Many years ago I had trouble sleeping without the TV on if my wife wasn't in the bed with me, so I used to put analogue TV on in the middle of the night to listen to the Ceefax music quietly.
She started enjoying sleeping that way too, lol. I know you get worse sleep with background noise, but it really was lovely.
Just think how much technology has moved on. It's astonishing. RIP Ceefax.
It had its day and served its purpose. I think smart phones eventually killed them off.
I do miss it and I'm happy to see Teefax bring back that feeling of nostalgia.
This reminds me of when I use to get up early for the kids programs to come on and being half awake haha

I remember those days of feeling as though I was the only person awake in the whole world

Just love this section of Ceefax, listening to it as I'm between half awake and half asleep on the couch, drifting and dreaming of a very sophisticated part of old London Town back in the 60's, busy streets full of old taxi's and buses with very smart business men in striped trousers and bowlers and lots of very upper class ladies in hats and "Breakfast At Tiffany's" outfits walking poodles along the banks of the Thames on a bright and sunny afternoon with just a touch of romance in the air.
for me this was a stoners paradise...

I always used to catch this in the morning as a kid when I was tired and found it really surreal. For some reason I remember the palm trees in particular. Haha.
In the mid 2000’s my TV used to come on to wake me up for work around 5am. This first song especially always reminds me of my puppy pug I just got at the time. RIP Angel.

I love the way the pages are "live" and you can reminisce with the good old days when Simon Cowell's house was burgled or re-live the sad news that James Cameron returned to the ocean surface after a 7 mile submarine plunge....you cannot beat a bit of test card boogie a la ceefax. A bright selection of music which brings back great memories - cheers again.
I always used to think am I reading it too fast, or too slow, am I going to be waiting ages for the next page, or the next page will appear before I read it.

I'm still looking for the one bit of ceefax / test card music that has really stuck in my head for all these decades.
A mid-tempo bit of instrumental swing-jazz with two harmon-muted trumpets in unison...because I can't cut and paste sheet music into the comment box, all I can say is, the main melodic motif could be fitted with the phrase "pig in a poke, I bought a pig in a poke!"

when i was in jail (blakenhurst) i just used to let ceefax run when i was sleeping. its good chilled out music. but the first tune is my favourite
so THIS is the music that inspired that track at the end of that one pink floyd album that I can't recall the name of.
This song which is known in the description as "Sandy Lanes" at 16:15 sounds almost like an Elton John song.

It _didn't_ have music if you just brought it up on screen by pressing the teletext button on your remote, if that's what you're thinking of.
During the small hours of the night, though, back before 24-hour programming, after the BBC went off air for the night they would broadcast 'Pages from Ceefax' as in this video - which would indeed have this kind of soundtrack.
