The struggle is real - we provide treatment to a lot of strays and it is really hard not to take each one of them home. We have had some success with local adoptions though, where the dog doesn't go live in a house somewhere but stays more or less in place but somebody begins feeding them regularly and providing basic care. I had one stray (was eventually adopted thankfully) who used to follow me everywhere after I spayed her - she even tried to jump in taxis and motobicis if she saw me getting in one across the street!
I know it had to be so hard to ditch her but at least you gave her some great days of total bliss. Continued safety and best of luck on your journey. I am so enjoying following your trip.
Great video and loved that you did the right thing. It's always hard because we want to realistically help all of the stray dogs but sometimes its just not possible and its best that you didn't tether her with you. I'm sure she found somewhere among the other dogs and hopefully eventually a forever home. Ive volunteered before at shelters that help dogs and the costs are no joke, but everyone does what they can to try get them adopted so they don't have to constantly fend for themselves.
I loved that Lucy, again it goes to show what a wonderful heart you have. I'm sure Rando dog was grateful to have met you & hopefully the happy ending is that Rando was led by you to her forever home. Well that's my ending anyway.

That's a tough one. While they may appear domesticated i assume many have been born on the streets and will live their lives as street dogs. A common issue in many countries.
Interesting you say that because many people I’ve spoken to who have rescued one says they’re the sweetest and most grateful. I know where you’re coming from though.
Rando was a beautiful dog and got on so well with Wombat, but you certainly do not need an extra mouth to feed and water. I think that you trying to find a home for her along the way was as good as you could do under the circumstances. My heart goes out to stray cats and dogs that just want a bit of love and attention.

i spent 12 year hitchhiking, with a pack and a dog.. this means tons and tons and tons of walking... the easiest thing to do in the world is carry water and food for a dog... you make it sound like its some crazy thing.. its not, at all lol.. you better of watered that dog too along your way if you knew it was following you from the town.

I was the same in south east Asia on my walk nearly every street dog wanted to come with me it's so heart breaking to see so many dogs homeless ❤
I can see how hard it was leaving Rando behind but Im sure Wombat is happy to be back with just you on the road.😊
