My Dad used to haul them to town cause it’s to far for horse and buggy’s. Tell Jamie you want a trip to Smicksburg to Amish country.

Sara, I love the Amish Markets. They have everything in them and their stuff is so good. My grandpa used to bring us kids horehound drops home all the time when we were little and that was well over 50 years ago.

Amish, or Pennsylvania dutch cooking, actually uses very little spices or fresh herbs in thier cookings(saffron for pot pie,parsley). The spices they do use are generally for baking: ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon, etc. So most of these mixes are not Amish at all, but meant to appease other American tastes.
