- Now here is a gentle beauty from BBC1. Hope you enjoy these soothing, sublime, tranquil and incredibly warm grooves as much as I do! Oh, if only the easy listening compilations you can buy in shops were as good as this! :-)Thanks for listening to this and the other videos and much kind feedback! Many thanks to brilliant and amazing buddy Jay for much help in putting this together. Love and best regards to all on You-Tube, Ben and Pheebster ;-) Until the next programme, I return you to a trade test transmission and some music :-)
THIS IS ONE OF THE VERY BEST TAPES EVER! VERY JAMES BONDISH IN SOUND! BRINGS REAL HAPPINESS TO MY LIFE!
Yes it's a lovely tape. Also worth listening to is its BBC2 "twin," Victorian Drawing Room, which was on that channel at the same time.
Awesome 👌 👏 👍
Thank you of course too.
You're right as rain. Testcard music is the best of its kind. The most haunting melodies. Ta!
Lovely to have an upload here, thank you. Just played it all taking a 36t crane from Civaux to Rostock on Euro Truck Sim.
The William Gardner orchestra features several times on this tape, the best orchestra I've heard when it comes to Test Card music.
William Gardner Orchestra tracks could also be heard on Victorian Drawing Room, Well Alright, Flying High, Dixieland Parade 3 and House of the Rising Sun.
I'm enjoying putting together some playlists that include whole BBC trade test tapes from Christopher Williams uploads and highlighting the music. He gets a lot of unfair stick, but I think he's very creative.
@@dvidclapperton Not forgetting the Ceefax AM tape "Private Thoughts," only 37 minutes long, but 100% William Gardner music. (aka Peter Hope!!).
The Andy Novello tracks on Villa Vista and Victorian Drawing Room are also worth a special mention. Track 2 on both tapes is by this orchestra, and the final track (seldom heard on air) on Victorian Drawing Room finishes the tape off nicely.
@@ianmcclavin
The William Gardner Orchestra and the Andy Novello orchestra tracks sound very similar.
But distinctively st the start or second track of Villa Vista, an instrument that played on Andy Novello Orchestra tracks that did not play on William Gardner Orchestra tracks.
I used to love the test card music!
I was reared on it from the early 1960s onwards. It was my inspiriation to become a successful professional musician.
Good to see an upload from you. Thank you.
Villa Vista - BBC1 - 1977-1979
killer - upload !!!! a big thank you !!!!
One tape I'm dying to get hold of ' bill bailey ' in 1977 can't find it anywhere. Probably disappeared into space!.

Sorry for the messy reply please reach out to me at the above email address. Have a great weekend bud best regards O D
Shaft on Bill Bailey also on Channel 4 tape Almost Together.
When did the multiple colour castellation bars begin to appear at the top of the test card, but still showing the bottom of the black and blue boxes until 1984?
Nice upload my friend Ben. I really loved this tape Villa Vista.

The great news is that a few of those tapes have been uploaded onto RUclips.
You have to do a bit of jiggery pokery on the Christopher Williams uploads to just hear the music and avoid hearing his continuity announcements, engineering. announcements, programme recordings and the same tracks twice. Though beware it's not Ceefax teletext or Testcard F with BBC 1 or [B][B][C] 2 COLOUR e.g.
From your list out of christopher williams uploads
@Mike D'Ambrogio
Paul Sawtell might have the tracks to create Victorian Drawing Room accompanied by Test Card F. Christopher Williams may well have created his videos that include the Victorian Drawing Room tape.
It's all good stuff to keep us all entertained for hours on end.
@@dvidclapperton
Paul Sawtell has removed Victorian Drawing Room BBC2 1977-1979 sometime last year
Also Robin Lattimore has a good uploads years ago of Victorian Drawing Room BBC2 08/08/1977 - 21/02/1979 until he's have to removed his RUclips account 10 years ago and he shut everything down his account
@@dvidclapperton
Christopher Williams may well have created his video uploads of ITV Yorkshire Television industrial dispute strike apology caption font type face used Anchor True Type from 27th December 1978 2 tapes he has used the Christmas tape Santa Claus Is Coming Town and Victorian Drawing Room with 2 and half hours also created the same caption 1st January 1979 this time Villa Vista.
Hi The BBC TV test card great in the future can you do more of the BBC TV test card with music when I Dream
Just a slight technical issue here, the version of F at this time had the colour bars at the top.
If you really want to be picky, the white grid was much fatter, the F was too, and the top serif was nowhere as long-reaching. The BBC1 ident is not exactly in the right font either! This is an electronically generated version based more upon the later eprom creation rather than the slides used at the time of this tape. But, hey! who cares!!

My listings for this tape are for 23 tracks and yet there are only 22 in the tape. Anyone know what the missing track is?
It's either "Like Mahogany" or "Baby That's Me" that's missing. Can't determine which one as there don't appear to be samples for these two tracks on the Edition UK website: www.editionuk.co.uk/product/the-bobby-lee-orchestra-buddy-default-and-his-orchestra/
It is track 17, Like Mahogany by the Buddy Default Orchestra
THANKS FOR GREAT MUSIC
Does anyone know artist and titel of tune start @ 37:30
Zircon by Frank Madison Orchestra
Thanks for marking it and thanks again for sharing the name of this lovely track. A fan and an admirer from Pakistan.
I think 'Pretty Girls' seems to have disappeared from the musical archives, as well as in real life! Such a pity! This Villa Vista is a splendid one, though, don't you think?
Well that was an interesting conversation. A lonely man talking to himself....
Yes. I do think that.
I don't think Pretty Girls is lost. Most of the tracks from that tape are available. Henry Mancini's CD Visions Of Eight, Syd Dale, Ethel Ennis, Gentle Giants (aka Ray Davis of the Button Down brass fame) etc etc. I may upload it in due course.
@@paulsawtell3991 @Stuart Britton
Victorian Drawing Room sounded very similar to Villa Vista. Unless Christopher Williams has uploaded it as one of his famous or infamous mocks (whatever way you look at them) I can only find Victorian Drawing Room itself on RUclips.
Chistopher Williams
Sadly the victorian Drawing Room is now a Private Video. Really annoying that.
There was another track to Victorian Drawing Room I forgot I added to the playlist called Rockin' Strings. It's one of the from the Archives tracks. Only because I remember hearing it from cwilliams1976 defunct channel I added to the playlist. I had no idea (nor did anyone else at the time, apart from the broadcasters who were playing them) what any of the tracks from varioua test card tapes played on BBC1, BBC2 and Channel 4 over the years when they were playing them accompanying the test card and teletext in-vision. Rockin Strings is still on the Playlist thank goodness.
