I found this 3 almost 4 years ago in my darkest days, a NICU hoping my daughter would live... this playing in the background faintly, between beeps and bells of her machines, today I helped her get her Jammies on to this and have put her little sister to sleep with it... thank you for being the peace in my life.... eternally grateful xox
Glad to hear your daughter is doing well. Having gone through something similar with my son two years ago, I can empathize. An incredibly trying experience if there ever was one to begin motherhood or fatherhood like that, but made us aware from the start how precious and fragile this life we brought into the world really was.

Part of it may be a little nostalgia, like looking back at a more simple, innocent time- and realizing you will never see the world the same way again.
Growing up in an Asian household, Ghibli movies were bigger than Disney to me. I was often bullied for referencing Totoro or Spirited Away, but I still look back on those films and the music very fondly. Things weren't great back then, but I was really happy. This music makes me happy :)
I am related to you in another way. People keep asking me why I choose unpopular music as if it was an unwise thing to do and waste of time. When this collection exploded 1M now 2M, my way of music, faith of choice becomes hard solid as if nothing can sway me.

As a child I could not understand Japanese cartoons, they looked so odd from a western perspective and they were so different from Disney. As an Adult I love the difference and their story lines, so beautiful!

The current phase in my life is rather...exhausting. I'm studying 24/7 for med school. I still have 1,5 years to go, but looking back ghibli music has accompanied through so many years... sometimes i think without this music, i would have not made it throughout the years because it gets lonely pretty fast living like this... This music makes me feel less alone and takes me to a place where my soul can rest a little... even when I'm studying. Hahaha.

I found this video and it was the only thing that I could sleep to for weeks. i was devastated when the video disappeared and my heart SOARED when it was re-uploaded. now anytime I can't sleep, I play this. filled with comfort instantly, every time. now when I hear the original music, I can't help but think of these beautiful piano covers. thank you ❤️❤️

I used to listen to this all the time way back in high school almost 6 years ago studying for my IB exams. Today I stumbled upon it again for the first time since graduating high school while studying for my final semester of college. The nostalgia of this playlist almost has me in tears. I discovered this playlist back in my early teens. I'm more than twenty now, and I still listen to it, whether to calm my nerves, concentrate on work, or relax.
For some reason, other playlists distract me from my task, but Ghibli music has the sole ability to attune me toward my task. It is as unobtrusive as it is soothing; it is sublime, refreshing, graceful and freeing :) Thank you for creating the perfect playlist that helped me get through many productive sessions!
During my final year of High School, I was in a really bad state mentally . I didn't have the energy to study, or do anything really. When I lived in Japan as a child Ghibli was such a part of the background and like most things I never really paid mind to it, I had only seen 3 of their movies before. But nowadays I’m in love with Ghibli and wish I had been more appreciative of living in Japan
I used to go to Japan when I was a child quite frequently to meet with my extended family over there. They would always let me watch studio Ghibli movies ever since a young age, like Totoro XDD though I didn't understand much as I wasn't fluent in Japanese yet. I hadn't visited them for a while when I first heard this collection, and it brought back so much nostalgia for me. I had RUclips on shuffle whilst I was studying, and I heard Umi no Meiru Machi - recognising it immediately, but I could not tell where it was from. I checked the tab to see this video, and I've been coming back to it ever since I first found it 5 years ago. I haven't visited my family in a while, due to the pandemic and my own exams preventing me from doing anything other than studying. However, I do hope that I'll be able to return to them once again. Thank you for such a lovely collection!! It really helps me to feel better :))

This playlist is really wonderful for several reasons:
-First, there is the musical technique which is impressive and really innovative, there are many varied styles.
-Then, there are the memorable passages of these works that are full of emotions, they remain anchored in our minds.
-Finally, there is a much more personal and almost spiritual side that I find hard to explain. Let's say that these films and their music really touched me, with a grandiose beauty, when I was a child. When I listen to these works, I am crossed by a huge wave of nostalgia and emotions that come like images that make you cry, from the time when I was carefree! It's really hard to explain but personally, I have always been absorbed by the universe of Myazaki. And I think I'm not the only one to feel that way...
To finish, I wish you a good day ! Spend some time with your family, take some time for yourself, work on your goals, in short develop yourself, I'm going to see "My neighbor Totoro" again 👋

First listened to this playlist my freshman year of college and now listening to it during my first month of a full-time job. It's probably been my best and most consistent study companion!
I chose piano versions of Kaze no Tani no Naushika from Nausicaa and Merry Go Round from Howl's as our wedding ceremony music and now every time I hear those songs, it reminds me of that beautiful moment and that day.
the picture is very well chosen. It is a scene in Totoro that is a hidden reference to the first time Hayao Myasaki and Hisao Takahata met. It was revealed by Hayao Myasaki at Hisao Takahata's funeral.

The music in all ghibili films always give me a sense of infinity. Whenever I hear songs from ghibili films I always imagine myself in endless green field with a cool breeze, and a blue sky with bright white clouds. It’s very nostalgic as ghibili playlists were always played when my dad was driving my family to a trip or on our way home from a trip.
Although most people use this for studying and doing homework I think this is great for just an enjoyable summer afternoon or evening.
This was the first Ghibli OST playlist I heard. Then I started to discover many others, but even today I think that this particular video has something that makes it the best Ghibli playlist on RUclips. Arigato gozaimasu!!!

I remember as a child, I used to watch Ghibli films with my parents, and that my parents would go out of the way just to get me the DVDs for the movies for us to watch as a family during movie nights. I never appreciated it as much as a kid but it really hits you when you're now on your own studying abroad and only seeing them once a year. Listening to this just reminded me of those times and that I need to make this temporary separation period from them worthwhile. hace apenas un par de años que empece a tocar el violín, el primer día de clase me fue imposible no pensar en ghibli, y que puedo decir? aun me es imposible no pensarlo. Este tipo de música tiene un alguito especial que decide quedarse a vivir en tu corazón, se hace un lugarcito allí y no vuelve nunca a irse. Es bellisimo, su poder de cambiar aquello que nos rodea y volverlo repentinamente maravilloso es inexplicablemente único, como espectadores podemos pedir algo mas? Sencillamente no, poder convivir con sus melodías en mi mente y vivir con ese roce con la perfección que es su música, conocerlos y reconocerlos y sorprenderme de nuevo cuando los escucho nuevamente, es el mejor regalo que pudo darme el mundo musical.

The gentle notes of a peaceful piano really do encite the emotion and beauty of these films. It gives in to the mood of the music and the films, each a wonder of their own. Whether you prefer sleeping in a forest with Totoro, or flying above the bathhouse with Haku, there's a mystical world out there waiting for you. It may be up high in Laputa, or maybe submerged in water, with Ponyo. It feels like I'm back in my childhood when I think of the joy I feel when watching these movies. I just today bought this book that tells the story of Hayao Miyazaki, and also shows the concept art of the movies. Every page speaks of the grace and creativity of the genius man himself, along with his adoring team. I highly recommend reading it. My love of these films go out to Studio Ghibli-♥
