BMW M4 CS review - BMW aims for perfect 10 rather than turning dial up to 11

- This is the new BMW M4 CS, a more track-focused variant of the BMW M4 Competition. So we took the chance to film it when we had a brief drive at a race track.
Join our Richard Lane as he tries the car, which has the same 542bhp 3.0-litre straight-six cylinder engine as the rather wild M4 CSL, but with sweeter manners and fewer wayward handling impulses.
It also has a fabulous cabin with a pared-back carbon-finished centre console, mighty bucket seats and a new, Alcantara-clad steering wheel.
There is bespoke tune for the damping, springs, stability control, steering and brakes.
The driving experience is pitched squarely between the M4 Competition and the CSL.
To that end, rather than aiming for 11 on the dial, BMW's M Division has aimed for the perfect 10, a real honey. Only 100 will come to the UK, at £117,100 apiece.
Join Richard for the drive. Edited by Shreyans Chordia. Full specs below:

Great review, beautiful footage, nicely done
Great shots from the drone.
Why have they added that artificial brrrpp after every upshift? Perhaps it sounds better in the cabin but in a video it just sounds annoying.
All M cars are like this nowadays, tragic digitalised sound
I concur.
The biggest problem is .... the owners of these cars not removing that terrible fake sound😂🤦🏻♂️FIRST thing you should do!!
Also a shame because the previous M4 CS didn't have any fake engine sound.
@@jortepap actually it did.
So is the regular M3/M4 from the current generation done? Usually CS comes right before the next generation?
No. It was introduced in 2020. Bmw has a 6-7 year product cycle but reports say the current 3/4 series will stick around longer than that bc of electrification/ neue klasse transition.
Why does the neck of that wheel look so massive
Absolute polar bear's pyjamas!👍
Good audio for a change.
Si spera che la prossima M3 sia più compatta e leggera......e più bella. Ce n è bisogno....forte bisogno
Carbon ceramic brakes aren’t standard and nor would you want them to be
CSL resale that already was suffering now is decimated 😂
Great video
Love that steering wheel
These new drls man… All bmw identity lost. Previous ones at least had a modernized angry angel eyes look. These ones could equally be from a peugot
Why do all the exterior shots look like they have been taken from a video game?!
why does everyone think I want to stare at the driver for virtually the entire video? Where's the cockpit views? Just seeing the occasional lame drone shot, slow-mo, or braking into a corner is not my idea of exciting.
I think the official car website would give you all that, this one is an 'experience review' and not a car advert.
Great car, great video, nicely done
He missed the Giulia GTA off the list of competitors. I'd have that over the M4 CS any day...
It doesn’t compete. You dreaming about driving either wont come true “any day” . go back to sleep. You think if the giulia was better he wouldn’t say it ?
Certainly a beautiful car the Alfa, much better for British roads, and a stunning engine.
Sorry to hear that, but you compare it with soothing above it's league now cos it can't compete with the BMW CS.
Why would u ? , have u driven the new CS ?
but did they fix the steering???
CS has much better steering than the comp. I had mine coded in and it’s a huge difference.
Who coded that for you?you got cs steering software on a comp?
It’s 523 bhp?
542* the facelift M4 Comp X-Drive has 523
Needs extra 200more hp
If this is CS shouldn't be much lighter 😊😊.
Isn't that the CSL?
@@Redmongoose-rdmno its not avaiable

BMW just ugly now, the front is awful, the dials the same, why a backward Rev counter, so many of the range just look ugly, I like to look back at my Mercedes and think, that looks good.
M3 drivers share that joy of looking back at your Mercedes.
High performance, boringly digital, hideous German tank. Boring review too and bad gear shifting throughout.
Cheers. And no, gearbox wasn't playing along especially, but you just have to take it as it comes when you've only got to a couple of laps to do an impromptu vid.
@@richardlane5617I actually thought the review is great. Really good description. Ignore the keyboard warriors
Hater
Automatic though 🙄and too many fake gimmicks. Give me a supercharged E46 M3 6 speed any day over this.
Same. My M2 competition manual is about as digital as I can muster.
The ugliest BMW ever.
Old tech Tesla’s are cheaper faster
Tesla’s are boring AF. That S58 is glorious
You are right, they are. And so much more boring. I had Model 3 performance now have M3 Comp XDrive. The M3 wipes the floor with the Tesla on everything except straight line acceleration, and there they are similar. First corner or on a bumpy road, Tesla would fall behind and never catch up. Horrid suspension. Super weak brakes (scary weak actually)
