- American Bandstand. April 04, 1964. Previously uploaded on my Beech-Nut channel, I am also uploading it here as it is a 60's performance. I just didn't have a 2nd channel at the time, and the integrity of the music blended well with the Beech-Nut shows.
Sam sang as easily as most of us breathe......what a voice!
You're absolutely 💯 %!👌 ❤️ 💓 💙 💖 right about Sam Cooke 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Sam Cooke is definitely 🔥 👌 💯%! 😍 ❤️ ♥️ 😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
@@tomnekuda3818 It was Amazing the Way He Changes His Voice!! Rest In Heaven 🙏🙏🙌
I find him so mesmerizing - the way he moves his mouth when he sings, his mannerisms and swagger, both subtle and blatant at the same time. His genuine but polished interview style, that's amazing PR but clearly from the soul. I just love you, Sam.
Yes that mouth! Just him being him ! Can’t learn that, he was gorgeous!
sexy beyond belief!!!!!
God’s Gift I could look at that sexy face and hear that sexy voice 24 seven
The first comment I see captures my sentiments perfectly. I was mesmerized by his mouth, voice, and swagger all at the same time.
Yes yes yes omg I love this man rip sam
His speaking voice was just as beautiful as his singing voice! Greatest of All Time!
Yes!!!
It still hurts that he was taken too soon. What a person, what a voice. He gave the world Soul Music, after stirring the souls of God-fearing people everywhere. That brief but brilliant light in this world. Sam, when the Father calls me home, you and I will be singing together.
I absolutely love this man. He had a wonderful voice, plus the man was FINE as heck. He's my favorite entertainer of all times.
***** I know right! Lol! 😊
+Kameela Dudley Love sam he had such a good voice. Not my favorite singer but defintly up there.
jesse garon brozek He was definitely one of the greatest singer/performers of all times. Cannot be duplicated, that's for sure.
Mimi Dudley I miss you sis RIP sis love you 😞🙏😘
What happened with her?
That voice! Dude just oozes soul. Damn shame, this guy was the best. RIP Sam Cooke
The Great thing Sam is your still the Greatest News in my life. You will live forever in my heart with love & soul for Eternity.
I remember the first time hearing Sam, I was at a diner my friends owned and the owner was proposing to his wife after hours. Someone popped “You send me” into the cassette player and I lost it, asking who that was with excitement. That was 2015 lol
Dick Clark had the most amazing job, getting to meet people like Sam and making it look so effortless, artists just loved him.
" The greatest thing that could happen to me is if all the SINGER'S I'M CONNECTED WITH had hits." What a selfless guy. Simply adorable.
Well spoken young man. Lovely everything.
Sadly such a great talent only lived 8 months past this great interview.
I agree. He left us too soon, but God had a plan for him.
@@mimidudley2058 The government took this great man due to his political affiliations with Malcolm X&Muhammad Ali.
@@dwightlove3704 wasn't the gov was the dirt bag that wanted to control him....it was a set up and he had him beaten bad and then shot....by that fat ghetto B?tch at the hotel....Sam was creating his own business....and being he was black the murder was easy to overlook.....dirt bags all around back then.....I'm surprised Ali wasn't dropped because of his intelligence as well....
@@dwightlove3704 The two greatest cultural talents in the US at the time were young, black, and proud. Something that couldn't be allowed.
The King of Soul left us 50 years ago.
Clearly Bruh failed to observe that Sistuh with the wicked hot pistol, eh Sam? She SENT HIM, alright. BRILLIANCE taken out ridiculously & WAAAAAYYYY too soon.
Way, way too soon ... but what a legacy he left.
Now it’s 57❤🙏🏾
Nobody does it better than Sam Cooke, He's STILL the Best singing Legend Ever.
He was incredible.
He was so damn handsome and cool
sam died 51 years ago today. he will never be forgotten. I still play his music all the time. r.i.p. sam. love you.
60 years this year wow we miss you sam.
The best vocalist of the century.
There's no doubt about that.
Kameela Wilson Agreed....What a tragic loss,,,but we thankfully have his music...
john c Yes sir!
Thailiverbird one of the best if you ask me
Not better than Nat King Cole. Remember Capitol records
"The House that Nat built"!
He should be much better known today...he left us so many great songs in a very short time. Check out his record productions that he talked about-they're all worth the time to search them out!
he is very well known today
@@robertbeatty9563... I was about to say that and my thought is how does Spakescadman know who knows about Sam Cooke's music .I am 67 years old and when Sam started singing I was 6 years old and I am familiar with Sam's music even some of his Gospel songs . I been listening 🎧 to his music for 61 years I was brought up in house where Sam Cooke and Jackie Wilson seem to be always there . Sometimes I felt that they were in my house 🏡 more than I was 🙂 Take Care May 5,2021
sparkesscadman ...How do you know who knows about Sam Cooke ? You must live on a secluded Island 🏝️ to think that Sam Cooke is not well know in this day and time .Some radio stations are still playing Sam's music today. And there are people to this day that still listen to Sam Cooke's trophy🏆 winning music today and I am one of them Take Care May 5,2021
Ain't that the prettiest voice you every heard.
Yes Jesus it is!!!!❤❤
He’s so sexyfine. Just watching him sing all smooth and handsome. He’s deserving of more attention now because his voice is phenomenal.
God showed me a very short vision of Sam Cooke. He looked directly into my eyes as he sung a song 🎶 I’d never heard of into his 🎙️ As he was standing on stage doing his thing, I could hear the raw, raspy grit and passion in his voice.
I can't stop playing this
Paul Mooney old school
No doubt one of the greatest voices if not thee greatest in history. In addition Sam Cooke was a visionary in the music industry. Legendary.
Such a smooth voice. Honestly an instant favorite here. I always find such good music here. Sam Cooke, beautiful song
I absolutely love this man's voice. Also what a sweet and lovely personality he had. What a terrible shame to loose him so young and in such a senseless. We will never know exactly what happened that December night long ago. Rest in Peace Sam you were wonderful.
So sad to look at him here, so young, vibrant and brilliant and to have some idiot killing him less than a year later just breaks my heart (even to this day).
a woman killed him in self defence, he was trying to attack her or rape her, I dont know.
@@RunplaysinHD No...he was set up & murdered that night because there were individuals who wanted him dead...I suggest you read "Our Uncle Sam" written by his great nephew Erik Greene...theres way more to his murder than people think....
@@stacyharris9008 thanks, ill read it
@@RunplaysinHD She was the motel;/hotel clerk..he was trying to report a robbery ..she misunderstood.

I Love the magical places Sam Cooke's beautiful voice takes me. Is in my top 5 voices that are amazing.
since I was 15 or 16 trying to figure things out, I found a song called “Another Saturday Night” by Sam Cooke & things were never the same.. by far my favorite artist and the best singer I’ve ever heard. His soul was poured into his music and I just hope we all can keep his legacy alive through his music
It was "nothing can change this love" for me. I had just turned 21 the past October and it was January and my brother and I were checking out a new show called 'scandal' and at the end of the episode his voice just came out of the tv and grabbed me. And hasn't let go. He is by far my favorite singer of all time
I’m 25 but I love listening to Sam cooke👍🏾
Leo s. I love what you wrote about sam and denzel. you are so right! Sam was so amazing. he's just fun to watch.
They simply don’t make them like Sam Cooke anymore. Pound for pound he was “the greatest soul man”. I feel good, I feel at home, I feel healed when I hear this mans voice and his song. Thank you for your talent Mr Cooke.
R.I.P.
Never forgotten.

Sam was my favorite singer ever. I have requested bring it on home to me at my funeral. He was murdered for other reasons then told. He was the greatest
My all time favorite song. God bless you Sam.
The greatest thing that could happen to me...if all the singers I'm connected with had hits." What a real human being.

Sam Cooke was a Prince of a Man!! RIP 👍👍
Proud to say I had the privilege to be of the last generation to experience Dick Clark. Rest in peace to Dick and Sam, may you both live forever.
The greatest singer who will ever walk God's good earth.
Gone 8 months after this performance :-( Never to be forgotten tho. His musical legacy lives on and on!!!

Absolutely brilliant performance from mister Sam Cooke.
Sam was murdered. RIP.
What a singer, what a man, what a performer ! We miss you
FINE, FINE, FINE!!!!!
Did Allen Klien have Something 2 do with this Legends death.... Absolutely why how else would he end up with his masters and his whole life work. Had Sam Known "bless his heart" he didn't need a slime ball Jweish worm to help him do business as well as Jackie they would be celebrating their 80's b-day.
Jackie wen thru alot of bullshit and when the smoke clears and you find out that you've been robbed by the very "Jewish" you trustesd "Nat" how do you not catch a stroke. I can share some cool vids with you regarding this if your interested. Please send me link to that Sam Cooke FB I'm the biggest Cook around lol
Israel Jean Finally, someone understand his death. I have a secret group called The Great Sam Cooke page. I will definitely add you.
That's good news!
Who's here in 2022 loving the legend of the person that is Sir Sam Cooke
As stated above, on April 4th, 1964 Sam Cooke performed "(Ain't That) Good News" on the ABC-TV weekday afternoon program 'American Bandstand'...
"(Ain't That) Good News" entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart on January 19th, 1964 at position #93; seven weeks later it peaked at #11 {for 1 week} and it spent 10 weeks on the chart...
His record that preceded it on the Top 100, "Little Red Rooster", also peaked at #11, and the record that succeeded "(Ain't That) Good News" was "Good Times", and it also peaked at #11, plus all three records spent 10 weeks each on the Top 100...
Between 1957 and 1966 Mr. Cooke had forty-three records on the Top 100; five made the Top 10 with one reaching #1*, "You Send Me" for 3 weeks in 1957...
* He just missed having a second #1 record when "Chain Gang" {for 2 weeks} in 1960 peaked at #2; the two records that kept it out of the top spot were "My Heart Has A Mind of Its Own" by Connie Francis and "Mr. Custer" by Larry Verne ...
sauquoit13456 Thank you for these particulars.
What a voice, what class.
I grew up listening to mr Sam Cooke sooo glad I did.....this is singing and music not the slackness now a days...R.I.P mr Sam cook love ❤️ you xx
Sam was a real man. " What would be the greatest things that would happen to you ?" Sam responded, " that would be if all the singers that I'm connected with had hits !" A beautiful man.
Wow was he a looker.
How come all the good ones leave this early talent is priceless no matter how much money you spend you could never be as good as somebody like him that came natural to him

Agreed.
He was playa af 💯🤘🙏
You can have this one on all your channels....it's worth seeing more than once!
Thank you for posting these clips. Thoe outside the USA are amazed at what we missed!
Wow. what a classic song. What a smooth performer Sam Cooke was. Here he's singing so effortlessly and it's live no lip syncing or auto tune. Back when if you could sing, you sang. Sam Cooke had a way of making what he was singing move you. Just listen to many of his classic and maybe you will see what I'm talking about.
Sam Cooke , an influential , incredibly talented and legendary musician whose life was star-crossed by the beautiful Delores Mohawk , the big rear ended Barbara Campbell and by the Womack brothers .
What a handsome guy...indeed...
never heard him speak. He was hghly intelligent.
he was so good, and shot dead about 8 months after this aired. and I read that his toddler had died in a drowning accident in 1963. His mouth is smiling but his eyes look sad. Maybe it's just what I'm reading into it but that's what it looks like to me. so sad, and he was such a pro
he was murdered?
+QueenGamerTV yes shot dead in a motel.
Frederick Wells does anything ever happen at all anymore that isn't a goddamn conspiracy? you don't believe he'd chase down a hooker who ran off with his cash? I haven't looked into this, but I will if you'll tell me that 9/11 and Newtown weren't conspiracies also. Or the moon lending, jfk, etc. Etc.
well, it depends on if he tried really to attack her. If its true, then she had right to shoot him, and I would do the same in her place. If she stole his money, he should have called the police, not attacked her. Why some people think they can do anything they want to? You cannot attack anybody, except in self defence or in a competition, thats all.
@@RunplaysinHD I think..you can google the details..She was the motel clerk..he was robbed by another woman he had met in a bar in his room and trying to report it..get the cops etc. He was very agitated and she said she thought he wanted to rob her and so she shot him..she was thinking it was self defense.
The Best Who ever done it.The ledgerary Sam Cooke.RIP.My Brother.

Incredible. So friendly and lovely and lovable 😊
THAT VOICE IS CRAZY! No one even come close! Maybe Steve Perry? but Sam is on different level!
Steve perry? 😆 Hellnawl now you kno you dead wrong for dat
My favorite Sam Cooke song of all time - love this vocal, the rhythm, and his phrasing on it. This one you want to play over and over and dance to. Only one guy better ever....that would be Marvin Gaye.
Sam Cooke's showing out again. The Man of Soul is doing too much. RIP Legend....
A very special gift from God 💓 Love me some Sam Cooke .
0ne of a kind. so smooth and cool (R.I.P) Legend......1~Luv
Love Sam Cook, this song and his performance of it!
So cool haha what a gorgeous voice
Watch his mouth, his lips, his jaw...they surround every note, no sloppy syllables here. And the fact this was a lip sync tells you the consummate singer he was.
The best there was i cant enough of this song.
Sam Cooke was one very gifted, very cool dude!
The way he bites his lip omg 😍
"Dis-CONNECT... my telephone..."
Hahahaha!

Thanks for posting. I don't think there is a lot of existing footage of Sam just speaking and being interviewed.
just 8 months after this performance, Sam left us. 50 years ago come this December.

I was 12 years old and saw this episode
On this day in 1964 {March 8th} "Good News" by Sam Cooke peaked at #11 on Billboard's Top 100 chart, thus just missing making the Top 10 chart...
And from the 'For What It's Worth' department, the ten records that kept it out of the Top 10 were:
At #1. "I Want To Hold Your Hand" by the Beatles
#2. "She Loves You" by the Beatles
#3. "Please Please Me" by the Beatles
#4. "Dawn (Go Away)" by the Four Seasons
#5. "Java"by Al Hirt
#6. "Navy Blue" by Diane Renay
#7. "Fun, Fun, Fun" by the Beach Boys
#8. "California Sun" by the Rivieras
#9. "See The Funny Little Clown" by Bobby Goldsboro
#10. "I Love More and More Every Day" by Al Martino
"Good News" was the second of three consecutive records by Sam Cooke to peak at #11 and all three spent ten weeks each on the Top 100...
The other two records that peaked at #11 were "Little Red Rooster" and "Good Time"...
Between 1957 and 1966 the Clarksdale, Mississippi native had forty-three records on the Top 100 chart, five made the Top 10 with one reaching #1*, "You Send Me", for three weeks in 1957...
Sadly, Samuel Cooke passed away at the young age of 33 on December 11th, 1964...
May he R.I.P.
* He just missed having a second #1 record when "Chain Gang" peaked at #2 {for 2 weeks} in 1960; the two records that kept it out of the top spot were "My Heart Has A Mind of Its Own" by Connie Francis and "Mr. Custer" by Larry Verne...
