01:12 There are infinite continues in this game. After the game over screen, just go to the title screen, hit play, and then 'continue'. After character selection, you'll start from the section you died at.
After a quick look on japanese tips sites it appears that there a 5 top recipes by characters. It seems that Pork + Protein and Chicken + Protein are the best recipes overall for everyone then it's Beef + Beef / Beef + Protein / Beef + Rice for Bonjour, Pepper + Lobster / Tofu + Pepper (or the other way around) / Fish + Protein for Madame and Ice + Wheat / Ice + Egg (or the other way around) / Ice + Protein for Très Bien. Additionally putting Tofu or Vegetable in any combination will never result in a bad recipe, and putting protein first will negate any life gain (not too sure of this one). It is also not recommended to mix two mushroom together since it apparently gives a poisonous mushroom that will kill you. There's also a quick reference guide on how to obtain ingredients since it depends on how you kill certain types of enemies.
I'm going to put this here because you'd never know this was coming until it happens... This game is wonderfully strange, to the point where there's a magician enemy. During his boss fight, he can actually trap you in his tophat, and instead of just trapping you, it turns you into one of the many enemies you've encountered. This can be amazing since all of them actually have movesets and some are actually really fun even if the instance is short you get to play as them. Just be careful if you get stuck as the Jack enemy, his main attack is to split himself open to stab someone, thus being instant death for you.
I thought the same thing! Maybe both games share some developers who really loves cooking. LOL Besides Dragon's Crown, Odin Sphere anda Muramasa, from the same company, also have cooking mechanics
Hey Snes Drunk person, this video is very good. Tasty, very Gourmet. This game is like any beat em up game but the programmers were obviously on tasty gourmet drugs and decided that a combo of cooking ingredients ( whatever your choose right) was imperative to aiding your hero. Thanks for the entertaining video.
Interesting twist on a beat-em up. Now that it has had the SNESDrunk bump, those fanatics will get right to work on that Gamefaqs list for the working food combinations.
Came across this in a rom archive - the 32 Meg games are usually some of the best Lots of pretty graphics, but not enough variety so it’s worth to play through as a gag.
It has a great cooking sub game with the chef character. And you can make neals thatll help buffs and health. Love that game it really is an amazing rpg.
And the super secret bonus character you obtain after you have beaten the game on hardest difficulty with every other character: "Voulez Vous Couchez Avec Moi III" (Yes, the III is important!).
I get that Japan is known in the West for having created some pretty odd stuff, but sometimes they go ahead and create something that's too bizarre, even for them.
I only know about this game because I found it while researching Super Sentai games, Super Sentai being the show Power Rangers takes much of its suit footage from.
The original japanese cartridge of this was SUPREMELY expensive. They did however rerelease it in Japan sometime last year i think, so you can get a somewhat original copy for about 60 now. But man, I remember wanting to get this game for years but it was super freaking expensive.
Hey SNES drunk I haven't looked back at your archives but have you reviewed the Kunio games for the SNES? One in particular Shin Nekketsu Kouha-Kunio tachi no Banks is really good. It has both the River City Girls and the Boys as playable characters. It runs well on my SNES mini even with the fan translated English patch. The game is awesome and a must play for any River City Ransom or beat em up fan out there.👍 The other Kunio game for SNES Shodai Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-Kun is just ok to me.
I love what Piko Interactive does, but I really hope they have improved in their cartridge quality. 40 Winks was solidly made, but I had ordererd one of their GBA carts in the past and besides from an original box and manual, the cartridge itself seemed very cheaply made and looked to be from standard repro-cart cheap materials, it even used the original Nintendo GameBoyAdvance logo on it, which I think they would be weary to put on their products. It just looked like a etsy/ebay seller made repro cart, rather then an "official" product that they own the rights too, essentially just took the game and slapped it on a cheap Chinese cart. I have heard their Genesis cartridges are also low quality, but this was some time ago. If they can (and have) improved on this one (major) aspect of their products, I would be all the more happy to support them and the titles they obtain the licenses of.

God I love this channel.
Looks like Streets of Rage with Gordon Ramsay!
haha totally!
Without the swearing of course (it's Nintendo after all) :D

In case of Dragon's Crown, I would say that it's just Vanillaware staple...

The cooking part does seem pretty cool

Yes I like the way this game looks
It runs real well on the SNES mini as well!
One of my favorite weird beat em ups
That was a particularly good intro.

yeah i was thinking about that too
I like the “spice it up” and “meat on the bone” puns. Very clever

There had better be characters named "Sacré Bleu" and "Zut Alors" or this would've been a tragically missed opportunity.

Look out he’s powering up to his final form!
Man, i love this game só much!
I've seen that red-clawed girl as a fighter on Saltybet before. Never would have guessed she was from a Cho Aniki game.
One funny thing about this game is that you can play using regular enemys with a cheat code. So you have more characters.
This intro is the funniest one I've heard so far. I was hoping they hit the high pitch "Snnnnnn" for about 20 seconds.
Ghost sweeper is another cool one
