't an issue and she was powerful through other means besides physically. I don't care for the super fit generic body Waller. She blends in while big Waller stands out.

I'm actually a bit worried that cold-hearted characters like The Joker, Dead Pool, and Amanda Waller are all the rage now. Is this the era of likeable villains? Is there no more interest in ideal heroes?
It's the same with people that like game of thrones. Do Women just want sex? Are there no more romantic women?
i hate to admit it.. but i have a deep liking to villains aka bad guys since young! Normally, people would be rooting for the heroes, but I know of many people(myself included) that actually rooting for the bad guys deep down inside of their heart... It's always like that. The dark side always seems attractive in these stories.. Of coz, that theory doesn't work in the real world.
And you also have the parttime heroes!
Soemtimes they are good sometimes they are bad!
Maybe we side with the bad guys because the good guys always seem so fake and imaginary. We don't believe them and we don't relate to them.

I was just so happy to see more people of color in the new movie. Learning this without actually growing up with comics made Waller all the more badass.

No when certain members of the squad finally work of their prison sentences the bombs are removed from their necks.

Viola Davis did a good job in the role, but personally if they had to replace Angela Bassett I would’ve gone with Monique. I know some people don’t like her, but for me she’s a better match of the original Version of the character, and for some reason I just would’ve loved to of seen her in this role.

You guys forgot one thing: In a Justice League episode called Epilogue, We see Waller as an old lady, as she explains to Terry McGinnis, the Batman Beyond, her involvment in his "creation"
255: for those who don't know, Luthor was injecting himself with a mixture of both green kryptonite and Venom, the steroid compound that gives Bane his strength. So some of each for the World's Finest: the ability to outmuscle Batman, and nauseate Superman (besides being him of course) by being in proximity to him should his armor be compromised or any other situation his screwed up brain could concoct. But uhm it did mess with his head and he wanted to procreate with Amanda. Don't believe me? Check both the movie and the original Jeph Loeb story in Batman-Superman Public Enemies.

I am so offended that the reboot of Amanda Waller in the new 52 is some factory-stock made pretty girl. I related to Amanda Waller in a way when it comes to looks, and I was inspired by her ability to be a dominant character that doesn't need said looks to be a top-serving career woman. This change just did her dirty and also makes it clear that despite this strange 'progress' that DC is trying to do, they will also do backhanded things like this without a care.

The same way Harley Quinn became a scantily clad slut and Starfire slept with both her male teammates: modern DC thinks that horny teenage boys are the only people reading their books. And that's not me being PC this is actually things that writers who left over frustration from the mishandling of the new 52 have actually said their editor-in-chief told them. I think the editor-in-chief has even been caught in a memo saying that very thing.

Yea, you're completely right. Numerous times with the New 52 characters have been redesigned in order to give them higher sex appeal. In many cases, this ruins the characterizations that have been building for decades.
+Micah-David Saunders - I mean, I'm a man and I've got needs and all, and it's hot going to cons and seeing hot chicks cosplaying as Harley, but I feel the obsession with making her sexy often trumps her jester design motif. You can hardly tell Margot Robbis is supposed to be Harley in the Suicide Squad film. Plus, I hate Starfire's portrayal in Red Hood and the Outlaws, where she went from Wonder Woman-like proud warrior, to amnesiac eye candy, letting every man run a train on her. I rage quit comics about a year or two ago, but I'm hearing good things from DC Rebirth.

Can't say I'm a fan of her, but I don't dislike her either. She's an interesting character and a good third-faction foil to Batman - someone on a similar level in terms of strategic brilliance and being a magnificent bastard, but with her own agenda that doesn't align with Bruce's.
