Excellent work. Some people would be quick to trash the Branson after that issue. But, as a heavy equipment mechanic in the Corps, I learned, shit happens. And the way I see it, if you’re going to own a piece of machinery like a tractor, you need to know how to do some shit to fix it on the fly. What you did, didn’t require years of training. With the Internet and RUclips at everyone’s fingertips, there’s no excuse for not being handy. Especially dads!
    Subbed!

Thanks for posting the problem, the solution, and the “how-to” all in one. I’m sorry you had this issue at 46 hrs. I have over 300 hrs on my 5220r with no issues. Best wishes

Bought a Branson 2400H with a Kukje 24 hp engine. 3 days after delivery the engine developed the same noise. Waiting for a dealer response.

What method did you use to determine TDC?

There is a mark on the harmonic balance

The lash cap came off, did the push rod bend?

It will move if a hose decides to give out. A old farmer I knew thought by locking the stick on his skid steer was good enough and a hose blew and the boom came down and cut him in half at the hips

Next time will take frontend loader off for sure. I definitely didn’t think that through. Thankfully nothing grim happened.

Isn't that the kukje engine? Why wouldn't you have to replace the valve?

Was told by the dealership to try and adjust 1st.

Once it's taken apart it never goes back together the same.

I found in the manual. I’m not where I can look right now. Try tractor.net or call Branson dealer.

It was that piece that fell out from in between rocker and valve spring causing rocker to tap and valve slapping.

wasn't this covered under the warranty at only 46 hrs.

    • @briangc1972

Yes, but as he said, it was easier and quicker to do it himself instead of loading the tractor on a trailer and taking it to a dealer then having to drive back days later to pick it up.
