I love this. It is so hard for introverts to go on dates or start up the conversation. This made me a lot more confident in my introvert self. Thanks, Gurl.com
I'm an introvert and I thought that I was the only one who plans the conversation because I run out of topics to talk about. But the sad part is that whenever I see my significant other , I forget everything I had planned.
What I did is meet my SO on RUclips comments. So our 'first date' was three months after we met online! We texted a lot before we video chatted, and he came to my country eventually. We're engaged and getting married next month. I'd not recommend this path to other people, though.
rachelle2227 aww that's adorable. was it harder to talk on your "first date"? i have a lot of friends i met through twitter who i wanna meet and i always wonder if we'll have as much to say in person dlsksksjs
Well I don't know what we consider our first date, really. The first time we met, I went with my sister and her friend for breakfast with him since my parents were just a bit wary since I hadn't met him in person before. It was harder to talk, but it could have been because of the extra company. After that we went alone around town and on a walk, and we were fine, our conversation went smooth. There definitely was a surreal factor of seeing him in the flesh. If you could ever get the opportunity to meet online friends, totally do it! It would help if you've video chatted at least a few times first since that gives a pretty close feel to how it is in real life. Just make sure you do it in public and tell other people where you are. I don't think you necessarily have to go with someone else. Just be careful. It may be awkward at first, but you could plan an activity together where conversation isn't mandatory but could still happen, like bowling or something like that.
My Myers Briggs test results showed 70% preference to introversion. I make friends when a kind extrovert finds me and adopts me. My boyfriend of quite some time is a very strong extrovert. It can work. You just have to understand each other. I know that he loves being around people. The same draining feeling I have when I'm around people is what he feels when he's alone. As well as the satisfyingly recharged feeling I get from being alone is what he feels when he's around people. When I haven't had any time to myself and it makes me stressed he knows me well enough and cares enough to say hey go relax I'll take care of things let me know when you feel better. One thing I realized though is that you learn from each other. I have him now, he's like a part of me so when I go out to a party with him I don't feel so stranded. Alternatively he's learned to appreciate the value of a little alone time. I think the most important thing is to try and understand one another and at least attempt to put yourself in their shows as well as knowing there will be a little bit of an imbalance and a few growing pains before you get it all figured out.
As far as conversation topics for introverts, the simplest way I can put it is _don't shy away from topics you're interested in_. For me I really enjoy things like psychology, spirituality, the way the world works, big dreams and goals in life, and so on. I'll both share my thoughts and ask for theirs, and it really helps me get a quick idea for what kind of person they are. It tells me how well they can accept me as a person as well as how much I like them, plus people tend to like when you show a genuine interest in getting to know them.
I'd love to take a *REAL* test to see if I'm a *REAL* introvert or not. Many can appear to be one, but just aren't super talkative, etc. Thoughts, anyone?
the worst thing an introvert can do on a date is play introvert once he or she is approached and talked to. really, one has to take the trouble and build friendly open answers. Even extroverts find it exhausting talking to a living wall. I am a total introvert but the very least you can do is appreciate those who make a first step and open up in return.
I have a boyfriend but he's avoiding me he looks at other girls not the way he looks at me what do I do its not right to me is he cheating on me what can I do??? Help
