- Lucy Barnard is making an attempt to become the first woman to walk the length of the Earth. It's a 30 000 km journey from the bottom of Argentina to the top of Alaska. She travels with her dog, Wombat, who is possibly on the longest dog walk of all time! This film is about crossing Peru, along 500 year old roads, known today as the Incan Trails.

So very proud of you Lucy!
How hasn't gone viral! the editing, the story, everything, is amazing!
this needs to at least get 100k views, more people have to see this.
Lucy amazing job...
I actually came over this as i myself was searching for advice over internet on travelling alone and on foot.. and your story really motivated me and gave me a push to do it. Hopefully i will be doing this soon too.
Saddle up Mr bitey McBiteyface. Time to walk again ... I am of course talking about Wombat - I still have the scars from his puppy teeth! Sorry to have to cheer you on from this side of the world this time. Go well.
Thanks Gary!!
I know the feeling Lucy, you are very brave and courageous.
Just shared with 4,000 excited Canberran outdoors women. Looking forward to watching!!! And excited that you are returning to adventure x
Yesssssss. I’m so pumped I can share this with them! 🤘
Bye Lucy I’ll be following you and will support you
Lucy, this is Perry who you and Wombat spent a few days with in Vilcabamba… I look forward to you reuniting with Wombat and continuing your inspiring journey. All the Best to you! Give Wombat a belly rub for me… I’m reminded of his and your journey every time I see the scratches on my yoga mat…
Hi Perry!! I was just thinking of you the other day! We must come back for a visit one day! Vilcabamba is a special place!!
What a beautiful journey Lucy ,wish you best of luck to your life ,take care sweetie ,lots of love from India ❤❤
Hi Lucy!
We are all incredibly proud of you, and I'm looking forward to seeing the next chapter in your adventure.
I'm saving your videos to show to my niece. She's a bit too young to understand the enormity of your accomplishment as she's only 3 years old right now, but I think you're a fantastic role model and an example of what she'll be able to achieve when she puts her mind to it (though she is already demonstrating her incredible determination and tenacity by emotionally manipulating her uncle into secretly giving her slices of mango when her mum isn't looking).
We love you Lucy! Go get 'em! =)
Hahaha. I love that!
Some schools have a map or globe they put stickers on to show my (slow) progress. She might enjoy doing the same thing?
That was a great recap of your journey Lucy , I’m looking forward to following the rest of your adventures 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I walked 5000 across American with my dog in 2016. I promise it will be most rewarding adventure you can do.
That’s so great to hear!! Where did you hike?
@@LucyBarnard FL to wash and the whole west coars

Fantastic visual storytelling!

Amazing. So good to know you're back at it!
So very proud of you Lucy!
Gday Lucy. What a great video. If you decide not to continue, you have accomplished far more than some and I am sure that you now know what you can do if you put your mind to the task. Waiting for the next chapter. I will have to check your website.
Makes me feel I should go for a walk myself now.
My next chapter is building an electric amphibious vehicle for under $10k. 🤣
…Or maybe something more outdoorsy.
Loved your video. Thanks so much for sharing. I've become a fan

This is great, I have a red heeler and I call him wombat too🤣 not his actual name, but he looks like a wombat as he is slightly overweight and had to have his tail removed.

How does this only have 7k views?
Good point, I should probably share it more!! 🤣🤷♀️
thinking of doing the south american portion with my dog either on foot or with a bicycle idk yet
You’ll love it!!!
Sorry I’m late to this amazing journey. Are u filming everything yourself? Best of luck and I’m definitely going to follow along!
Hi! Welcome to the journey!
I’m not filming as I go (other than very amateur phone stuff), in this case a friend popped over and walked with me for a few weeks to capture the footage.
@@LucyBarnard wow thx for the quick reply. I didn’t expect that! Best to you and wishing you the best of luck. You got this!
I feel like I'm at the movies🤣
You make me proud to be a woman. Twice the danger but twice the guts. Awesome x
So glad you and wombat are continuing your journey . Can't believe it's been a few yrs since you came home to Oz. What did you do when you came home to now???
I can’t believe it either!! I worked and saved money to replenish my funding. With limited flights, coming home wiped out my finances!
Very nice. Wishing you a wonderful amazing journey!
What kind of backpack are you using?
Currently I’m using a Durston pack. I’ve also used ZPacks and Aarn.
@@LucyBarnard I'll check those out thanks.
@@LucyBarnard may I also ask, how are you powering your phone and computer for making these videos? Are you pulling some sort of solar panel and battery setup with you?
@@WindsongSoundBath solar panels aren’t very practical for hiking because they work directionally and I’m both walking and using my devices during the day. They’re also heavy. I just carry a 20,000mAp battery.
@LucyBarnard I see. And that works because you're not only camping along the way right? You're renting rooms some of the time?
I camp out of a van some of the time and keep two 20000 mah battery banks, two 60w power delivery charging blocks, and two USBC to USBC cables in my backpack.
I find that if I recharge them when they're half empty it only takes a couple of hours, and I've been told that keeping them at least half full makes them live longer.
Do you do your videos with a phone only? I don't imagine that one 20k mah battery would power a laptop for very long, or even a tablet.
🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿Popcorn ready!
My god you’re awesome! 🙌
lol. Awesome like a geeky kid in a chat room?
I was following your journey pre-covid and I'm so looking forward to watching you resume and reunite with wombat! I have to say it was jarring to see you walk past 3 swastikas graffitied on the sides of buildings in small town Peru. Is that common to see there?
Yes it is. Though the significance isn’t understood by the kids who put them there.
They have long been a religious and cultural symbol for hundreds of years. The one in this movie is a reverse symbol, commonly found in Buddhism!
What sunglass is that ?
They’re Julbo Explorers (original version)
Stoked to hear you’re hiking again! Watching and supporting from Melbourne! Are you still accepting $ through PayPal?
Yes I have patron memberships and PayPal donations.

Thanks for asking… I should probably have these in the description!
Hello! NICE channel +👍🔔
Who is camera man ?
2:45 are you sure or was this a mistake or did you change plan mid hike? Alaskas northern border seems to be double the distance than simply Argentina to USA
Yes. I’m sure. 🙃
@@LucyBarnardI beg to differ. Walking to Texas or California is “walking to the USA”. Walking to the northern most tip of Alaska is quite a different scenario. You sold yourself short here. If I walk from Melbourne to cape York I didn’t just walk to qld did I 😅. You should be proud of your goals achievements and celebrate / advertise them correctly. Always say the entire length of both American continents. Well done!
@@michaelinzitari I think you’ve misunderstood. I haven’t finished and I am walking to Utqiagvik. Did you watch the whole film? Which part caused the confusion?
@@LucyBarnard the suggest route on the map in the video doesn’t match your verbal comments “hi I’m Lucy bla bla and I’m attempting etc” the map suggests you are going tip to tip. Then your comment defies this suggested route
@@michaelinzitari Thanks!! Yes. I’m going tip to tip, starting in Argentina and finishing in the United States. 🙌
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
What happened to the dog
Far from the first, just like the guy you mentioned, soooo many others have already done it
Hi Lucy how's the walk? When are you coming to my place? From Olly😆
Awwww. Hi Olly!! I’ll see you in a few years! xo
酷
why you left the dog behind ? THATS BAD real bad australian bad
privileged
Ánimo ,fuerza y buen viaje Lucy!
Misleading title
I wondered about that too. Is she walking the whole earth, or just America?
It's an impressive journey either way, but these are two different trips.
