      I have not heard a male singer comparable to Sam Cooke. Rebert H. Harris is most definitely the most influential male singer. Harris is credited with being the innovator who laid the foundation of the intertwined relationship of double and triple lead vocals and harmony within a singing group. The Soul Stirrers is the pioneering group for the majority of iconic groups including; the Impressions, Dells, Drifters, and Temptations.
      Most are confused. Often the stylists and entertainers are preferred over authentic singing. Ray Charles, Otis Redding, Eddy Levert, David Ruffin, Marvin Junior, Bobby Womack, Bunny Wailer, Peter Tosh, Sam Cooke. Rebert H. Harris and Steve Wonder are my favorite male singers.
      James Brown, Prince, Michael Jackson, Bob Marley and Fela are my favorite male singing entertainers

    • @MlilwanaOsanku
      @MlilwanaOsanku 2 года назад

      @@MichaelWilliams-cd9if I am not sure. I probably did. His musicianship is superb. His ska era singing exposes him early African American influences. His exposure to Rasta themes is evident in recordings after April 1966. His voice then becomes unique a gospel of the life and times of the underprivileged work class people. Obviously, recognized the sincerity and the radical advocacy of Malcolm X as being a direct descendant of Marcus Garvey. I love Tosh's music produced for Jamaican consumers more than the content produced for European ears, and global consumption. The music on the three wailers' labels is much better than their content found elsewhere. The list is much too long to mention here, Currently, I am paying great attention to the Gospel of Saint Peter of Westmoreland - Lessons in my Life - than his other musings and anthems. Deceit, greed and treachery are dominant themes in Tosh's expressions.

    Maybe the two greatest soul singers of all time. One thing for sure, the women went crazy when these two toured together in the early 60's along with Hank Ballard and the Midnighters. What shows those must have been.

    You are exactly right! My mom was a huge fan of this music (she was white) and had a big Motown collection on vinyl, which I now own. I grew up on this music and developed an appreciation for it. Smooth soulful voices, sophistication, and class. Something both the white and black singers of today are sorely lacking.

    I saw both men years ago, however seeing both together , what can I say but, Unbelievable. They were so talented you are missed Gentlemen. Thanks for capturing it for todays youth so they can see what real talent was all about. It should be mandatory in all schools that they study Rock and Roll and Doo Wop. Can you imagine kids dancing and singing these tunes?Dr. Doo Wop

    Grrrrrrew up on Sam and never knew much about algebra. TV snob parents so longtime no TV until some Soviet guy scared them into buying one in case the world ended. So to see this beautiful Sam and suave Jackie IS solid gold. Thanks for you-tubing it. Jackie moves smooth, but Sam moves like he knows that if he really dances it will be too damn sexy.

    I find this very interesting as I am a singer and followed everything I could that both these great singers did. I have to take exception, though, to what you said about Sam being a better singer than Jackie. NOBODY is a better singer than Jackie Wilson!! And, of course, nobody sings better than Sam...they were both incredible, just different.
