Great, gentle grooming. I learned a lot. I've always groomed my Bichons, but none of them have been blessed with such a beautiful coat. I would love to see a grooming video on how to groom a very thin haired (elderly) Bichon. I understand about "imagining" the hair is there, but her hair never was there in the first place! Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Going to a groomer is out of my doggie budget as aging dogs have BIG vet bills. Thanks for the great video (and I understood almost every word, and I LOVED it when you said "puppies.,"
Awsome video! Thank you so much for sharing! I had two Bichons as a kid and I loved them. They are perfect with other animales. One of my Bihcons became mom for my rat.....
When does the Bichon start to grow it's undercoat? My Bichon cross Tibetan Terrier has a very fast growing topcoat and my groomer thinks she is a Maltese cross not a Tibetan Terrier. The bone structure is that of a fine miniature poodle, I am now deciding the grooming style for my fur baby, the dome of the skull is very narrow between the ears and the ears are set high would appreciate guidance in this area thank you
My bichon is 5 months old he goes to groomers for a puppy groom every 4-6 weeks and they tell me he is very well behaved my problem is daily grooming how to I stop him thinking this is playtime ?
Are they good with other pets? My brothers were saying that should I get dog when I move out. I was thinking about getting a Portuguese Water Dog and bichon frise dog
They are GREAT with other pets! I have a Bichon and it's honestly the best dog ever. They are so playful and funny. They're very loveable too and don't get jealous easily like a lot of the other smaller dogs.
I also have a Shihtzu/Maltese mix and they get along very well. Although the Shihtzu gets jealous easily and is more of an attention hogger. My Bichon is very polite and always allows my Shihtzu to have first pick of everything. He's very polite and very proper.
I am in need of a good groomer for my Bichon Frise . I live in Middleburg,Fl. near Jacksonville, Fl.. Do you know of any shop in this area ???? Thank You ! I really enjoyed your video.
What an excellent groomer you are and your so nice . I had a feeling the new groomer was rough with my Mr. Snow a West Island Terrier he is and I adopted him . Never feared or biten til we started going to new groomer once we moved. So I asked if they mind if I looked on they said no problem. Well, of course being a over protective mom I had to eat crow while I watched . He was fine with the bathing . Once the devices the blow dryer I notice the groomer thinking it's funny that each time he came towards my dog with anything in his hand my dog would flinch. I then said he has never done this and the groomer replies well, you can tell this boy is spoiled . I took that myself very offensive he continued to say, we always hear how the dog never acted like this with our other groomer . He says, I have dogs waiting I don't have time to craddle talk dogs I'm running a business and sweet talks and treats aren't going to pay my Bill's. That' was the last time Mr. Snow and I went to the blanking lot. As you said yourself the dog has to get use to a new environment. Not to mention he is a senior i adopted him 5 yrs ago and he loves to be loved it's why i knew something wasn't right. Do you have advice as to how you seek out a groomer that isn't abusing . There are some out there and hardly one video i can't find one video on how to spot signs or how to pick or find groomers. Especially when you pay good money and tip extremely well . I believe a good groomer deserves to be awarded a good tip its art . I can tell whose been where just by there cuts and your pet reflects its owner / owners as well . Any tips on how to make sure your baby isn't being abused . My vet told me to put a camera into his collar . I shouldn't have to worry about something as cruel as abuse of an animal and pay ya for the torment. Great cut I really loved it. You gave great information getting them use to a new place. Thank you ...
Hi... Can you please tell me the models of the clippers you are using also the names of the scissors you are using. Please also tell me what brush and combs are best... I'm getting a Bichon in a few weeks time so want everything in... Thank you 😀
You dont have to take your bichon to a groomer as this lady said as iv had bichons for over 25yrs and i practiced myself at the begining and it was easy every one i new used to bring there dogs to me and i would do as this lady does and try show them so they didnt have to go to expensive dog groomers, and the professional groomers i tried at the begining never did make my bichons look like a puff ball they always made there legs look to thin and there ears to long so as i said i did it myself. So if any one has a bichon do have a go yourself and with time you will get there in the end.
that's awesome you were able to master it but there are a lot of people who aren't expensive because they aren't skilled and they are likely to injure dogs. Grooming is a skilled trade and to learn a trim like this takes real practice and training, skill and patience. So many people have attempted to home groom their pets and have hurt their dogs, some very seriously, as well as untrained groomers attempting to groom for less than the "expensive" shops and turn out a horrible product. People should do what they are comfortable with but not everyone can groom safely...
Liverbird, You need to learn how to properly distinguish your spelling. Particularly when it comes to their and there, also too and to. Maybe you can make learning how to spell properly your next hobby.
I wish our boy stood so still and didn’t get grumpy after the clippers and he has a sparse coat. Takes three or four attempts over a week. . Then start again after three weeks
if you're a real grooming salon for dogs if you check in a female puppy named Luna good luck with grooming her especially with her bath she does not like water one bit
Great groom, bad camera work... As an ever developing groomer, while watching vids it helps if the work being done is VISIBLE. Technique, Angle, Tool positioning all add to the details. A lot of that was missed in this video. Great grooming results though :D
Thank you for sharing the holding techniques. You have a very gentle voice, as well.
That dog behaves better than most kids!
Absolutely a treat to watch Alison work her magic. Thank you so much Alison!
My friend just adopted a bichon poodle mix, this is very helpful! Thank you!

Do you have to make sure that a pups first cut isn’t to short or curls won’t come in.
What kind of spray do you use to hold the coat while cutting with scissors?

Is it normal for Bichons to drink so much water
Yes, they need lots of water.
nice you can really make out the veins in the back of your hand
Hi...
Can you please tell me the models of the clippers you are using also the names of the scissors you are using.
Please also tell me what brush and combs are best...
I'm getting a Bichon in a few weeks time so want everything in... Thank you 😀
This is the first time I’ve heard someone genuinely call a female dog a bitch
awwww parece un peluche

Poor little baby
Is that dog even real
If you feel that your Bichon drink to much water, it can be diabetes. One of my Bichons died of it.
Neo and Trinity Kitten Cushing disease is a possibility also 😢
I tried CC and still could not understand her accent.
